A Study on Fabrication of Semiconducting $BaTiO_3$ Ceramics at Lower Sintering Temperature (저온 소결에 의한 반도성 $BaTiO_3$ 세라믹스 제조에 관한 연구)

  • For the fabrication of semiconducting BaTiO3 ceramics at lower sintering temperature BN was selected as a sintering aid and the microsturcture of semiconducting BaTiO3 ceramics and PTCR characteristics by their microstructural changes were investigated. by adding BN to 0.1 mol% Sb2O3-doped BaTiO3 ceramics the sintering temperature showing semiconducting BaTiO3 ceramics was reduced by 16$0^{\circ}C$ from 130$0^{\circ}C$ to 114$0^{\circ}C$ and the specific resistivity ratio was increased as the amount of BN was increased.

  • The influence of rolling draughts on the formation of through-thickness textures in aluminum 5000X sheet was investigated by X-ray texture measurements and microstructure observations. In order to intensify the deformation inhomogeneities, cold rolling was performed without lubrication. Applying a large draught gave rise to the formation of the shear texture at the surface, whereas a normal plane strain testure formed at the surface after deformation with a small draught. The orientation density along the $\beta$-fiber orientations which developed in the center layer of the rolled specimen was also dependent on the strain gradients in a roll gap. Upon annealing, the deformed substructure of sample surfaces was transformed into a fine grained recrystallized microsturcture through extended recovery reaction. However, coarse grains developed after the discontinuous recrystallization which gave rise to the development of the Cube-texture.

  • 다공성 알루미나 지지체를 이용하여 졸에 침지하는 미세한 기공으로 이루어진 티타니아 여과막을 제조하였다. 티타니아 졸은 현\ulcorner액 재안정화 공정으로 제조하였고, pH 1.23-1.32범위에서 졸의 평균입지크기는 15nm 이하였다. 이 여과막은 $600^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 열처리한 경우 평균입도는 30-40nm로서 입도 분포가 좁은 양호한 여과막을 제조하였다. 이때 입자의 모양은 구형이었다. 열처리 온도가 $600^{\circ}C$보다 높아지면 여과막을 구성하는 입자 모양을 다각형으로 변하고 입도의 분포는 넓어졌다.

Characteristics in Microstructure of Particle Reinforced Al Matrix Composites Fabricated by Spray-Cast Forming Process (분사주조한 입자강화 알루미늄 복합재료의 미세조직 특성)

  • Aluminium-silicon alloy(JIS AC8A) matrix composites reinforced with SiC particles were fabricated by spray-cast forming process, and the microstructure of powders and preforms produced were studied by using an optical and scanning electron microscopy. SiC particles were co-sprayed by mixed phase injection method during the spray casting process. Most of the composite powders formed by this mixed phase injection method exhibit morphology of particle-embedded type, and some exhibits the morphology of particle attached type due to additional attachment of the SiC particles on the surface of the powders in flight. The preforms deposited were resulted in dispersed type microstructure. The pre-solidified droplets and the deposited preform of SiC-reinforced aluminium alloy exhibit finer equiaxed grain size than that of unreinforced aluminium alloy. Eutectic silicons of granular type are crystallized at the corner of the aluminum grains in the preforms deposited, and some SiC particles seem to act as nucleation sites for primary/eutectic silicon during solidification. Such primary/eutectic silicons seem to retard grain growth during the continued spray casting process. It is envisaged from the microstructural observations for the deposited preform that the resultant distribution of SiC injected particles in the Al-Si microsturcture is affected by the amount of liquid phase in the top part of the preform and by the solidification rate of the preform deposited.

Microsturcture and Electrical Properties of Yttria Stabilized Zirconia Films Prepared by Doctor Blade Method (닥터 블레이드법에 의해 제조된 이트리아 안정화 지르코니아 박막의 미세구조와 전기적 특성)

  • 경제적이고 단순성의 공정특성을 갖는 닥터 블레이드법을 이용하여 평판형 고체산화물 연료전지의 고체전해질용 이트리아 안정화 지르코니아 박막을 제조하였다. 슬러리의 최적 제조조건과 그린 필름의 최적 소성조건을 얻었으며, 이 제조 조건에서 제조된 전해질의 결정구조, 미세구조 그리고 전기적 성질을 각각 X-선 회절, 주사전자현미경 그리고 교류 임피던스 분석기를 이용하여 조사하였다. 동량의 8mol% 이트리아를 첨가한 경우, 닥터 블레이드법에 의해 제조된 이트리아 안정화 지르크니아 박막은 금형가압성형법에 의해 제조된 이트리아 안정화 지르코니아 펠렛과 거의 비슷한 전기전도도를 나타내었다. 닥터 블레이드법에 의해 제조된 이트리아 안정화 지르크니아 박막의 경우, 8mol%이트리아를 첨가한 경우의 전도도가 3mol%이트리아를 첨가한 경우 보다 993K 이상과 523K 8mol% 이트리아를 첨가한 경우의 전도도가 3mol%이트리아를 첨가한 경우의 전도도가 3mol%이트리아를 첨가한 경우 보다 993K이상과 523K이하의 온도에서는 더 높고, 523-933K사이의 온도구간에서는 낮게 나타났다. 게다가, 모든 시편에 있어서 전체 전도도에 대한 벌크 전도도의 기여도에 대한 기여도보다 더 크게 나타났다.

  • 제 3원소가 첨가된 금속간 화합물 TiAI 금속간 화합물 분말을 PREP법(플라즈마 회전전극법)으로 제조하여, 통.방전 강압소결법에 의해 치밀한 소결체를 만들었다. 이에 대해 첨가 원소의 종류와 열처리에 따른 고온 및 상온 압축 특성의 변화를 조사하였다. 소결체의 미세조직은 ${\gamma}$/$\alpha$2 lamella로 이루어진 완전 변태구조였고, 결정립의 크기는 140-150$\mu\textrm{m}$였으며 계단형 결정립계를 나타내었다. 소결체를 ($\alpha$+${\gamma}$)구역인 130$0^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 동안 열처리한 결과, 모든 조성의 시편이 등축점 ${\gamma}$와 lamella로 이루어진 전형적인 duplexrn조로 변태하였다. 상온 압축 시험에서 시편은 파괴될 때까지 가공경화 현상이 나타났으며, Cr을 첨가한 시편이 가장 큰 파괴응력과 변형률을 나타내었다. 한편, 고온 압축 시험의 경우 온도상승 때문에 가공경화의 속도가 감소되었고, 80$0^{\circ}C$에서는 가공경화와 회복이 균형을 이루는 소위 정상 상태의 변형을 보였다.

  • As a part of efforts to examine feasibility of warm forging near-net-shape process for non-heat-treated steel to replace quenched and tempered S45C steel, the optimized process condition has been determined to be $820^{\circ}C$ for heating, 10/sec for strain rate of forging and approximately 250MPa for flow stress from observed results such as the $A_{3}$ transformation temperature of about $790^{\circ}C$, the fully dynamic recrystallized behavior between $800^{\circ}C\;and\;850^{\circ}C$ when compressed up to 63% engineering strain at 10/sec strain rate, and the high temperature microsturctural stability. Also, controlled cooling rate of $6.3^{\circ}C/sec$ by water-spraying at a rate of $0.10cc/sec-cm^{2}$ for 60seconds followed by air-cooling right after forging process has been considered in this study as a feasible approach based on examination of the microsturcture of mixed ${\alpha}-ferrite$ and pearlite, the hardness and tensile properties meeting specification, and the reduced total cooling time to room temperature. Successive works would be carried out for the impact strength, machinalility, and forgeability at this process in the near future.

Electron Microscopy Analysis of Pd-Cu-Ga System Dental Alloy (치과용 Pd-Cu-GarP 합금의 전자현미경 분석)

  • 현재 상용화되고 있는 치과용 76.5% Pd-11.2% Cu-7.2% GarP 합금의 왁스모형을 원심주조기로 주조하여, 임상조건의 탈개스 및 세라믹 소성처리를 하였다. 이에따른 각각의 시편에 대해 미세조직의 변화를 주사전자현미경 및 EDS로 관찰하고, 최종적인 투과전자현미경으로 조사하였다. 각 조건의 편석, 결정립계 및 석출물부위를 주사전자현미경과 EDS 고 관찰한 결과, 이원계 Pd-GA합금의 안정상들에 해당하는 정량적인 조성비는, 단지 상대적으로 Ga의 성분비만 높게 감지되었다. 특히, 세라믹소성 처리후 미세조직에서 형성된 석출물에 근접한 기지조직일수록 Ga의 농도가 상대적으로 줄어든 고갈현상을 확인하엿다. 또한 투과전자현미경의 제한시야회절도형 분석결과, 주조 및 탈개스처리 후 미세조직의 편석부위에서는 GA의 가장 큰 강도를 보였고, 또 Ga과 Pd 고용체 사이에 미세한 판상의 석출물에 기인하는 줄무늬를 관찰하였다. 한편, 세라믹소성처리후 미세조직의 석출물은 금속간화합물 Pd2Ga으로 밝혀졌으며, 기지조직은 <100> 방향을 따라 약 25nm의 폭을 가지는 미세한 섬유상 형태의 소위 "tweed 조직'을 형성하였다.성하였다.

Microstructural Characteristics of Rapidly Solidified Highly Alloyed High Speed Tool Steels (급속응고한 고합금 고속도 공구강의 미세조직 특성)

  • Highly alloyed high speed tool steels(ASP steels) were rapidly solidified by melt spinning process, and the microstructures of melt spun tool steel ribbons were examined by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscope. The microstructure of melt spun tool steel ribbon was found to be consisted of ${\delta}-ferrite$ cells surrounded by austenite and V-rich MC carbides. The size of ${\delta}-ferrite$ cells and intercellular MC carbides were about $0.4{\mu}m$ or less and 30nm or less, respectively. From the melt spun tool steel ribbons, only the MC type carbide phase was observed, instead of $M_2C$, $M_{23}C_6$ and $M_6C$ carbides which were generally observed in other rapidly solidified high speed steels. Such a change in type of carbide phase formed could be attributed to the increase in alloying content of vanadium and carbon. However, changes in microsturcture of melt spun tool steels with alloying content of cobalt, vanadium and carbon were not observed.

A Study on Zirconia/Metal.Functionally Gradient Materials by Sintering Method(1) (소결법에 의한 $ZrO_2/Metal$계 경사기능재료에 관한 연구(1))

  • Functionally gradient materials(FGM), which have the continuous or stepwise variation in a composition and microstructure, are being noticed as the material that solves problems caused by heterogeneous interface of coating or joining. And these materials also expect new functions occured by gradient composition itself. Therefore, to examine possibility of thermal barrier materials, TZP/Mo·FGM and TZP/Ni·FGM were fabricated by sintering method. As to the sintered specimens, sintering shrinkage, relative density and Vicker's hardness in each composition were examined. The phenomena due to the difference of sintering shrinkage velocity during sintering process and the thermal stress induced through differences of thermal expansion coefficient in FGM were discussed. And the structure changes at interface and microsturcture of FGM were investigated. As a results, the difference of shrinkage between ceramic and metal was about 14% in TZP/Mo and 7% in TZP/Ni. The relative density and hardness were considerably influenced by metal content changes. Owing to unbalance of sintering shrinkage velocity between ceramic and metal, various sintering defects were occured. To control these sintering defects and thermal stress, gradient composition of FGM should be narrow. The microstructure changes of FGM depended on the ceramic or metal volume percents and were analogous to the theoretical design.
