  • This work presents the simplified mechanism that the microstrip line generates the radiated emission which is one of the measures on the EMI levels. The electric currents on the metallization of the structure are input to the radiation integrals with the Green's functions being derived to consider the stratification of the microstrip. The simulated results suggest the method of the conceptualization on the RE characteristics of the signal trace in the PCB structure.

  • A novel design of compact low-pass filter based on microstrip structure and its equivalent-circuit model are developed. The philosophy of the structure behind this novel microstrip low-pass filter is simple as it is composed of a pair of symmetrical parallel coupled-line and an open-stub. With this configuration, a finite attenuation pole near the stopband cutoff frequency is available and adjustable by simply tuning the circuit parameters. Furthermore, the rejection bandwidth of this type of low-pass filter can be extended. In order to validate the feasibility of the proposed design method, a low-pass filter based on a microstrip structure is designed, fabricated, and measured. Experimental results agree very well with the simulation and analytical results.

  • The use of microstrip is very common for various passive microwave devices because of the rather simple and planar structure. However, many microstrip devices require fairly large surface areas, which results in real estate problems of finite substrates. In this paper, we proposed a perforated microstrip with longitudinal slow-wave effect and characterized experimentally and theoretically. The impedance matching to the reference impedance(50 $\Omega$) and the quality factor are greatly improved compared to the conventional slow-wave structure with modulated strip. Because of the structural simplicity, it can be easily applied to miniaturize many microstrip devices.

  • In this paper, the optimal design of a novel microstrip directional coupler with a grooved housing for high directivity characteristic is presented. It will be shown that the high directivity of the microstrip coupler can be achieved simply by attaching an optimized housing structure. over the microstrip, which is much easier to fabricate than other conventional types. The dimensions of the proposed structure are maximized by using (1+1) evolution strategy (ES) combined with the deterministic algorithm. To improve the effectiveness of the results, efficient optimization procedures suitable for the model are proposed. From these results, it is determined that the proposed structure indicates an improved directivity. The optimized results are verified by full wave analysis at the center frequency of 850MHz.

  • The SCN-TLM method presented in this paper is another independent approaches for obtaining frequency domain results for microstrip line. The structure analysed with this TLM algorithm is step discontinuity microstrip line and the symmetrical condensed node is used. After numerical analysis, the frequency dependent scattering parameters of a step discontinuity microstrip line have been calculated by Fourier transform of the time domain data. From the time domain TLM numerical results, this numerical analysis is shown to be an efficient method for modelling complicated structure as step discontinuity microstrip line.

  • Microstrip line is one of the most essential elements of microwave and milimeter-wave integrated circuits. And then the frequency dependent characteristics of the microstrip line have previously been analyzed using several frequency domain approaches But the 3-D TLM method presented in this Paper is another independent approaches for obtaining frequency domain results for microstrip line. The structure analysed with this TLM algorithm is step discontinuity microstrip line and the symmetrical condensed node is used. • The problems of electromagnetic coupling and radiation in an aperture-coupled microstrip antenna structure are discussed while focusing on the difference between two representative field configuration: parasitic-type and cavity-type. Based on the discussion, a critical look is taken at the validity of a previous description of the coupling mechanism of m aperture-coupled microstrip antenna.

  • There are various types of antenna fed method; coaxial probe, coupling, parasitic elements, and impedance matching. In this paper, the fed method of the proposed antenna is microstrip line type. The high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) is used to analyze the characteristics of the T-shaped microstrip antenna with various patch dimensions. In comparison with the basic microstrip antenna, this proposed T-shaped microstrip antenna with 40.38 % of patch dimensions has the optimum characteristics of resonant frequency, return loss, and radiation pattern at 2.0 GHz band.
