  • In this paper, we present a microstrip-to-substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) transition and microstrip-to-hollow SIW(HSIW) transition for Ku-band satellite communication systems. For the complete utilization of the HSIW, a structure filled with air instead of a dielectric material, a microstrip-to-HSIW transition is designed, fabricated, and compared with a microstrip-to-SIW transition. A back-to-back microstrip-to-SIW transition is measured in the range 12~18 GHz; it exhibits a return loss ${\geq}20dB$ and an insertion loss of $1.5{\pm}0.2dB$. In contrast, a back-to-back microstrip-to-HSIW transition exhibits a return loss of at least 15 dB and an insertion loss of $0.55{\pm}0.2dB$ in the same frequency range.

  • In this paper, a novel 400MHz band small meander microstrip antenna is proposed the shape of the proposed antenna is a waved meander microstrip with a pair rf short pins on th£ edge. the length of waved meander microstrip is $\lambda_g/4$ but it bends to half its size. Therefore, the total size of the proposed antenna is reduced to about 1/20 which is compared with a square patch antenna the simulated antenna gain is about 3dBi at 424MHz. the proposed antenna of -10dB impedance bandwidth is measured about $1.4\%$.

  • Microstrip open-end and linear resonator are analyzed by method of moment (MoM) taking the entire-domain current distribution, found in literature, along the transverse direction of microstrip line. A transverse correlation function which incorporates permittivity, thickness and width of the line is derived. Numerical examples are investigated and compared with the available other data and methods in order to give the validity of the proposed method. It is found that the proposed method can generate more accurate results than the conventional methods.

  • We proposed a novel feed structure for a broadband circular slot antenna. The proposed antenna has a circular slot, a radiating element, and a novel microstrip feed structure which is composed of a 50 Ω microstrip feedline and a circular-shaped microstrip patch. This antenna is analyzed and optimized by using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The impedance bandwidth of optimized antenna is 1.94 octave that is much broader than the conventional microstrip slot antennas.

  • A microstrip circuit with multilayer structure is applied variously in the MMIC. For effective transmission between microstrip lines with different dielectric height, it is need to analyze and to induce accurately the equivalent circuit in 3 dimensional stepped discontinuous microstrip line. In this paper, by using the S parameters obtained by FDTD numerical method and measurement, T equivalent circuit and its element values were induced. And the analyzed and measured results showed good agreement in 1 ∼5 ㎓ range.

  • Rectangular microstrip antenna array using Chebyscheff polynomial is designed. The required relative currents in the rectangular microstrip array antenna are 1:2:2:1. The input admittance and returen loss of array antenna are calculated from transmission line model circuit include feed line. The calculated resonant frequency valused are in good agreement with measured values. Also, the sharp beam scanning characteristic of perfect electronic method is presented.

  • In this paper, we presented the quasi-static characteristics of novel microstrip lines with anisotropic grooved dielectric in finite metal. A quasi-static mode-matching method has been used to analyze this new structure and the simulation results are validated through comparison with other available results. The results in this paper show that it is possible to control the propagation characteristics of microstrip lines with the use of anisotropic grooved dielectric in finite metal. Also anisotropic grooved dielectric in microstrip line can be newly added to the design parameters of high performance three dimensional monolithic microwave circuits and other microwave applications.

  • In this paper, we proposed a procedure to analyze a shielded-microstrip step discontinuity using the mode matching method (MMM) combined with the vector finite element method (VFEM), which is used to find the equivalent waveguide-model for a microstrip. In order to calculate the effective-widths and -dielectric permittivity of the equivalent waveguide-model corresponding shielded-microstrip, the propagation constant and characteristic impedance are calculated from the VFEM. MMM is then applied to find the scattering parameter in the planar waveguide. This technique makes it possible to take advantage of the high accuracy of the VFEM as well as the high efficiency of the MMM.

  • In this paper, using symmetrical condensed node(SCN), the TLM numerical technique has been successfully applied to microstrip meander line. A detailed technique of the symmetrical condensed node(SCN) may be used to model planar microstrip transmission line is presented. Also, the S-parameters $S_{11}$ and $S_{21}$ of microstrip meander line have been computed. From obtained results, TLM analysis is shown to be an efficient method for modeling complicated structure of planar microstrip transmission line.
