Ah Myeong Dan (兒明丹) is Chinese patent medicine which is used for congenital fever and congenital boils in Korea. It consists of 11 kinds of powdered crude drugs. In powdered crude drugs, it is hard to identify each component by chemical analysis or morphological examination. However, the method of identification of powdered crude drugs has not been clearly established. Therefore, it is of interest to establish the microscopic method for identification of powdered crude drugs of Chinese patent medicines. The effectiveness of microscopic method is exemplified by the identification of tissue and contents of crude drugs by comparison with standard drugs. In this study, it is demonstrated that the microscopic method is very effective for the identification of 11 crude drug ingredients in Ah Myeong Dan.
Microscopic method was compared with X-ray diflraction analysis for the identification of rockforming minerals using 11 main rock samples in Korea. 1. There was no difference between X-ray diffraction analysis and microscopic one in major minerals, but some accessary minerals. 2. The rock-forming minerals of main rocks presented in this study occured almost in crystalline state so that they could be easily identified by X-ray analysis alone.

Nonlinear stress analysis of nuclear containment building is carried out using microscopic concrete material model. The present study mainly focuses on the evaluation of the ultimate pressure capacity of idealized containment building in nuclear power plant. For this purpose, an eight-node degenerated shell element it adopted and an imaginary opening in the apex of containment building is allowed in FE model. From numerical analysis, the adopted concrete material model performs well and has a good agreement with the result obtained by using ABAQUS. Finally, we propose the present study as a benchmark test for nonlinear analysis of containment building.
Purpose: Controversy exists regarding whether pediatric blunt abdominal trauma patients with microscopic hematuria should undergo radiographic evaluation. Adult patients have indications such as shock and deceleration injury. This study was conducted to suggest indications for the use of CT to detect significant renal injury in pediatric blunt abdominal trauma patients with microscopic hematuria. Methods: From January 2005 to December 2009, patients less than 18 years of age with blunt abdominal trauma and microscopic hematuria who had undergone CT were included in this retrospective study. We analyzed the correlation between microscopic hematuria, shock, deceleration injury, and American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) renal injury grade. Patients were divided into two groups: the insignificant renal injury group (AAST grade 1) and the significant renal injury group (AAST grades 2-5). We compared age, gender, mechanism of injury, degree of microscopic hematuria, evidence of shock, presence of deceleration injury, and associated injuries between the two groups. We analyzed the effect of each of the above each factors on renal injury by using a logistic regression analysis. Results: Forty-three children were included, and the median age was 15 years. Five children had a significant renal injury. No significant differences, except age and microscopic hematuria (more than 30 red blood cells per high power field (RBC/HPF), p = 0.005) existed between the insignificant and the significant injury groups. A positive correlation existed between renal injury and microscopic hematuria (rho = 0.406, p = 0.007), but renal injury was not correlated with shock and deceleration injury. In the multivariate regression analysis, microscopic hematuria was the only factor correlated with renal injury (p = 0.042). Conclusion: If a microscopic hematuria of more than 30 RBC/HPF exists, the use of CT should be considerd, regardless of shock and deceleration injury to detect significant renal injury in pediatric blunt abdominal trauma patients.
In the present study, the characteristic of flow distribution in the channel of a plate heat exchanger is investigated numerically. In order to accomplish the efficient and fast analyses of the flow characteristics in the channel, a semi-microscopic analysis has been performed using a porous media model. For semi-microscopic analysis using porous media, the flow resistance coefficients are obtained through the result of pressure drop in the experimental data. The results showed that the variation of mass flow rate, geometry and chevron angle strongly depend on the flow distribution in the channel. Particularly, the chevron angle is most important factor for uniform flow distribution.

Nonlinear stress analysis of nuclear containment building wall element is carried out using microscopic material model. The present study mainly focuses on the finite element analysis of the nuclear containment building wall element under biaxial tensile stresses and it evaluates the perfomance of adopted microscopic material model in the membrane energy dominant situation. From the numerical analysis, the adopted material model peforms well and has a good agreement with experiment result. Finally, the result of present study can be severed as a benchmark test when concrete material model is in need of evaluation.
This paper deals with the asymptotic analysis of Mohr-Coulomb and Drucker-Prager soft thin layers bonded with elastic solids. In the first part, a mathematical analysis shows how to obtain an interface law that replaces mechanically and geometrically the thin layer. This law is strongly non-linear and couples microscopic and macroscopic scales. In the second part of the paper, the microscopic terms are quantified numerically, and it is shown that they can be neglected.
Shin Kwae Hwan(神快丸) is a Chinese patent medicine which has been used for polymyositis, trigeminal neuralgiaand ischiodynia in Korea. It consists of 15 kinds of powdered crude drugs. In powered crude drugs, it is hard to identify each component by chemical analysis or morphological examination. However, the method of identification of powdered crude drugs has not been clearly established. For the identification of individual crude drugs in such powdery mixtures, microscopic method may advantageously be used, as it requires only small amount of specimens. In this study, it is demonstrated that the microscopic method is very effective for the identification of 15 crude drug ingredients in Shin Kwae Hwan.
'An Che Whan(安滯九)' is a Chinese patent medicine which has been used for gastric ulcer and digestive disorder in Korea. It consists of 15 kinds of powdered crude drugs. In powdered crude drugs, it is hard to identify each component by chemical analysis or morphological examination. However, the method of identification of powdered crude drugs has not been clearly established. For the identification of individual crude drugs in such powdery mixtures, a microscopic method may be used conveniently as it requires only a small amount of specimens. In this study, it is demonstrated that the microscopic method is very effective fer the identification of the 15 crude drug ingredients in An Che Whan.
Man Kyung Dan(萬經丹) is a Chinese patent medicine which has been used for rheumatic neuralgia, apoplexy, extremitas neurolepsis in Korea. It consists of 16 kinds of powdered crude drugs. In this study, it is demonstrated that the microscopic method is very effective for the identification of 16 crude drug ingredients in Man kyung Dan.
