  • Micro EDM(Electric Discharge Machining) is one of the most powerful technologies which are capable of fabricating micro-structure without any problems from high cutting force. However, there is a significant defect in the part machining with deep holes or pockets, because debris which are generated by electric discharging may frequently cause a short circuit between an electrode and workpiece material. Vibration flushing can reduce the undesirable phenomena with dynamic flow of EDM fluid in a deep and choked area. In this study, Vibration flushing with solenoid is suggested and the results show that the method can generate a remarkable EDM efficiency with high amplitude at a low frequency in comparison with current vibration flushing methods with high frequency using piezo actuators.

  • Top emission organic light-emitting diode (TEOLED) is commonly used because of high efficiency and good color purity than bottom - emission organic light-emitting device (BEOLED). Unlike BEOLED, TEOLED contain semitransparent metal cathode and capping layer. Because there are many characteristics to consider just simple thickness change, optimizing organic thickness of TEOLED for microcavity is difficult. So, in this study, we optimized Device capping layer at unoptimized micro-cavity structure TEOLED device. And we compare only capping layer with unoptimized microcavity structure can overcome optimized micro-cavity structure device. We used previous our optimized micro-cavity structure to compare each other. As a result, it has been found that the efficiency can be obtained almost the same or higher only capping layer, which is stacked on top of the device and controls only the thickness and refractive index, without complicated structural calculations. This means that higher efficiencies can be obtained more easily in laboratories with limited organic materials or when optimizing new structures etc.

  • This paper presents a novel electrostatic drop-on-demand inkjet device featured by a MEMS fabricated pole-type and hole-type nozzle with tube shaped orifice and investigates the feasibility of applying the inkjet device to display fabrication process. The electric voltage signal applied to the ring shaped upper electrode plate, against the hole-shaped ground or pole-shaped ground, referred here pole-type and hole-type nozzle respectively, allows ejection of small droplet to take place: That is, a tiny droplet is taken away from the peak of the mountain shaped liquid meniscus formed at the nozzle orifice. It is verified experimentally that the use of the pole type nozzle allows a stable and sustainable micro-dripping mode of droplet ejection for a wider range of applied voltages and of liquid viscosities. This demonstrates a feasibility of electrostatic drop-on-demand inkjet device as a disruptive alternative to conventional print heads such as thermal bubble or piezoelectric inkjet heads.

  • Authors have developed highly reproducible calibration method for the Micro-Selectron HDR Ir-192 system (Nucletron, Motherland). The new jig has a 10cm radius circular hole in the $30cm{\times}30cm{\times}0.2cm$ acrylic plate, and 5F flexible bronchial tubes are attached around the hole. The source moves along the circle in the tubes and the ionization chamber is placed verticaly at the center of the circular hole (center of the jig). Dose distribution near the center was derived theoretically, and measured with the film dosimetry system. Theoretical calculation and measurement show the error margin below $0.1\%$ for 1mm or 2mm position deviation. We have measured at 12 and 24 points of circle with 1, 6, 11 and 21 second dwell time of source in order to calculate the activity of the source. Measurements have been repeated daily for 50 days. The accuracy and the reproducibility are below $1\%$ error margin. The half life of the source from our measurement is estimated $73.4\pm0.4$ days.

  • When drilling using electrical-discharge machining (EDM), severe electrode wear makes in-process measurements of the depth of the drilled hole and the volume of material removed impossible. To estimate the volume of material removed a reliable real-time discharge pulse counting method is proposed by assuming that the volume removed in EDM is proportional to the number of discharge pulses from an iso-energy pulse generator. The geometry of machined holes, including depths and cross-sectional profiles, is estimated using geometric analysis. A proportional relationship between the volume of material removed and the number of discharge pulses was developed and verified by experiments.

But in order to equip the high technology and high accuracy of micro stone which is one of grinding stone a continuous effort on R& D is require. In this study the honing processing work of 2 cycle engine cylinder for motorcycle which has an open hole is carried out so as to investigate the boring and hone stone effects on accuracy of honing. As the experimental result of this study we could conclude that it is possible to secure good conditions of honing by controlling and keeping appropriate cycle-time in the stage of boring for the prior step of honing.

  • In this study, a micro-cavity organic light-emittingdevice (OLED) with semi-transparent-Ag/AgO hole injecting layer (HIL) was fabricated and their performance was investigated. For the fabrication of OLEDs N,N-diphenyl-N,N-(3-methyphenyl)-1,1-biphenyl-4-4-diamine (TPD), known as a hole transporting material and tris (8-hydroxyquinolinato)-aluminum ($Alq_3$) as both electron-transporting layer (ETL) and emission layer (EML) were deposited using thermal evaporation technique. And Al layer as cathode was then deposited using thermal evaporation technique. Effects of the semi-transparent-Ag/AgO layers on the resulting OLED performance were investigated.

  • Laser ablation with femtosecond lasers is highly promising for microfabrication of materials. Also, the high peak power of femtosecond lasers could induce a multiphoton absorption to ablate transparent materials. Similar results have also been were obtained in the case of optical fibers. In this paper, we present our experimental results of femtosecond laser microstructuring of optical fiber and its applications to microelectronic components and fiber optic devices. Finally, we directly produced micro holes with femtosecond laser pulses in a single step by moving an optical fiber in a preprogrammed structure. When water was introduced into a hole drilled from the bottom surface of the optical fiber, the effects of blocking and redeposition of ablated material were greatly reduced and the aspect ratio of the depth of the hole was increased. We have presented circular and rectangular-shaped holes in optical fiber.
