마이크로 원통형 SOFC 제작 및 특성평가 (Fabrication and Evaluation Properties of Micro-Tubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs))

  • 본 연구에서는 마이크로 원통형 SOFC 지지체의 특성을 평가하기 위해 직경 3 mm의 연료극 지지체를 제조하여 지지체의 미세구조를 분석하고, 기계적 강도 및 가스투과도를 측정하였다. 다공성 연료극 지지체의 표면과 파단면의 미세구조를 분석하기 위해 SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)을 이용하였다. 지지체의 가스투과도는 차압계를 이용하여 50, 100, 150 cc/min의 유량에서 측정하였으며, 기계적 강도는 만능 시험기를 이용하여 측정하였다. 마이크로 원통형 연료극 지지체의 기본적인 물성 평가 후 NiO-YSZ, YSZ, YSZ-LSM/LSM/LSCF로 구성된 마이크로 SOFC 단위전지를 제조하였으며, 반응온도와 연료 유량별로 성능평가를 수행하여 $800^{\circ}C$에서 $1095mW/cm^2$의 출력이 얻어짐을 확인하였다. 또한, 반응 온도에 따른 전기화학적 임피던스 특성평가를 통하여 온도가 높아질수록 전해질 이온전도도가 증가되어 ohmic 저항이 감소되고 그에 따라 마이크로 관형 SOFC 셀 성능이 증가함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This is the experimental research that tries to explain a variety of RH is how to affect the cell performance and the flooding phenomenon of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). A value of PH changes to 0%, 50% and 90% as its variation, either stoichiometric flow rate changes to 1.5, 2 and 4. Into the comparison between theoretical and experimental value, this study analyzes that a variety of PH is how 10 affect flooding in the cathode of the proton exchange membrane fuel cell. The effect of air stoichiometry, air humidity and different flow fields are also discussed in this paper This study has accomplished the measurement of performance as the variety of RH in the cathode of proton exchange membrane fuel cell, moreover it has recorded the visualization of flooding in the cathode with a high-speed micro camera.

Improved Power Capability with Pyrolyzed Carbon Electrodes in Micro Direct Photosynthetic/Metabolic Bio-fuel Cell

  • As a biofuel source, direct photosynthetic/metabolic biofuel cells (DPBFC) use cyanobacteria whose photosynthesis and metabolization reactions can convert light energy to electricity, In our previous work, we fabricated a prototype micro-DPBFC that could generate a peak current density of $36{\mu}A/cm^{2}$ and a maximum power density of $270nW/cm^{2}$. In this study, we improve on the previous results by using carbon micro electromechanical systems (C-MEMS), formed from the pyrolysis of patterned photoresist, to fabricate carbon electrodes of an arbitrary shape and controlled porosity to increase the surface area. With these new C-MEMS electrodes, the maximum power density of the micro-DPBFC was $516nW/cm^{2}$, a performance twice as good as the results of our previous work.

DS 알고리즘을 이용한 마이크로 그리드 최적운영기법 (Optimal Operation Method of Microgrid System Using DS Algorithm)

  • This paper presents an application of Differential Search (DS) meta-heuristic optimization algorithm for optimal operation of micro grid system. DS algorithm has the benefit of high convergence rate and precision compared to other optimization methods. The micro grid system consists of a wind turbine, a diesel generator, and a fuel cell. The simulation is applied to micro grid system only. The wind turbine generator is modeled by considering the characteristics of variable output. One day load data which is divided every 20 minute and wind resource for wind turbine generator are used for the study. The method using the proposed DS algorithm is easy to implement, and the results of the convergence performance are better than other optimization algorithms.

  • 장기 체공 무인 항공기를 위한 연료 전지 동력 시스템을 개발하였다. 기존의 고압 수소 저장 방식의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 높은 에너지 밀도를 갖는 액상의 화학 수소화물을 연료로 사용하였다. 수소화물을 전환하여 수소를 발생하는 연료 공급 장치는 촉매 반응기, 펌프, 연료 카트리지, 분리기, 제어기로 구성되어 있으며, 전력을 발생하기 위한 연료전지 스택과 함께 연료 전지 동력 시스템을 무인 항공기에 탑재하였다. 연료 전지 동력 시스템을 무인 항공기에 적용하기 위한 성능 검증을 수행하였다.

  • Fuel cells is proved that potential energy is greater than the existing power generation. In this paper, we describe a principle of fuel cell which is used for next generation portable battery and brief characteristic of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) that used for portable appliances by miniaturization of polymer electrolyte fuel cell. Lastly we describe about research investment for fuel cells.

전기화학반응을 수반한 유로채널 형상에 따른 마찰계수에 대한 연구 (Friction Factor in Micro Channel Flow with Electrochemical Reactions in Fuel Cell)

  • 주어진 연료전지면적에서 반응면적이 넓을수록 성능이 향상되는 연료전지는 좁은 폭의 채널을 여러 개 존재하게 하는 구조를 선호하지만 채널 폭이 좁아질수록 압력이 커지는 문제가 고려되어져야 한다. 그러나 현재 채널 구조에 따른 압력에 대한 연구는 많이 진행되어져 왔지만 대부분 반응을 고려하지 않았으며, 반응을 고려한 경우에 어떤 경향을 나타내는지 알아보는 것이 연료전지 유로설계에 있어 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서 화학반응을 고려한 평행류, 90도 밴드형, serpentine 세가지 종류의 유로채널를 가진 연료전지를 수치 해석하여 반응을 고려하지 않은 경우와 마찰계수(fRe), 속도, 압력강하를 비교하여 본 결과 parallel과 bend 형태의 채널은 반응을 고려한 경우 반응에 의한 밀도의 감소에 따라 근소하게 감소한 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 serpentine채널은 다공성매체인 확산층을 통해 인접한 채널로 가스가 이동하는 bypass flow 영향에 의하여 상대적으로 낮은 압력강하를 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다.

마이크로 연료전지용 MEMS 메탄올 개질기의 가공과 성능시험 (Fabrication and Performance Evaluation of MEMS Methanol Reformer for Micro Fuel Cells)

  • A MEMS methanol reformer was fabricated and its performance was evaluated in the present study. Catalytic steam reforming of methanol was selected because the process had been widely applied in macro scale reformers. Conventional Cu/ZnO catalyst that was prepared by co-precipitation method to give the highest coating quality was used. The reactor structure was made by bonding three layers of glass wafers. The internal structure of the wafer was fabricated by the wet-etching process that resulted in a high aspect ratio. The internal surface of the reactor was coated by catalyst and individual wafers were fusion-bonded to form the reactor structure. The internal volume of the microfabricated reactor was $0.3cm^3$ and the reactor produced exhaust gas with hydrogen concentration at 73%. The production rate of hydrogen was 4.16 ml/hr that could generate power of 350 mW in a typical PEM fuel cell.

공급유량 및 스택온도의 변이에 따른 200W급 PEM형 연료전지의 전기적 성능특성 (Electrical Performance Characteristics of 200W PEM-Type Fuel Cells with Variations on Mass Flow Rate and Stack Temperature)

  • The polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) with the advantages of low-operating temperature, high current density, low cost and volume, fast start-up ability, and suitability for discontinuous operation becomes the most reasonable and attractive power system for transportation vehicle and micro-grid power plant in a household. 200W PEM-type FCs system was integrated by this study, then the electrical characteristics and diagnosis of the fuel cell were analyzed with variations on mass flow rate and stack temperature. The ranges of the variations are 1~8L/min on $H_2$ volume and $20{\sim}70^{\circ}C$ on stack temperature.

Effects of Ru Co-Sputtering on the Properties of Porous Ni Thin Films

  • NiO films and Ru co-sputtered NiO films were deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering for micro-solid oxide fuel cell anode applications. The deposited films were reduced to form porous films. The reduction kinetics of the Ru doped NiO film was more sluggish than that of the NiO film, and the resulting microstructure of the former exhibited finer pore networks. The possibility of using the films for the anodes of single chamber micro-SOFCs was investigated using an air/fuel mixed environment. It was found that the abrupt increase in the resistance is suppressed in the Ru co-sputtered film, as compared to undoped film.
