Modeling of IPMC (Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite) Sensor to Effectively Detect the Bending Angles of a Body

  • Ionic polymer-metal composite(IPMC) consists of an ion conductive membrane plated by metallic electrodes on both surfaces. When it bends, a voltage is generated between two electrodes. Since IPMC is flexible and thin, it can be easily mounted on the various surfaces of a body. The present study investigates a sensor system using IPMC to effectively detect the bending angles applied on IPMC sensor. The paper evaluates several R and C circuit models that describe the physical composition of IPMC and selects the best model for the detection of angles. The circuit models implemented with a charge model describe the relationship between input bending angles and output voltages. The identification of R and C values was performed by minimizing the error between the real output voltages and the simulated output voltages from the circuit models of IPMC sensor. Then the output signal of a sensor was fed into the inverse model of the identified model to reproduce the bending angles. In order to support the validation of the model, the output voltages from an arbitrary bending motion were also applied to the selected inverse model, which successfully reproduced the arbitrary bending motion.

양이온교환용량이 다른 제올라이트 처리에 따른 밭토양 내 중금속 안정화 평가 (Application of Zeolite with Different Cation Exchange Capacity for the Stabilization of Heavy Metals in Upland Soil)

  • This study was aimed to investigate the influence of cation exchange capacity (CEC) and application amounts of zeolite on the stabilization of heavy metals (As, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in upland soils. The upland soils were sampled from field near mines located in Gyeonggi Province. The CEC of zeolite was treated at three different levels, ie, low, medium, and high, while zeolite was amended with soils at the ratio of 0.1 % and 0.5 % as to soil weight. A sequential extraction was performed for the soil sampled at 1, 2 4, and 8 week after zeolite was added to the soil. The concentrations of Pb and Zn appeared to be high in the sampled soils. The mobility of heavy metals obtained from sequential experiments was as follows: Pb > Zn > Ni >As. Addition of zeolite to contaminated soils effectively reduced exchangeable and carbonate fractions but increased organic and residual fraction, indicating that zeolite is effective for immobilizing heavy metals in soils. The influence of incubation time on the metal stabilization was rather pronounced as compared to the application amount and CEC of zeolite.

중금속 오염 폐광산 주변토양의 세정 (Soil Washing of Abandoned Mine Soils Contaminated by Heavy Metals)

  • Batch experiments were performed to evaluate the applicability of soil washing for heavy metal contaminated soils at Nacdong and Hamchang abandoned mines. The texture of the Nacdong soil was sandy loam. Nacdong abandoned mine soil was almost neutral (pH=6.5). Contaminations of As, Cd, Pb and Zn for Nacdong mine soils were 12,900 mg/kg, 29 mg/kg, 696 mg/kg and 276 mg/kg, respectively. Hamchang abandoned mine soils were acidic (pH=2.6) and the soil texture was loam. The contaminations of As, Cd, Pb and Zn for Hamchang abandoned mine soils were 6,410 mg/kg, 291 mg/kg, 1,300 mg/kg and 1,110 mg/kg, respectively. For the Nacdong abandoned mine soils, oxalic acid was found to be the most effective soil washing extracter for As and Pb while citric acid was the most effective extracter for Cd. For the Hamchang abandoned mine soils, oxalic acid showed the highest extraction efficiencies for As and Pb, whilst citric acid presented the best soil washing efficiencie for Cd. Oxalic acid and EDTA were found to be the most effective soil washing extracter for the Hamchang abandoned mine contaminated soils.

휴폐광산 지역에서 유출되는 하천수의 오염도 평가 (Assessment of Water Pollution by Discharge of Abandoned Mines)

  • 옥동천 유역의 상류에 위치한 명진탄광, 서진탄광, 옥동탄광 등이 1988년 이후 석탄합리화 사업으로 인하여 휴폐광 되었다. 따라서 많은 양의 광산 폐재가 적당한 처리시설이 없이 그대로 유입되어 하류지역의 수질오염을 야기 시킨다. 폐탄광으로부터 유출되는 침출수와 산성광산배수는 pH $2.7\sim4.5$의 강한 산성을 나타내며, 총용존물질은 $1,030\sim1,947mg/L$로 높은 범위를 나타낸다. 또한 Fe, Cu, Cd 같은 중금속의 농도와 음이온인 황산이온 등도 매우 높은 농도를 보인다. 옥동천내에 포함된 중금속의 농도는 Fe>Al>Mn>Zn>Cu>Pb>Cd 순으로 나타났으며, 철의 경우 산성광산배수와 침출수로 부터 옥동천 하류의 수질과 토양의 질을 나타내는 지표가 된다. 구리농도는 풍수기에 공재댐 배출수에서 높은 농도를 나타냈다. 표층수의 수질오염지표는 폐탄광의 산성광산배수가 유입되는 옥동천 본류 상류에서 $16.3\sim47.1$을 나타냈다. 반면에 구광재댐과 신광재댐 및 폐탄광의 배출수가 유입되는 중류에서 $10.6\sim19.5$를, 하류에서는 평균값인 $10.6\sim14.9$를 보여, 상류지역의 폐탄광의 산성광산배수가 옥동천의 주 오염원인 것으로 나타났다.

  • 환경오염저감 및 제어기술은 환경/방재 기술분야로 포스트 반도체 주력산업의 고도화분야에 해당되며, 그 중 오염토양 및 지하수 복원기술은 앞으로 많은 수요가 예상되는 핵심기술이라 할 것이다. 국내의 경우 폐금속광산이 다수 존재하며 이로 인한 중금속 및 비소오염문제가 심각해지고 있는 시점에서 이를 복원하기 위한 최신기술의 동향을 알아보는 것이 필요할 것이다. 현재 이 분야의 선진국인 미국 및 유럽각국에서의 기술개발은 2차적인 오염을 유발하지 않을 청정기술의 개발과 개발기술의 현장적용에 초점이 맞추어 지고 있는 추세이다. 여기에 최근에 개발되어진 신기술중에 이러한 장점으로 인해 주목받고 있는 기술인 전기동력학 기술, 투수성 반응벽체기술, 고형화/안정화기술, 박테리아를 이용한 생체흡착기술, 박테리아를 이용한 용출기술, 식물정화기술을 소개하고자 한다.

Effect of button mushroom compost on mobilization of heavy metals by sunflower

  • The potential ability of Button mushroom compost (BMC) to solubilize heavy metals was estimated with metal contaminated soils collected from abandoned mines of Boryeong area in South Korea. The bacterial strains in BMC were isolated for investigating the mobilization of metals in soil or plant by the strains and identified according to 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. When metal solubilization potential of BMC was assessed in a batch experiment, the BMC was found to be capable of solubilizing metals in the presence of metals (Co, Pb and Zn) and the results showed that inoculation of BMC could increase the concentrations of water soluble Co, Pb and Cd by 35, 25 and 45% respectively, than those of non-inoculated soils. BMC-assisted growth promotion and metal uptake in sunflower (Helianthus annuus) was also evaluated in a pot experiment. In comparison with non-inoculated seedlings, the inoculation led to increase the growth of H. annuus by 27, 25 and 28% respectively in Co, Pb and Zn contaminated soils. Moreover, enhanced accumulation of Co, Pb and Zn in the shoot and root systems was observed in inoculated plants, where metal translocation from root to the above-ground tissues was also found to be enhanced by the BMC. The apparent results suggested that the BMC could effectively be employed in enhancing phytoextraction of Co, Pb and Zn from contaminated soils.

지뢰탐지용 48채널 배열 UWB 임펄스 레이더 방식 지면투과레이더시스템 개발 (Ground Penetrating Radar System for Landmine Detection Using 48 Channel UWB Impulse Radar)

  • 본 논문은 지뢰탐지용 48채널 배열 UWB 임펄스 레이다 방식의 지면투과레이다 구현과 시험에 대해 기술한다. 지면투과레이더는 기존 금속탐지기의 한계인 비금속 지뢰 탐지의 어려움과 매질 내 금속 성분에 의해 발생하는 높은 오경보 문제점을 극복한다. 본 논문에서는 펄스폭이 600ps 급인 미세한 모노싸이클(Monocycle) 펄스 파형을 사용해, 높은 해상도의 지뢰 전자파 영상을 제공토록 시스템을 구현한다. 특히 신호처리를 통해 지뢰가 매설된 지점을 자동으로 추정하고, 해당 지점에서의 분할된 상세 지뢰 전자파 영상을 사용자에게 제공한다. 기준 성능 분석을 위해 한국 대표 토양인 거친 사양토를 사용한 실내 시험장을 구축하고, 시험장 내의 자동화된 측정 플랫폼에 구현한 레이다를 장착하여 영상 획득 및 탐지심도 분석 등의 시험을 수행한다. 지뢰는 비무장 지대에 매설된 지뢰와 동일한 형태의 모형 지뢰를 사용한다.

석탄광의 광산배수처리기술 현황 및 전망 (An Overview of Coal Mine Drainage Treatment)

  • 본 고에서는 우리나라 폐 석탄광 광산배수의 자연정화처리시설현황과 향후 광산배수 수질개선을 위한 기술수요를 전망하였다. 우리나라 폐 석탄광에서는 현재 약 8만톤의 갱내수가 유출되고 있으며 약 50톤/일 이상 갱내수에 대해서 자연정화시설을 설치하여 갱내수 수질개선사업을 추진하고 있다. 13개 광산에 설치된 자연정화시설의 현장수질분석 및 설계내용을 검토한 결과 SAPS 공정이 Fe의 재용출 현상이 없고 성능면에서 편차가 적어 광산배수의 중화 및 금속 정화에 핵심 공정으로 파악되었다. SAPS 의 정화성능 및 수명에 미치는 물리적 영향은 슬러지 누적에 의한 투수 계수 감소와 체류시간 등이었다. 향후 자연정화시설의 성능을 지속시킬 수 있는 기술개발과 오염부하가 큰 갱내수 처리기술과 채굴적 현장 수질개선 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

ALIS : GPR System for Humanitarian Demining and Its Deployment in Cambodia

  • Humanitarian demining is very important issue not only in mine affected courtiers but also for the courtiers which are technically, politically and financially supporting the mine affected courtiers. In order to achieve higher efficiency of the mine clearance operation, new technologies can significantly contribute to the societies. Since 2002, Tohoku University, Japan has developed a sensor system "ALIS" for humanitarian demining. ALIS is a hand-held dual sensor, which combines an electromagnetic induction sensor (EMI) and a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). ALIS has a real-time sensor tracking system based on a CCD camera and which enables the image reconstruction. We have tested ALIS in Cambodia and found that it can eliminate more than 70 % metal fragments. Since 2009, 2 sets of ALIS have detected more than 80 anti-personnel mines, and cleared more than 137,000 $m^2$ in Cambodia.

폐광미-소석회 고화체의 동결융해 내구성에 관한 연구 (Durability of the Solidified Mine Tailing-Hydrated Lime Mixture Against Repeated Freezing and Thawing)

  • The tailings piled in abandoned mines are well-known potential sources of soil contamination. Hydrated limes were applied as cementing materials to solidify heavy metal contaminated tailings for the purpose of reducing their toxicity and migration rates. The optimum mixing ratio of tailings, hydrated lime, and water was determined through a preliminary test. The mixtures of mine tailings and hydrated lime solidified through pozzolanic reaction were tested for their durability against repeated freezing and thawing processes. After repeated freezing and thawing, the uniaxial compressive strengths of all the solidified mixture specimens decreased in comparison with those before test but still higher than $3.5kgf/cm^2$, the standard recommended for land reclamation solids by EPA(Environmental Protection Agency), which suggested that hydrated lime be a potential material to treat the abandoned mine tailings for the environmental purpose.
