Dry Etching Characteristics of $YMnO_3$ Thin Films Using Inductively Coupled Plasma (유도결합 플라즈마를 이용한 $YMnO_3$ 박막의 건식 식각 특성 연구)

  • YMnO$_3$ films are excellent gate dielectric materials of ferroelectric random access memories (FRAMs) with MFSFET (metal -ferroelectric-semiconductor field effect transistor) structure because YMnO$_3$ films can be deposited directly on Si substrate and have a relatively low permittivity. Although the patterning of YMnO$_3$ thin films is the requisite for the fabrication of FRAMs, the etch mechanism of YMnO$_3$ thin films has not been reported. In this study, YMnO$_3$thin films were etched with Cl$_2$/Ar gas chemistries in inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The maximum etch rate of YMnO$_3$ film is 285$\AA$/min under Cl$_2$/(Cl$_2$+Ar) of 1.0, RF power of 600 W, dc-bias voltage of -200V, chamber pressure of 15 mTorr and substrate temperature of $25^{\circ}C$. The selectivities of YMnO$_3$ over CeO$_2$ and $Y_2$O$_3$ are 2.85, 1.72, respectively. The selectivities of YMnO$_3$ over PR and Pt are quite low. Chemical reaction in surface of the etched YMnO$_3$ thin films was investigated with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) surface of the selected YMnO$_3$ thin films was investigated with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). The etch profile was also investigated by scaning electron microscopy(SEM)

Effect of Color Development of Willemite Crystalline Glaze by Adding NiO (Willemite 결정유에 NiO 첨가가 발색에 미치는 영향)

  • When metal oxides are added into crystalline glaze, colors of glaze and crystals are similar as colorants generally. But the case of NiO in zinc crystalline glaze is different from general color development. When NiO is added to zinc crystalline glaze it can develop two or three colors. The active use of color development mechanism by adding NiO to the zinc crystalline glaze to control color of the base glaze and crystal with stability is investigated. This report is expected to contribute to the ceramic industry in improving application of zinc crystalline glaze. For the experiment of NiO, the quantity of NiO additives is changed to the base glaze for the most adequate formation of willemite crystal from previous research and firing condition: temperature increasing speed $5^{\circ}C/min$, holding 1 h at $1270^{\circ}C$, annealing speed $3^{\circ}C/min$ till $1170^{\circ}C$, holding 2 h at $1170^{\circ}C$ then naturally annealed. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis, and Micro-Raman. The result of the procedure as follows; Ni substitutes for Zn ion then glaze develops blue willemite crystals, as if cobalt is used, on brown glaze base. When NiO quantity is increased to over 5 wt%, willemite size is decreased, and the density of the crystal is increased, at the same time $Ni_2SiO_4$ (olivine) phase, the second phase, has been developed. The excessive NiO is reacted with silicate in the glass then developed green $Ni_2SiO_4$ (olivine), and quantity of $Ni_2SiO_4$ (olivine) is increased as quantity of willemite is decreased. It is proved to create three colors, blue, brown and green by controlling the quantity of NiO to the zinc crystalline glaze and it will improve the multiple use of colors to the ceramic design.

  • Corrosion of reinforcement is the main cause of damage and early failure of reinforced concrete structures. The corrosion is mainly progressed by the chloride ingress. In this paper, an experimental study is executed to investigate the effect of concrete properties and testing methods on the coefficients of chloride diffusion. Also, it is surveyed the relationship between total chloride and free chloride in concrete. According to this experiment results, W/C ratio and testing method affect chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete. As W/C ratio is increased, diffusion coefficient in concrete is also increased. Diffusion coefficient obtained by each testing method show the different values, respectively. The model equation of diffusion coefficient with W/C ratio is proposed.

Effects of Bovine α-Lactalbumin Added with Oleic Acid and Microbial Transglutaminase on Cancer Cell Apoptosis (올레산과 미생물 유래 트랜스글루타미나제를 첨가한 우유 알파-락트알부민의 암세포사멸 효과)

  • In order to investigate the biological effects of conformational changes in the folding state of bovine ${\alpha}$-lactalbumin (${\alpha}$-La), the protein was prepared and classified as apo form, microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) added form, or bovine ${\alpha}$-La made lethal to tumor cell (BAMLET) form. Apo ${\alpha}$-La form showed weaker cancer cell inhibitory activity (apoptosis) than native ${\alpha}$-La, which suggests that the metal ion-like $Ca^{2+}$ had a positive effect, whereas BAMLET form showed strong cancer cell apoptotic activity. The BAMLET form seemed to be a molten globule structure that increased hydrophobicity. MTGase added to apo ${\alpha}$-La polymer showed similar anti-cancer activity as native ${\alpha}$-La, and it was well hydrolyzed by digestive enzymes. NMR results showed that BAMLET interacted with oleic acid and produced a complex.

Shape Control of Anodic Aluminum Oxide and Effect as Support of Silicon Powder Electrode (양극산화알루미늄의 형상제어와 이를 이용한 실리콘 분말 전극 지지체 효과)

  • Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) has been widely used for the development and fabrication of nano-powder with various morphologies such as particle, wire, rod, and tube. So far, many researchers have reported about shape control and fabrication of AAO films. However, they have reported on the shape control with different diameter and length of anodic aluminum oxide mainly. We present a combined mild-hard (or hard-mild) anodization to prepare shape-controlled AAO films. Two main parameters which are combination mild-hard (or hard-mild) anodization and run-time of voltage control are applied in this work. The voltages of mild and hard anodization are respectively 40 and 80 V. Anodization was conducted on the aluminum sheet in 0.3 mole oxalic acid at $4^{\circ}C$. AAO films with morphologies of varying interpore distance, branch-shaped pore, diameter-modulated pore and long funnel-shaped pore were fabricated. Those shapes will be able to apply to fabricate novel nano-materials with potential application which is especially a support to prevent volume expansion of inserted active materials, such as metal silicon or tin powder, in lithium ion battery. The silicon powder electrode using an AAO as a support shows outstanding cycle performance as 1003 mAh/g up to 200 cycles.

  • Vapor-phase ETBE(ethyl tert-butyl ether) synthesis from TBA(tert-butyl alcohol) and ethanol was carried over solid acid catalysts such as heteropoly acids and proton type zeolites. Heteropoly acids were more active than proton type zeolites and $H_4SiW_{12}O_{40}$ catalyst showed about the same activity as Amberlyst-15 ion exchange resin catalyst used as an industrial catalyst in ETBE synthesis. The catalytic activity of transition metal exchanged heteropoly acids was greatly enhanced, because new acid site was generated with hydrogen reduction. This effect of hydrogen reduction was related to the reduction characteristics of catalysts and the order of reducibility was $Ag^+$>$Cu^{2+}$>$Fe^{2+}$.

The Effect of Pinus Densiflora Gnarl Extract for Pharmacopuncture on Human LDL Oxidation Induced by Free Radical and Metal Ion (송절(松節) 약침액이 자유기와 금속 이온으로 유도된 인체 저밀도 지단백질의 산화 반응에 미치는 효과)

  • 목적 : 이 연구는 관절 및 심혈관계 질환 치료에 사용되는 송절(松節)(Pinus densiflora Gnarl)을 약침용 시료로 조제하여 본 약물의 항산화 효능을 규명하고자 하였으며 이를 다양한 시스템에서 검토하였다. 방법 : $FeCl_2$-ascorbic acid system에서 흰쥐 간조직의 지질과산화 반응을 관찰하였고, Fenton reaction system에서 자유기에 의한 plasmid DNA 분절을 유도하였다. 또한 deoxyribose assay를 통해 hydroxyl radical 소거능을 관찰하였고, NBT reduction assay로 superoxide radical 소거능을 검토하였다. 또한 human low-density lipoprotein(LDL)의 산화를 유도하기 위해 $CuSO_4$와 AAPH를 사용하였으며 relative electrophoretic mobility (REM) assay로 LDL 산화 억제 효능을 대조 항산화물질과 비교 검토하였다. 결과 : 송절 약침액은 자유기에 의한 간조직의 지질과산화(p < 0.01)및 DNA 분절을 현저하게 억제하였으며, hydroxyl radical, superoxide radical (p < 0.01), nitric oxide 및 peroxynitrite를 강하게 소거하였다. 또한 $CuSO_4$ ($IC_{50}=9.2{\pm}0.2\;{\mu}g/ml$)와 AAPH ($IC_{50}=34.8{\pm}5.1\;{\mu}g/ml$)에 의해 유도된 human LDL의 산화를 억제하였고, REM assay에서도 산화 억제 효능을 재확인할 수 있었다. 결론 : 송절 약침액은 활성산소종 및 활성질소종를 소거하였고, 지질과산화를 억제하였으며, 특히 human LDL의 산화적 손상을 방어하였다. 이에 본 약물은 자유기에 의한 심혈관의 산화적 손상을 효과적으로 보호할 것으로 판단된다.

Characterization of Recombinant PolyG-Specific Lyase from a Marine Bacterium, Streptomyces sp. M3 (해양세균 Streptomyces sp. M3로 부터 얻은 재조합 polyG-specific lyase의 특성)

  • A new alginate lyase gene of marine bacterium Streptomyces sp. M3 had been previously cloned in pColdI vector and transformed into E. coli BL21 (DE3). In this study, M3 lyase protein without signal peptide was overexpressed by induction with IPTG and purified with Ni-Sepharose affinity chromatography. The absorbance at 235 nm of the reaction mixture and TLC analysis showed that M3 alginate lyase was a polyG-specific lyase. When M3 lyase was assayed with substrate for 10 min, optimum pH and optimum temperature were pH 9 and $60^{\circ}C$. For the effect of 1mM metal ion on M3 lyase activity, $Ca^{++}$ and $Mn^{++}$ ions increased the alginate degrading activity by two-fold, whereas $Hg^{++}$ and $Zn^{++}$ ions inhibited the lyase activity completely. $Mg^{++}$, $Co^{++}$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, and $Ba^{++}$ did not show any strong effects on alginate lyase activity.

  • The electrophilic and nucleophilic reactions of M(S-S,ph)(N-N,H) (M = Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II); (S-S,ph) = 1,2-diphenylethylenedithiolate; (N-N,H)=1,10-phenanthroline) complexes have been investigated. Reaction with norbornadiene depended upon the back donating ability of the central metal ion and produced 2,5-dithia-3,4-diphenyl-tricyclo[4,4,1,0]-undeca-3,8-diene. In the reaction with methyl iodide, the effect of cleavage of (N-N,H) ligand affected the yield of methylated $M(S-S,ph)_2$ product. The structure of the thermolysis product, ${\alpha},{\alpha}{\prime}$-bismethylthiostibene $(CH_3S-SCH_3,ph)$ of methylated complexes indicates that the main product of the nucleophilic reaction is $M(CH_3S-SCH_3,ph)(S-S,ph)$. We have synthesized a new mixed-ligand complex M(S-S,CN)(N-N,H)((S-S,CN) = 1,2-dicyanoethylenedithiolate) through the nucleophilic reaction of ligand.

Biochemical Properties of Eggplant Fruit Lectin. (가지 열매 lectin의 생화학적 성질)

  • Biochemical characterization including hemagglutination of erythrocytes, molecular weight, optimum temperature, thermal stability, optimum pH, carbohydrate specificity, and inhibitory effect of metal ion were studied in lectin of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) fruit prepared by ammonium sulfate fractionation and affinity chromatography. This lectin was agglutinated by trypsin-treated rat blood erythrocyte. The molecular weight of this lectin by SDS-PAGE was estimated to be approximately 19.3 kDa of a single band. This lectin has no activity by 7 carbohydrates containing D-glucose. The optimum range of temperature and pH were $10-20^{\circ}C$ and pH 6.2-7.2, respectively. This lectin was relatively stable at $20-70^{\circ}C$. And the activity of this lectin was not inhibited by $Ca^{2+},\;Co^{2+},\;Cu^{2+},\;Fe^{2+},\;Mg^{2+}$, and $Mn^{2+}$.
