Photo Image Retrieval using Geo-location Information (지리적 위치 정보를 이용한 사진 영상 검색)

  • Image retrieval is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing research issues in the field of multimedia technology. This paper proposes a new method that performs search the relevant images by using query-by-example. The proposed method for search and retrieval of images utilizes the location information where the image had been taken. The system associates the photo images with their corresponding GPS coordinates that are used as metadata for searching. Experimental results show that the proposed method demonstrates better performance improving up to 59% of average recall and 49% of average precision. Moreover, we learned from the experimental results geo-location information embedded within the image header is more effective and positive on the search and storage.

  • 방대한 웹 페이지의 홍수 속에서, 의미상 서로 연관되었지만 산재되어 있는 정보들을 사용자에게 효과적으로 제공하기란 그리 쉽지 않다. 웹 페이지에서 질적으로 향상된 정보를 얻기 위해서는, 이질적이지만 서로 연관된 의미를 갖는 데이터들을 하나로 융합하는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이질적인 형태로 이루어진 다수의 웹 페이지들을 XML 기반의 메타데이터(metadata)로 융합하여 사용자에게 제공하는 방법을 제시한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템에서 메타데이터는 온톨로지와 OWL을 이용하여 융합된다. 또한 제시한 방법을 검증하기 위해 지역정보 중 부동산을 사례를 들어 시스템을 구현한다. 구현된 시스템은 각기 다른 데이터를 가지고 있는 다수의 웹 페이지를 하나의 웹 페이지로 통합하는 과정을 거쳐 XML 문서 형태로 사용자에게 제공한다.

  • This article takes a look at current developments of science organization and the distribution of scientific information in Germany. In the information age, libraries and information centres become centres of knowledge management for the science community, as well as for the industry and for the public. Suitable solutions for a fair trade of information are necessary. Information professionals set up digital libraries and new metadata systems. The government's updated science policy and public-initiatives accelerate the development.

  • 메타 데이터와 데이터의 처리 경로를 독립시킨 분산 파일 시스템 구조는 입출력 성능향상 및 확장성 용이라는 측면에서 현재 주도적인 아키텍처로 사용되고 있다. 이러한 환경에서 클라이언트 및 데이터 서버의 수가 계속 확장되어 전체 시스템 규모가 페타(peta) 바이트급 이상 처리가 가능한 대규모로 진화될 경우 필연적으로 메타 데이터 서버에 병목 현상이 발생하게 된다. 본 고에서는 이러한 문제를 처리하기 위한 아키텍처로서 메타 데이터 서버들의 클러스터링을 고려하며, 이를 위해 제안된 다양한 기술들의 동작 원리 및 장단점 등을 분석하고 고찰해 보기로 한다.

Development of a Quality Evaluation Standard for Educational Serious Games

  • Given the lack of suitable quality evaluation standards for educational serious games (designed for both entertainment and instruction), we designed a development framework for evaluation standards of educational serious games and proceeded to develop standards in accordance with our proposed procedure. Our standards were designed to evaluate the quality of both technical and non-technical elements of educational serious game software products. We conducted a survey on the need for individual elements of the standard. Participants rated the need for each element on a five-point Likert scale. We then performed a reliability analysis of the survey results. Based on the survey results, we established a final standard for quality evaluation composed of 9 main elements and 31 sub-elements. The results of our research will contribute useful information to users as well as to the developers of educational serious games.

  • High unemployment rates repeatedly cause recurring social problems such as fewer employment opportunities and employment insecurity. Following this trend, various programs related to employment have been provided through various government and institutions. However, they have established overlapping policies and programs and there is no one stop gateway to find effective and efficient way to find relevant information. For this purpose, this study aims to provide employment and job search subject gateway development. The study has carried out case studies, literature reviews, and user survey. Based on this study, it suggested a linked metadata model to organize and link scattered information together, and a digital gateway operating diverse information services. It is expected to provide a basis to develop comprehensive information service model for employment.

Understanding Brand Image from Consumer-generated Hashtags

  • Social media has emerged as a major hub of engagement between brands and consumers in recent years, and allows user-generated content to serve as a powerful means of encouraging communication between the sides. However, it is challenging to negotiate user-generated content owing to its lack of structure and the enormous amount generated. This study focuses on the hashtag, a metadata tag that reflects customers' brand perception through social media platforms. Online users share their knowledge and impressions using a wide variety of hashtags. We examine hashtags that co-occur with particular branded hashtags on the social media platform, Instagram, to derive insights about brand perception. We apply text mining technology and network analysis to identify the perceptions of brand images among consumers on the site, where this helps distinguish among the diverse personalities of the brands. This study contributes to highlighting the value of hashtags in constructing brand personality in the context of online marketing.

A Generation and Accuracy Evaluation of Common Metadata Prediction Model Using Public Bicycle Data and Imputation Method

  • Today, air pollution is becoming a severe issue worldwide and various policies are being implemented to solve environmental pollution. In major cities, public bicycles are installed and operated to reduce pollution and solve transportation problems, and operational information is collected in real time. However, research using public bicycle operation information data has not been processed. This study uses the daily weather data of Korea Meteorological Agency and real-time air pollution data of Korea Environment Corporation to predict the amount of daily rental bicycles. Cross- validation, principal component analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to determine the independent variables of the predictive model. Then, the study selected the elements that satisfy the significance level, constructed a model, predicted the amount of daily rental bicycles, and measured the accuracy.

A Study on the Processing of Timestamps in the Creation of Multimedia Files on Mobile Devices

  • Digital data can be manipulated easily, so information related to the timestamp is important in establishing the reliability of the data. The time values for a certain file can be extracted following the analysis of the filesystem metadata or file internals, and the information can be utilized to organize a timeline for a digital investigation. Suppose the reversal of a timestamp is found on a mobile device during this process. In this case, a more detailed analysis is required due to the possibility of anti-forensic activity, but little previous research has investigated the handling and possible manipulation of timestamps on mobile devices. Therefore, in this study, we determine how time values for multimedia files are handled according to the operating system or filesystem on mobile devices. We also discuss five types of timestamps-file created (C), last modified (M), last accessed (A), digitalized (Di), and filename (FN) of multimedia files, and experimented with their operational features across multiple devices such as smartphones and cameras.

  • SOiVA는 양방향 동영상 서비스를 위한 TTA 정보통신 표준이다. SOiVA 서비스는 다양한 정보를 표현하기 위해 메타데이터를 이용하는데, 이 메타데이터에는 그 중요성 때문에 반드시 제 3자로부터 보호되어야 하는 내용이 포함되어 있다. 이 중 일부가 외부에 노출되거나 유실 조작될 경우 큰 문제를 야기할 수 있으므로 반드시 적합한 보안 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 전자서명과 암호화 등의 기술을 이용해 SOiVA 메타데이터 보안 시스템을 설계하고, 타당성을 검증하기 위해 시스템을 구현하고 예제메타데이터에 대하여 시험하였다.
