  • A need for sharing the R&D information at a national level regardless of the ministry in charge of it is being aroused. However, this information is being managed by different institutes under different ministries without a standard identifier which makes it difficult to manage the information such as to look up duplicate projects. A URN-based identifier is required for the integrated management and utilization of the national R&D information. In this paper, the concept of the identification metadata for applying the identification system and the status of the information management by each institute will be the subject for discussion. Based on this, the elements required for issuing a unique identification number and identifier to the national R&D projects will be suggested in this paper.

  • There are many kinds of applications or software components to manage files in a local computer, but it is very difficult to organize personal documents in a consistent way and to search expected ones in a precise way. In this paper, we present our development of a document management and retrieval tool, which is named Ontalk. Our system provides a semi-automatic metadata generator and an ontology-based search engine for electronic documents. Ontalk can create and import various ontologies in RDFS or OWL for describing the metadata. Our system that is built upon.NET technology is easily communicated with or flexibly plugged into many different programs.

  • e-Transformation of an enterprise requires the collaboration of business processes to be suited to the business participants' purpose. To realize this collaboration, business processes should be implemented as components and the system developers could be able to reuse the components for their specific purpose. The first step of this collaboration is the discovery of exact components for business processes. A dilemma, however, is the fact that there are thousands or even millions of business processes which vary from one enterprise to another. Moreover, business processes could be decomposed into multiple levels of semantics and classified into several process areas. In general, discovery of exact business processes requires understanding of widely adopted classification schemes such as CBPC, OAGIS, or SCOR. To cope with this obstacle, business process metadata should be defined and managed regardless of specific classification schemes to support effective discovery and reuse of business processes components. In this paper, a methodology to discover business process components published in different semantic levels is proposed. The proposed methodology represents the metadata of business process components as topic maps stored in a registry and utilizes the powerful features of topic maps for process discovery. TM4J, an open-source topic map engine, is modified to support concept matching and navigation. With the implemented tool, application system developers can discover and publish the business process components effectively.

  • In smartphone sensing which monitors various social phenomena of the individuals by using embedded sensors, managing metadata is one of the important issue to process large-scale data, improve the data quality, and share collected data. In this paper, we proposed a document clustering scheme for the large-scale metadata management architecture which is designed as a hybrid back-end consisting of a cluster head and member nodes to reduce the server-side overhead. we also verified that the proposed scheme is more efficient than the distance based clustering scheme in terms of the server-side overhead through simulation results.

본 논문에서는 빅 데이터를 저장하기 위한 DSV(Desktop Storage Virtualization) 환경에서 서버 장애를 효율적으로 대응하는 M2S2(Metadata Management for Server Sustainability)를 제안한다.

  • Festival records are valuable social records, not only historically but also culturally. Even though festival records are worthy of preservation, many of them are not managed appropriately. In particular, photographs taken by the public are dispersed in various SNS services such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This study collected festival photographs, taken by the public, from these SNS services and built a participatory archive for Daegu. As such, this study identified and suggested a metadata set through the process of archiving festival photographs. In addition, this study proposed a model of the participatory archive for festival photographs. This model illustrated the institute's collection of festival photographs in the SNS services and the creation of the participatory archive.

  • In the Urban Regeneration Project, the scale becomes huge and the composition of participating organizations is complex. It is necessary to establish the master plan fast and effectively harmonize conflict options and interests in the early stage of the project. However, the master planner, who is tasked to establish the master plan, and the master planning team, are difficult to establish the master plan fast while effectively considering various and complex information related to regeneration. The Urban Regeneration Project is composed of various types of computer files like HWP, EXL, PDF, DWG and others. When the master plan is established, it is necessary to link the information items and physical files of urban generation in order to effectively save the files in storage for easy search and utilization. This study developed a prototype system to support participating subjects of the Urban Regeneration Projects. It will effectively utilize the information items in the physical computer files using information blocks and Metadata. The developed system provides the base to effectively manage large amount of documents in the early stage of the Urban Regeneration Project and make effective decision-making using the concept of data warehouse.
