This study aimed at developing preservation metadata elements and its applications for research information which is considered as a valuable digital resource these days. Specifically, the developed preservation metadata intends to provide a basis for the research information of the government-funded research institutes in economic and social science fields which are major knowledge producers of national policy. To ensure the interoperability of the research information across various departments and organizations, this study compared the elements from the CERIF(European Standard) and those from the PREMIS Data Dictionary which is based on OAIS reference model (ISO 14721). Based on this comparative analysis, this study developed complementary preservation metadata elements based on the two standards' characteristics. Consequently, this study suggested a new preservation metadata elements and its applications that are compatible between the two systems and can be implemented in practice.

Electronic record types are becoming diverse, and "composite electronic records," which are made up of various types of electronic records associated with functionality or user interaction that does not exist in current electronic document formats, are increasing. To ensure a continuous access to composite electronic records, metadata construction is a prerequisite for electronic records archiving. In this paper, we propose a metadata that can support archiving of composite electronic records associated with interactive functionality. The common elements were derived from an analysis of both domestic and international file format registry projects, and metadata elements related to functional requirements were identified from the analysis of the records on nursing education e-learning contents. We proposed the metadata elements for archiving composite electronic records, which consist of 25 high-level elements and 138 subelements.

This study aims to design folk song metadata based on the OAIS reference model for the folk songs' preservation and permanent use. Thus, the folk songs' general characteristics were investigated by researching literature and related technical standards. The type of records, the methods and standards for long-term storage of records, OAIS reference models, and each package's metadata elements were identified through opinions from the popular songs' creators and researchers. The results awere that first, folk songs were created for social transformation, serving as a cultural heritage different from popular songs given their noncommercial quality. Second, the types of folk song records were identified, and the long-term preservation system suitable for the types of records was based on the OAIS reference model. Third, the metadata were edited, and the OIS reference model was applied such that respect was given to the folk songs' characteristics, context, and original order. Fourth and last, information package metadata elements matching the folk songs' records were derived and applied to the representative Korean folk song, "The March for Being."
This study is to develope the structures and the elements of the metadata for harvesting, management and preservation of a valuable web resources in the web archiving. For this study, we investigated the available metadata in the web archiving and surveyed the requirements of web archiving process. And we analyzed the characteristics of web resources. Also, this study was used a based on the ISO 14721 OAIS Reference Model. Finally, to share the metadata elements among the web archiving system, this study considered the interoperability for the exchange of the metadata. Based on the result, this study designed four structures of the metadata and defined the 28 core metadata elements for the web archiving.
In geo-spatial information system building and operation, metadata is one of the crucial factors. Therefore, international and domestic organizations or associations for standardization have developed and distributed geo-based standard metadata to meet public demands. However, because metadata is composed of complicated elements and needs XML storage and management, individual organization which implement and operate practical application system is inclined to define and use its own metadata specifications. In this study, metadata extraction program, that metadata elements are directly extracted from geo-based file formats was developed to easily utilize standard metadata such as ISO/TC 19115, TTAS.KO-10.0139 and TTAS.IS-19115, and those elements are processed into XML. Furthermore, geo-based images sets are applied to another metadata of ISO/TC 19115-2. As well, metadata transformation is needed due to inconsistent or non-corresponding definition among standard metadata; in this program, transformation modules are also implemented to interoperable uses between standard metadata specifications. Widely used data formats are dealt with in this program, but extension for other formats and other metadata specifications is possible, and it is expected that availability of standard metadata is increased, through this kind of development.

The art museums in South Korea are mostly small-scaled institutions with small amount of art works. Thus, internationally accepted metadata standards such as CDWA and VRA Core may not be efficient to manage their collections. Because of these distinct local characteristics, there is a need to create a set of metadata elements that can be used for the art museum community in the country. This research aims to propose a set of metadata elements customized to fit into the context of small-scaled art museums in South Korea. The construction of the element set was not from scratch but on the basis of existing standards such as CDWA, VRA Core, and Dublin Core. By identifying core elements that are indispensable in describing art works and collecting opinions of experts in art museums, the proposed set of metadata elements is expected to support the operation and management of art works and satisfy the localized needs of the art museum community.
The Metadata are used for the reuse of core information, distribution and management, protection of copyright and prevention of overlapping investment. Serious game consists of multi-hierarchial multimedia data. And quality information is very important for selection according to the purpose of the game. In this paper, we designed the serious game metadata schema, including multi-media characteristic information and measurable quality information. This study will lay the groundwork for the development of metadata system which can provide serious game users with reliability through quality information, and with compatibility through multi-media characteristic information. Furthermore, we hope this study will be helpful to stable growth in serious game industry.

In this study, description elements of National Archives of Korea(NAK) and National Assembly Archives(NAA) were collected and analysed based on PDI(Preservation Description Information) of OAIS Reference Model(ISO 14721). As for NAK, records management guideline published in 2009 and metadata standards published in 2007 were analysed. As for NAA, Records management manual published in 2009 and metadata applied in national assembly records management system were analysed with group interviews. As a result, improved metadata details and sub-elements were suggested based on OAIS PDI concepts and Calanag's and Russell's research.
