  • This paper describes an interconnection network structure which transports information among processors through a high speed ATM switch. To efficiently use the high speed ATM switch for the message-based multiprocessor, we implemented the cell router that performs multiplexing and demultiplexing of cells from/to processors. In this system, we use the expanded internal cell format including 3bytes for switch routing information. This interconnection network has 3 stage routing strategies: ATM switch routing using switch routing information, cell router routing using a virtual path identifier (VPI) and cell reassembly routing using a virtual channel indentifier (VCI). The interconnection network consists of the NxN folded switch and N cell routers with the M processor interface. Therefore, the maximum number of NxM processors can be interconnected for message communication. This interconnection network using the ATM switch makes a significant improvement in terms of message passing latency and scalability. Additionally, we evaluated the transmission overhead in this interconnection network using ATM switch.

  • The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is currently an important approach to improve personal safety and driving comfort. ANEL is a MAC-based authentication scheme that offers all the advantages of MAC-based authentication schemes and overcomes all their limitations at the same time. In addition, the given scheme, ANEL, can achieve the security objectives such as authentication, privacy preservation, non-repudiation, etc. In addition, our scheme provides effective bio-password login, system key update, bio-password update, and other security services. Additionally, in the proposed scheme, the Trusted Authority (TA) can disclose the source driver and vehicle of each malicious message. The heavy traffic congestion increases the number of messages transmitted, some of which need to be secretly transmitted between vehicles. Therefore, ANEL requires lightweight mechanisms to overcome security challenges. To ensure security in our ANEL scheme we can use cryptographic techniques such as elliptic curve technique, session key technique, shared key technique and message authentication code technique. This article proposes a new efficient and light authentication scheme (ANEL) which consists in the protection of texts transmitted between vehicles in order not to allow a third party to know the context of the information. A detail of the mapping from text passing to elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) to the inverse mapping operation is covered in detail. Finally, an example of application of the proposed steps with an illustration

  • This paper gives an asynchronously adaptive message passing scheme for selective retransmission of dropped packets based on a different fragment in size according to both the type of cause that makes packet loss and variation of traffic load in vehicle wireless communication networks. With the proposed scheme, it is possible to enhance the correctness for under-standing awareness of current network situation and to reduce the number of control packets by increasing or decreasing the size of a fragment along with the changes in network traffic load.

  • The most expensive spatial operation in spatial databases is a spatial join which computes a combined table of which tuple consists of two tuples of the two tables satisfying a spatial predicate. Although the execution time of sequential processing of a spatial join has been so far considerably improved, the response time is not tolerable because of not meeting the requirements of interactive users. It is usually appropriate to use parallel processing to improve the performance of spatial join processing. However, as the number of processors increases, the efficiency of each processor decreases rapidly because of the disk bottleneck and the overhead of message passing. This paper proposes the method of task allocation to soften the disk bottleneck caused by accessing the shared disk at the same time, and to minimize message passing among processors. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method in terms of the number of disk accesses and message passing, we conduct experiments on the two kinds of parallel spatial join algorithms. The experimental tests on the MIMD parallel machine with shared disks show that the proposed semi-dynamic task allocation method outperforms the static and dynamic task allocation methods.

  • In this paper, on the assumption that MPI collective communication function is converted into a group of point-to-point communication functions in the transaction level, an algorithm that optimizes broadcast, scatter and gather function among MPI collective communication is proposed. The MPI hardware engine that operates the proposed algorithm was designed, and it was named the OCC-MPE (Optimized Collective Communication Message Passing Engine). The OCC-MPE operates point-to-point communication by using the standard send mode. The transmission order is arranged according to the algorithm that proposes the most frequently used broadcast, scatter and gather functions among the collective communications, so the whole communication time is reduced. To measure the performance of the proposed algorithm, the OCC-MPE with the Bus Functional Model (BFM) based on SystemC was designed. After evaluating the performance through the BFM based on SystemC, the proposed OCC-MPE is designed by using VerilogHDL. As a result of synthesizing with the TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$, the gate count of each OCC-MPE is approximately 1978.95 with four processing nodes. That occupies approximately 4.15% in the whole system, which means it takes up a relatively small amount. Improved performance is expected with relatively small amounts of area increase if the OCC-MPE operated by the proposed algorithm is added to the MPSoC (Multi-Processor System on a Chip).

  • In this paper, we propsoe a new method of th ecommunication system for cooperative behaviors and works in collective autonomous mobile robots. A communication function among the collective robots is essential to intelligent cooperative works. In genral, global communication is effective for small number of robots. However when the number of robot goes on increasing, this becomes difficult to be realized because of limited communication capacity and increasing amount of information to handle. And also the problems such as communciation interfeence and improper message transmission occur. So we propose local communication system based on infrared sensor to realize the cooperative behavior among robots as the solution of above problem. It is possible to prevent overflow of information and exchange of complex information by fusion sign board model which transmits the information to unspecified robots and message passing model which communicate a specific robot. And we formularize optimal communication range by analysis of information propagation mechanism from the proposed comunication system. At last we verify the effectiveness of the proposed communication system from example of cooperative works.

  • This paper deals with the design and development of a real-time integrated communication architecture for heterarchical SFCS(Shop Floor Control System). In autonomous agent-based heterarchical SFCS, each functional unit of parts and resources is equipped with an intelligent controller (agent) that acts as the representative of the entity. The controllers communicate and negotiate with other controllers on a real-time basis through message passing and bidding protocol to achieve mutual agreements for task sharing. ICPL(Integrated Communication Protocol and Language) is proposed for this purpose. ICPL is a language and a protocol for supporting communication among intelligent controllers. Based on the speech act theory, this paper proposes a semantic description for ICPL that associates the description of the cognitive states of controllers with the use of language primitives (message_type). Semantics for the basic set of ICPL messages is described. Eventually, an ICPL-based communication architecture can provide the implementation of the distributed and heterarchical SFCS, and makes the intelligent controller transparent to the negotiation problem.

  • In the Markov network which models disparity map with the Markov Random Fields(MRF), the belief propagation algorithm is operated by message passing between nodes corresponding to each pixel. The initial message value is converged by iterations of the algorithm and the algorithm requires many iterations to get converged messages. In this paper, we simplify the algorithm by regarding the objects in the disparity map as combinations of lines with same message valued nodes to reduce iterations of the algorithm.

  • In this paper, to maximize the performance of the scatter communication in multi-core and many-core processors, a technique that considers the communication situation of the processing node is applied to a multi-core processor composed of 32 processing nodes. Since the existing scatter algorithm cannot recognize the communication conditions of the processing nodes, communication is generally performed according to an initially set transmission order. In this case, scatter communication starts only after the communication currently being performed by all processing nodes inside the processor is finished. The scatter communication performance was improved by this technique, and it was confirmed that there was a performance improvement of up to 78.93% compared to the existing algorithm through BFM simulation.
