Pollution of chloride ion-reinforced concrete can trigger active corrosion processes that reduce the useful life of structures. Multifunctional materials used as a counter-electrode by electrochemical techniques have been used to rehabilitate contaminated concrete. Cement-based pastes added to carbonaceous material, fibers or dust, have been used as an anode in the non-destructive Electrochemical Chloride Extraction (ECE) technique. We studied the performance of the addition of Carbon Fiber (CF) in a cement-graphite powder base paste used as an anode in ECE of concretes contaminated with chlorides from the preparation of the mixture. The experimental parameters were: 2.3% of free chlorides, 21 days of ECE application, a Carbon Fiber Volume Fraction (CFVF) of 0.1, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9%, a lithium borate alkaline electrolyte, a current density of $4.0A/m^2$ and a cement/graphite ratio of 1.0 for the paste. The efficiency of the ECE in the traditional technique using metal mesh as an anode was 77.6% and for CFVF of 0.9% it was 90.4%, with a tendency to increase to higher percentages of the CFVF in the conductive cement-graphite paste, keeping the pH stable and achieving a homogeneous ECE in the mass of the concrete contaminated with chlorides.

The defects of the abdominal wall could be brought about either congenitally, for instances in such cases as omphalocele or gastroschisis, or by various acquired causes-trauma, excision of tumors, excision of burn scar, tissue necrosis caused by infection, hematoma after abdominal surgery, tissue necrosis after radiation therapy and so on. As for the techniques of the reconstruction of the abdominal wall defects, many authors have developed and reported diverse methods. To summarize, primary closure, skin graft, local skin flaps, various myocutaneous flaps, free flap, fascia graft, artificial mesh, tissue expansion, etc could be used in the reconstruction of the abdominal wall defects. The periumbilical perforator-based island skin flap has a many advantages such as no significant sacrifice of the rectus abdominis muscle, wide rotation arc, reliable blood flow of the perforator, short elevation time for flap, and for middle-aged, obese patients, the donor site may be the best from the cosmetic point of view. We used perforator-based island skin flap in 5 cases with reasonable result from March 1999 to May 2001. There were no significant complications and donor sites could be repaired primarily.
The fracture process zone in concrete is a region ahead of a traction-free crack, in which two
major mechanisms, microcracking and bridging, play important roles. The toughness due to
bridging is dominant compared to toughness induced by microcracking, so that the bridging is
dominani: mechanism governing the fracture process of concrete. Fracture mechanics does work
for concrete provided that the fracture process zone is being considered, so that the development
of model for the fracture process zone is most important to describe fracture phenomena in
concrete.
In this paper the bridging zone, which is a part of extended rnacrocrack with stresses
transmitted by aggregates in concrete, is modelled by a Dugdale-Barenblatt type model with linear
tension-softening curve. Two finite element techniques are shown for the analysis of progressive
cracking in concrete based on the discrete crack approach: one with crack element, the
other without crack element. The advantage of the technique with crack element is that it dees
not need to update the mesh topology to follow the progressive cracking. Numerical results by
the techniques are demonstrated.
Naringinase produced from Aspergillus nidulans was immobilized in acrylamide gel by the entrapping method and its characteristics were studied. Optimum acrylamide concentration was 10%, but N.N'-methylene bisacrylamide concentration had no influence on the final enzyme gel activity. The suitable amount of enzyme dissolved in the polymerization reaction mixture was 126 units/ml. Optimum pH of immobilized enzyme was 5.0 which was the same as that of free enzyme. However, immobilized enzyme showed a higher optumum reaction temperature, markedly increased pH and temperature stability. In a packed-column reactor, the observed reaction rate was increased proportionally to flow rate up to 5ml/min., but independent above 6ml/min.. Activation energy of the immobilized enzyme was 13.01 Kcal/mole, and the energy required for the thermal inactivation was 39.4 Kcal/mole. The apparent Km for 100 mesh gel was $7.23{\times}10^{-3}$ mole.

Fabrication and oxidants production of 3 or 4 components metal oxide electrode, which is known to be so effective to destruct non-biodegradable organics in wastewater, were studied. Five electrode materials (Ru as main component and Pt, Sn, Sb and Gd as minor components) were used for the 3 or 4 components electrode. The metal oxide electrode was prepared by coating the electrode material on the surface of the titanium mesh and then thermal oxidation at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1h. The removed RhB per 2 min and unit W of 3 components electrode was in the order: Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1:1 > Ru:Pt:Gd=5:5:1 > Ru:Sn=9:1 > Ru:Sn:Gd=9:1:1 > Ru:Sb:Gd=9:1:1. Although RhB decolorization of Ru:Sn:Sb:Gd electrode was the highest among the 4 components electrode, the RhB decolorization and oxidants formation of the Ru:Sn:Sb=9:1:1 electrode was higher than that of the 3 and 4 components electrode. Electrogenerated oxidants (free Cl and $ClO_2$) of chlorine type in 3 and 4 components electrode were higher than other oxidants such as $H_2O_2\;and\;O_3$. It was assumed that electrode with high RhB decolorization showed high oxidant generation and COD removal efficiency. OH radical which is electrogenerated by the direct electrolysis was not generated the entire 3 and 4 components electrode, therefore main mechanism of RhB degradation by metal oxide electrode based Ru was considered indirect electrolysis using electrogenerated oxidants.

In this paper, we propose a modified optimization algorithm for point cloud matching of multi-view RGB-D cameras. In general, in the computer vision field, it is very important to accurately estimate the position of the camera. The 3D model generation methods proposed in the previous research require a large number of cameras or expensive 3D cameras. Also, the methods of obtaining the external parameters of the camera through the 2D image have a large error. In this paper, we propose a matching technique for generating a 3D point cloud and mesh model that can provide omnidirectional free viewpoint using 8 low-cost RGB-D cameras. We propose a method that uses a depth map-based function optimization method with RGB images and obtains coordinate transformation parameters that can generate a high-quality 3D model without obtaining initial parameters.

In order to represent the surface characteristics in local meteorological model, soil type, vegetation index, surface roughness length, surface albedo and leaf area index should be prescribed on the surface process parameterization. In this study, the $1^{\circ}/1^{\circ}leaf$ area index, surface roughness length, and snow free surface albedo and fine mesh NDVI with seasonal variation derived from the satellite observation were applied to the land surface process parameterization. From comparison between with and without satellite data in the interactions between biosphere and atmosphere, land and atmosphere, the sensitivity of the simulated heat, energy and water vapor fluxes, ground temperature, wind, canopy water content, specific humidity, and precipitation fields were investigated.

Background : Orbital roof fractures are frequently associated with a high energy impact to the craniofacial region, and displaced orbital roof fractures can cause ophthalmic and neurologic complications and occasionally require open surgical intervention. The purpose of this article was to investigate the clinical features and treatment outcomes of orbital root fractures combined with neurologic injuries after early reconstruction. Methods : Between January 2006 and December 2008, 45 patients with orbital roof fractures were admitted; among them, 37 patients were treated conservatively and 8 patients underwent early surgical intervention for orbital roof fractures. The type of injuries that caused the fractures, patient characteristics, associated fractures, ocular and neurological injuries, patient management, and treatment outcomes were investigated. Results : The patients underwent frontal craniotomy and free bone fragment removal, their orbital roofs were reconstructed with titanium micromesh, and associated fractures were repaired. The mean follow up period was 11 months. There were no postoperative neurologic sequelae. Postoperative computed tomography scans showed anatomically reconstructed orbital roofs. Two of the five patients with traumatic optic neuropathy achieved full visual acuity recovery, one patient showed decreased visual acuity, and the other two patients completely lost their vision due to traumatic optic neuropathy. Preoperative ophthalmic symptoms, such as proptosis, diplopia, upper eyelid ptosis, and enophthalmos were corrected. Conclusions : Early recognition and treatment of orbital roof fractures can reduce intracranial and ocular complications. A coronal flap with frontal craniotomy and orbital roof reconstruction using titanium mesh provides a versatile method and provides good functional and cosmetic results.
