Method: The questionnaire is distributed to 300 patients at the six general hospitals in provincial city, Korea. For data analysis, SPSS/PC program is used. Result: The characteristics of consumer's demographics and hospitals using behavior that make difference in nursing and medical service satisfaction are education, the average number of the visiting(by month) and hospitals. Nursing service satisfaction correlated with medical service satisfaction(r=.677) and hospital revisiting intent(r=.570), and medical service satisfaction correlated with hospital revisiting intent(r=.680). Nursing service satisfaction explained medical service satisfaction(45.9%) and hospital revisiting intent(32.5%), and medical service satisfaction explained hospital revisiting intent(54%). Conclusion: It is concluded that education, the average number of the visiting(by month) and hospitals make difference in nursing and medical service satisfaction, and there are very close relationship among nursing service satisfaction and medical service satisfaction and hospital revisiting intent. Nursing service is a very important factor to improve medical service satisfaction and hospital revisiting intent.
These days, customer satisfaction and relationship quality are regarded as important mediating factor in successful hospital management. Generally, service quality affects relationship quality, customer satisfaction and reuse intent in diverse service industries, and most of researchers agree to this conclusion. This study is designed to explore medical service quality in Oriental Medical Hospital and causal relationship among medical service quality, customer satisfaction, relationship quality and reuse intention. Through conclusion of this study, we could find that Oriental medical service quality factors are composed of medical staff, subsidiary facilities, medical facilities and administration service, and they affected relationship quality and reuse intent directly and indirectly through customer satisfaction. Moreover we found that customer satisfaction and relationship quality were playing an important role as connecting bridge between service quality and reuse intent.
This study aims to investigate the determinants of service quality and the relationships of service quality, customer satisfaction, word of mouth and subsequent purchase intention of medical service. SERVQUAL, an instrument developed by the marketing area, is offered as a possible measure of medical service quality. SERVQUAL measures service dimension of tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. The questionnaire method is used in this study. A survey is conducted on patients who are randomly selected. The questionnaire are sent to 300 patients and 208 are available. The objectives of this study were: 1) to find out the influence of determinants of service quality on medical service. 2) to investigate the relationship of medical service quality and customer satisfaction. 3) to analyze the relationship of customer satisfaction and favorable word of mouth, ubsequent purchase intention 4) to find out the gap perceived service quality between secondary and tertiary hospital. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1) Reliability, responsiveness and assurance have a positive impact on the medical service quality. 2) Medical service quality has a positive impact on the customer satisfaction. 3) Customer satisfaction has a positive impact on the favorable word of mouth and subsequent purchase intention. 4) There is no gap between secondary and tertiary hospital of perceived service quality.

Purpose: This study was done to examine the influence of nursing service quality and medical service satisfaction on intent to revisit the hospital, and to identify mediating effects of medical service satisfaction between nursing service quality and intent to revisit the hospital. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey. Participants were 390 hospitalized patients at one general hospital in Gyeonggi Province. Data were collected from July 21 to September 10, 2010 and analyzed using SPSS/PC version 18.0. Results: The score for nursing service quality continuously improved but the scores for medical service satisfaction and intent to revisit the hospital did not changed significantly after estimated. Factors influencing intent to revisit the hospital were nursing service quality, medical service satisfaction, 'same religion', and 'Christian', and the explanation power of these four factors was 79.7%. Medical service satisfaction had a partial mediating effect between nursing service quality and intent to revisit the hospital. Conclusion: Findings indicate that nursing service quality is a very important factor to improve both medical service satisfaction and intent to revisit the hospital. Nursing managers should develop strategies to improve nursing service quality.
Background: The objective of this study was to explore patient family's evaluation of emergency department (ED) service satisfaction and to compare these with ED staff perception of patient family's evaluation. Methods: Based on two surveys of the National Emergency Medical Center: the 2008 National Survey for Recognition and Satisfaction towards Emergency Medical Services and the 2008 Opinion Survey of Emergency Medical Service Providers, satisfaction gaps among physicians, nurses, and patient family were evaluated by Kruskal-Wallis tests and Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney tests. Furthermore, the factors associated with satisfaction of emergency medical service were identified by ordinal logistic regression models. Results: There were statistically significant gaps among physicians, nurses, and patient family in overall satisfaction with ED visit, length of stay in ED, enough explanation, physicians/nurses kindness, and ED facilities. Age and income in the patient family model, the number of beds in hospital, job satisfaction and year of service in the physicians model, and the number of beds in hospital, job satisfaction and the number of patients per duty hour in the nurses model were statistically significant factors associated with evaluation/ perception of ED service satisfaction. Conclusion: Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of the quality of care and service delivery in the ED. To improve and understand satisfaction in ED service, a dyadic view of the evaluation of service quality and satisfaction-that is, from the perspectives of both the patient and the emergency medical service providers-should be concerned.

Recently many small and mid-sized hospitals are closing down or experiencing financial difficulties. As a result, in order to provide exceptional service that would increase their competitiveness, they implemented telemedicine service for the prescription of medicine necessary before a colonoscopy. This study is an analysis of how telemedicine service affects patient satisfaction. Through the focus group interview (FGI) of medical service providers, regarding telemedicine service and face-to-face service, it was appraised that telemedicine service was more effective than face-to-face service. Afterward, a second survey aimed at endoscopy patients was conducted in order to find out the value of telemedicine service. First, through the analysis of the three main factors of telemedicine service, conclusions were drawn(safety/reliability, convenience/rapidity, and economics). A follow-up analysis showed that convenience/rapidity had the greatest effect on telemedicine service satisfaction. Next the factors of the quality of medical service were analyzed and 3 main factors were deduced (the superiority of the external and internal environments/appropriateness, superiority of the medical team, telemedicine service). A follow-up analysis found that telemedicine service had the greatest effect on patient satisfaction. This study found that providing exceptional medical service that utilizes telemedicine service would improve patient satisfaction. Therefore, we would be able to form a strategic plan that would strengthen the competitiveness of small and mid-sized hospitals.
Objectives : This study empirically verified the effects of service provided by medical service providers on customer satisfaction and favorable word-of-mouth intention. Moreover, it measured the mediation effects of customer satisfaction in the relationship between medical service quality factors and favorable word-of-mouth intention and proposed implications in terms of marketing. Methods : The research hypothesis was verified with a structural equation, and the Sobel test was used to analyze of customer satisfaction in the relationship between medical service quality factors and word-of-mouth intention. Results : From the hypothesis verification results, physical and human factors among the quality factors of medical service affected customer satisfaction.Additionally, customer satisfaction interacted as a factor influencing favorable word-of-mouth intention. Conclusions : Medical service providers should work to enhance the satisfaction of customers in terms of human and physical factors by providing quality medical service that is different from other providers and by improving the quality of medical service and the environment which could lead to effective word-of-mouth intention.
The purpose of this study was to determine factors influencing patient satisfaction with medical services in hospital, which is classified into environmental aspect, human services and procedural services. Based on the results of literature review, the study focused on effects of social-demographical factors on patient satisfaction. The environmental aspect of medical care services included medical equipment and facilities, hygiene, ventilation, heating and air-conditioning, waiting and resting space, ward space and parking facilities. Procedural service included registration process, bill payment, waiting time after registration, examination and prescription as well as appointment process. Human services consisted of physicians listening to stories of patients, examination duration, physicians' explanation and physicians' service. As for nurses, explanation about disease, examination procedure and results, kindness and nursing care were evaluated. Services provided by other staff members were also evaluated. Patient satisfaction, defined as individual attitude toward medical service as a whole, was measured using a questionnaire. A total of 700 in-or out-patients were surveyed in 6 hospitals with more than 300 beds in North Gyeongbuk Province. 1. The level of patient satisfaction varied with characteristics of patients. Male patients and those in their 30s had a low level of satisfaction. Dissatisfaction level was positively related to education level but negatively related to economic condition. 2. As for patient satisfaction with medical service providers and other employees in hospital, satisfaction level with physician's explanation about treatment was higher. But dissatisfaction levels with treatment duration and the lack of explanation about examination procedures were high, calling for improvement. Dissatisfaction level with nursing care was high, calling for training of nurses for better service. Given the low level of satisfaction with human services, hospital employees need to be trained to improve their service. 3. It Was found that administrative service was also a significant factor influencing patient satisfaction in addition to medical service. It is therefore important for hospitals to provide patients with prompt and convenient procedural service. 4. Environmental factors such as medical equipment and amenity facilities also affected patient satisfaction. Thus environmental condition, procedural service and human service are all important to improve medical service in hospital. In summary, procedural service was the most significant factor for patient satisfaction. The level of satisfaction in patients was also affected by human service and environmental condition. It is therefore necessary to take patient-oriented approach in providing medical service in an effort to improve patient satisfaction. The finding of a lower level of satisfaction with human service signifies the need for training of healthcare providers and other hospital employees for better services. The introduction of advanced management programs is also needed to improve procedures that patients go through in hospitals.
Objectives : To determine the relationships among quality, satisfaction, value and purchase intention in health care service. Methods : The data were gathered from out-patients who had used hospital services. They were asked to assess service quality, satisfaction, service value, and purchase intention. A total of 557 usable questionnaires were gathered. The data were analyzed using SAS version 6.12. The analysis methods employed in the study were confirmatory analysis and covariance structural analysis. Results : Service quality exhibited a significant and positive relationship with satisfaction, service value, and purchase intention. Furthermore, satisfaction had a significant and positive relationship with purchase intention. And finally, service value had a significant and positive relationship with both satisfaction and purchase intention. Based on these findings, it is evident that satisfaction was a mediator between service quality and purchase intention. Also service value played a mediating role between service quality and satisfaction. Conclusions : These results suggest that service quality is an antecedent of satisfaction and sonics value, and exerts a stronger influence on purchase intentions than satisfaction and service value do. Thus, managers may need to emphasize service quality in health care.
This study attempts to investigate how healthcare service quality impacts upon hospital reputation, service value, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the association of customer satisfaction with hospital loyalty and the mediation role of service value and reputation are examined. Analysis results can be summarized as followings: First, the procedural convenience and efficiency have significant impact upon customer satisfaction but personnel service and service scape do not significantly affect customer satisfaction. Second, the personnel service and service scape have significant impacts upon both the service value and hospitals' reputation. Third, service value and hospital reputation contribute significantly to the customer satisfaction. Fourth, customer satisfaction enhances significantly customer's satisfaction and intention to recommend. We conclude that a regional medical center should be able to offer high quality medical services to its customers to satisfy or delight them. Only the satisfied customers will have intention to revisit the medical center or to recommend it to their friends.
