  • Objective : UMLS is 'Ontology' which establishes the database for medical terminology by gathering various medical vocabularies representing same fundamental concepts. Method : Although Chinese character are represented in the Chinese part of Korean Unicode system in a computer, writing of Chinese characters is vary depending on Chinese input systems and Chinese writers' levels of knowledge. As the result of this, representation of Chinese writing in a computer will be considerably different from an old Chinese document. Therefore, a meaningful relationship between digital Chinese terminology and translated Korean is necessary in order to build Ontology for Chinese medical terms from Oriental medical prescription in a computer system. Result : This research will present 1:1 mapping information among the Chinese characters used in the Oriental medical prescription with analysis of 'same character different sound' and 'same meaning different shape' in Chinese part of Unicode systems. Conclusions : Furthermore, the research will provide top-down menu of relationship between Chinese term and Korean term in medical prescription with assumption of that the Oriental medical prescription has its own unique meaning.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish management and support system for traditional medical manuscripts using bibliographical, linguistic and traditional medical methods in order to protect disappearing and take advantage of traditional medicine. We'll translate selective traditional medical manuscripts into Korean and build a database and computerized database, which improve value of future diverse application and restore and give shape to traditional medical documents by providing methods for ontology of traditional medicine. We also arrange and analyze the old traditional medical books with diverse study system and evaluate medical usefullness. We intend to provide practical use of the prescription in based medicine as well as clinical medicine by reinterpretation from modem viewpoint.

  • This paper is proposed that ontology_based Oriental Medicine Customer Relationship Management system is designed with existing OCS, EMR, ERP system for oriental medicine center of efficient customer information management and analysis. As using ontology technique, we support oriental medicine service at grade according to quality and healthy of the customer. Also we designed 4 kind oriental medicine customer relationship management system frame - customer management, public relations/marketing, service management, statistics/analysis - in the customer management process standardization through a medical expert system.

  • Objectives : In order to select the key factors of formulae and to identify the relationship of formulae with comparing these factors. Methods : We selected the five key factors that the source, the name of formula, the efficacy, the constituent herbs, and the capacity of herbs. When we compared between two formulae with five key factors, there was 32 cases. So we investigated the example which is corresponded to each cases and analyzed the relationship of formulae. Results : Among the 32 cases, analyzed two formulae was same in 8 cases, altered from same formula in different ways in 14 cases, and different with each other in 20 cases. Conclusions : These five key factors play a decisive role to comparing formulae and analyzing the relationship of them. So these factors and the relationship of formulae would be considerated to construct formula ontology.

  • Nurses have performed their nursing practice according to the standard guidelines such as NANDA, NIC, and NOC, and recorded the information on nursing process into EMR system. In particular, NANDA, nursing diagnosis taxonomy, has difficulty expressing nursing diagnosis in detail because it represents abstract concepts of nursing diagnosis. So, the hospitals in KOREA have developed and used the list of nursing diagnosis on their own without referring the international standard terminologies, and it caused the delay of computerization of nursing records. Therefore, we proposed a ontology development methodology on nursing diagnosis based on NANDA and SNOMED-CT. The developed ontology, systematically developed with the frequently used nursing diagnosis terminologies in each hospital, based on the proposed methodology enables knowledge expansion and interoperable exchange of nursing records between EMR systems. We developed an ontology using the 112 nursing diagnosis terms defined by extracting and refining information on nursing diagnosis recorded in Kyungpook National University Hospital. We also confirmed the content validity and the usefulness of the developed ontology through expert assessment and experiment.

  • Objectives : To examine changes in Korean Medicine during Japanese occupation through major Joseoneo dictionaries. Methods : Based on the Keun Sajeon, published in 1957 by the Korean Language Society, the most recently published among the major dictionaries under Japanese occupation, key Korean Medical terminology in the Joseoneo Sajeon, published in 1920 by the governor-general of Joseon, and the Joseoneo Sajeon, published in 1938 by Mun Seyeong were analyzed. The differences among the dictionaries provided insight into the situation which Korean Medicine was in. Results : 1) There was a lack of consistency among Korean Medical terminology. 2) Changes in medical policies and legislation were reflected in the Korean Medical terminology without much delay. 3) Korean Medicine was distinguished as a separate category in the Keun Sajeon for the first time. 4) With the exception of Korean Medicine specific terminology, most were explained using 'modern' concepts and ontology. Conclusions : Modernization lead by the Japanese splintered many areas of Joseon society, and Korean Medicine was no exception. This transition period as reflected in the terminology within the Joseoneo dictionaries show that Korean Medicine went through a process of regulation by changes in medical policies and legislation, while new, modern studies brought in by the Japanese started replacing language and ontology of pre-occupation Joseon. A look into Korean Medicine during Japanese occupation through Joseoneo dictionaries allows us to examine the connection between Korean Medicine and the more broader historical context in which it was situated.

  • In order to acquire new information and biological meaning of the signal data by defining the relationships between them, new modeling technique, ontology, has been proposed. The data of bio-signal can be represented as a systematic and logical to manage continuously bio-signal data using ontology. Furthermore, knowledge of which resources are utilized to provide improved service quality in medical information, health services in various fields. However, relevant studies have not been performed actively to compare importance of relationships between bio-signals. Therefore semantic representation of biometric information should be by defining the relationship between bio-signals. In this paper, we have developed bio-signal ontology to use as a model for using domain knowledge. We verified the usefulness of the ontology by using scenarios.

  • In this paper proposes the latest network-assisted online telemedicine service to coincide with the point being discussed for health care providers to match patients, patients with personalized medical service support system. In order to design the system, to understand the requirements of the patient personalized medical support service system, the data were normalized and were designed architecture client server structure. Further, in order to implement the system that was designed to define the structure of server and client, ontology repository, we implement the system. In this paper, as a result of the test by creating a scenario and prerequisites for testing patient personalized medical service support system that is design and implementation, selecting a patient's condition, department of symptoms by the selected but it was confirmed that the inference is, inference medical institutions that fits department inferred one following upon the items medical patient has the required.

  • This paper has been forged to suggest 'Medical Information Searching System'. This system sets itself to conduct searching of medical information stored in a wide variety of medical institutions. This system aims to suggest a flexible, compatible and effective standard on medical information searching through this. So, In this paper, we present a framework to help medical institutions search the requiring medical information in conjunction with analysis on 'medical information request'.
