CMM을 이용한 3자유도 병렬기구 위치 오차의 정밀 평가 기법 (Precision Evaluation Method for the Positioning Error of Three-DOF Parallel Mechanism using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM))

  • This paper proposes precision evaluation method for the positioning error of three-DOF translational parallel mechanism. The proposed method uses conventional CMM as metrology equipment to measure the position of end-effector. In order to obtain accurate measurement data from CMM, the transform relationship between the coordinate system of the parallel mechanism and the CMM coordinate system must be identified. For this purpose, a new coordinate referencing (or coordinate system identification) technique is presented. By using this technique accurate coordinate transformation relationships are efficiently established. According to these coordinate transformation relationships, an equation to calculate error components at any arbitrary position of the end-effector is derived. In addition, mathematical fitting models to represent the position error components in the two-dimensional workspace of the parallel mechanism are also constructed based on response surface methodology. The proposed error evaluation method proves its effectiveness through the experimental results and its application to real three-DOF parallel mechanism.

  • In this paper, we designed the 6-wheeled mobile robot (6-WMR) with the passive linkage mechanism which enables 6-WMR to passively adapt to the given stairs. To overcome the limit of adaptability to the terrain of conventional WMR and improve the energy efficiency, we proposed the new WMR using the passive linkage mechanism. The passive linkage mechanism consists of the simple four-bar linkage mechanism which allows 6-WMR to climb stairs with adaptability and an additional link which is connected to the four-bar linkage mechanism by a pin-slot joint to enable 6-WMR to passively go up the stairs. 인대 구조에 기인한 유연 경첩 관절의 설계 (Design of Compliant Hinge Joints inspired by Ligamentous Structure)

  • This paper suggests novel types of joint mechanisms composed of elastic strings and rigid bodies. All of the human hinge joints have the articular capsule and a pair of collateral ligaments. These fibrous tissues make the joint compliant and stable. The proposed mechanism closely imitates the human hinge joint structure by using the concept of tensegrity. The resultant mechanism has several characteristics shown commonly from both the tensegrity structure and the human joint such as compliance, stability, lightweight, and non-contact between rigid bodies. In addition, the role and feature of the human hinge joints vary according to the origins of a pair of collateral ligaments. Likewise, the locations of two strings corresponding to a pair of collateral ligaments produce different function and motion of the proposed mechanism. It would be one of the advantages obtained from the proposed mechanism. How to make a joint mechanism with different features is also suggested in this paper.

  • In this paper, a fused illumination mechanism for detecting surface defects in steel plates was designed by applying the discriminant function that can differentiate the contrast of defects and non-defects. There is low contrast, non-uniformity, and no feature characteristics in steel plate surfaces. The fused illumination mechanism is devised, based on those characteristics. Optimum parameters of the fused illumination mechanism are determined by applying the discriminant function after acquiring the defect image in steel plate surfaces. The performance of the proposed mechanism is verified by experminets.

A Study on the Nylon Wire Holding and Release Mechanism for Cube Satellites by Applying Constant Holding

  • The non-explosive holding and release mechanism is used to prevent damage to the mission component caused by explosives when the deployment structure for Cube Satellites is separated. However, among the several types available, the non-explosive holding and release mechanism system using nylon wires depend on the nylon wire knot method and tightening power of the worker. Therefore, in this study, we conducted experiments with the operation of a new holding and release mechanism system by conceptualizing the Boa System Dial, which can provide a constant tightening force regardless of worker proficiency and deploying a imitational solar panel. In this study, the process of binding and unbinding with constant tension was recorded while applying the novel non-explosive holding and release mechanism using the Boa System Dial proposed. In addition, required advances are indicated for the application of the proposed system to actual Cube Satellites.

Variable camber morphing wing mechanism using deployable scissor structure: Design, analysis and manufacturing

  • In this paper, a novel morphing mechanism using a deployable scissor structure was proposed for a variable camber morphing wing. The mechanism was designed through the optimization process so that the rib can form the target airfoils with different cambers. Lastly, the morphing wing was manufactured and its performance was successfully evaluated. The mechanism of the morphing wing rib was realized by a set of deployable scissor structure that can form diverse curvatures. This characteristic of the structure allows the mechanism to vary the camber that refers to the airfoil's curvature. The mechanism is not restrictive in defining the target shapes, allowing various airfoils and overall morphing wing shape to be implemented.

  • Oxygen evolution reaction is a critical bottleneck for the development of efficient electrochemical hydrogen production because of its sluggish reaction. Among various catalysts, transition metal-based layered double hydroxide has drawn significant attention due to their excellent catalytic properties and cost-effectiveness. This paper begins with basic crystal structures, and then conventional adsorbate evolution mechanism of layered double hydroxide. Strategies for enhancing catalytic properties based on adsorbate evolution mechanism and lattice oxygen mechanism that could surpass theoretical limit of adsorbate evolution mechanism are discussed. This paper ends with a brief discussion on the challenges and future directions of layered double hydroxide-based oxygen evolution reaction catalysts.

  • Hard disk drive(HDD)는 보조 저장장치로서 대부분의 컴퓨터 시스템에서 사용되고 있으나 기계적 특성으로 인하여 성능의 향상 측면에서는 한계점에 도달해 있는 상황이다. 반면, 플래시 메모리 기반인 solid state drive(SSD)는 고성능 저소음이라는 장점이 있지만, HDD에 비해 높은 가격으로 인해 아직 HDD를 완전 대체하기에는 부담이 크다. 따라서 SSD를 대용량인 HDD의 cache로 사용하는 SSD caching mechanism이 최근 주목을 받고 있다. SSD caching mechanism은 대표적으로 bcache, dm-cache, Flashcache, EnhanceIO 등이 있으며, 각 mechanism들은 구현상의 장단점과 차별성이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 각 SSD caching mechanism들의 특정을 파악하고, 벤치마크를 통하여 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 연구를 기반으로 향후 더 성능이 좋은 SSD caching mechanism을 개발하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • Objectives : In relation to Qi and Humor, the paper makes a new suggestion of the Mechanism of Qi and Humor. The paper's objective is to establish a theoretical framework of the Mechanism of Qi and Humor with an aim of providing useful insights on understanding the symptoms of illness displayed by Taeumin.. Methods : A number of materials from Lee Je Ma's Dongyisusebowon, Dongyisusebowon sasangchobonkwon, and texts within Dongmuyoogo that deal in Qi and Humor will be reviewed. Results : Along with the Mechanism of Water and Food, the Mechanism of Qi and Humor is a comprehensive concept that sustains life activities. In more detail, the Mechanism of Qi and Humor can be considered as a mechanism that takes a more active role in controlling the elements that composes the body. Conclusions : Through a basic research on the Mechanism of Qi and Humor, the paper pondered the possibility of Taeumin's symptoms of illness. Based on this result, future theoretical studies on the Mechanism of Qi and Humor should lead to the research of Taeumin's symptoms of illness.

5절 평면형 메커니즘의 동적 포복에 관한 연구 (Study on Dynamic Crawling of The Five-bar Planar Mechanism)

  • In this paper, the dynamic crawling of a five-bar planar mechanism is investigated. One complete cycle of the crawling selected in this study consists of four different steps, i) sliding at one contact point between the mechanism and the ground, ii) changing its configuration without sliding at two contact points, iii) sliding at the other contact point, and iv) again changing its configuration without sliding at two contact points. In this type of crawling, the crawling mechanism maintains the shape of the parallel structure throughout a complete crawling cycle. The modeling algorithm for serial manipulators proposed by M. Thomas and et al.[1] is employed by introducing imaginary joints and links which represent the contact interfaces between the one end of the mechanism and the ground, while the other end of the mechanism is regarded as an end-effector of the imaginary serial manipulator which treats the reaction force and torque at the contact point as external forces. Then, a complete cycle of dynamic crawling of the mechanism is investigated through various computer simulations. The simulation result show that the stable crawling characteristics of the mechanism could be secured when the proper configurations depending on specified frictional constraints are met.
