The Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process (ACP), which is a pre-disposal treatment process for spent fuel is being developed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). The ACP equipment is operated in an intense radiation field as well as in a high temperature. Thus, the equipment is designed in consideration of the remote handling and maintenance. This paper describes a Bridge Transported Bilateral Force-Reflecting Servo-Manipulator (BTSM) system, which is being developed to overcome the limitation of access that is a drawback of the mechanical Master-Slave Manipulators (MSMs), which are mounted on the ACP hot cell wall for the operation and the maintenance of the ACP equipment. The BTSM system was manufactured and temporally installed at the mockup to test its performance. The manufactured BTSM system will be installed at the ACP hot cell on June 2005 after the accomplishment of the performance test. The BTSM system consists of four components: a transporter with a telescoping tubeset, a slave manipulator, a master manipulator, and a remote control system. This system will highly increase the volume of coverage for the operation and maintenance of the ACP equipment.
It can be acquired the high effective productivity through of high speed, precision of machine tools, and then, machine tools will be got a competitive power. Industrially advanced countries already developed that the high speed feed is 50m/min using the high speed ball screw. Also, a lot of problems have happened the feed and servo drive system. It is necessary to study about the character of positioning accuracy, heat generation and high speed/accuracy control for feed/servo drive system of high speed/accuracy. In this study, we make use of high performance vertical machine center with a ball screw of large-scale-lead. Also, we'll apply the high-speed/accuracy control technology in this part of feedforward control, multi-buffering block size, etc. Using the design of the mechanical element and high-speed precision control, the basic design concept can be established.
In this paper, an algorithm using two bi-quad filters to suppress the wide-band resonance for PMSM servo systems is proposed. This algorithm is based on the double bi-quad filters structure, so it is named, "double bi-quad filter." The conventional single bi-quad filter method cannot suppress unexpected mechanical terms, which may lead to oscillations on the load side. A double bi-quad filter structure, which can cancel the effects of compliant coupling and suppress wide-band resonance, is realized by inserting a virtual filter after the motor speed output. In practical implementation, the proposed control structure is composed of two bi-quad filters on both the forward and feedback paths of the speed control loop. Both of them collectively complete the wide-band resonance suppression, and the filter on the feedback path can solve the oscillation on the load side. Meanwhile, with this approach, in certain cases, the servo system can be more robust than with the single bi-quad filter method. A step by step design procedure is provided for the proposed algorithm. Finally, its advantages are verified by theoretical analysis and experimental results.
Conventional P/PI speed controller of today's servo drives should be manually tuned the controller switching set-point by trial-and-errors, which may translate the drive system down-time and loss of productivity. The adjustable drive performance is heavily dependent on the qualify of the expert knowledge and becomes inadequate in applications where the operating conditions change in a wide range, i.e., tracking command, cceleration/deceleration time, and load disturbances. In this paper, the demands on simple controls/setup are discussed for industry servo drives. Analyzing the frequency content of motor torque command, P/PI control mode switching is automatically peformed with some prior knowledge of the mechanical dynamics. The dynamic performance of the proposed scheme assures a desired tracking response curve with minimal oscillation and settling time over the whole operating conditions. For comprehensive comparison of traditional P/PI control scheme, extensive test is carried out on actual servo system.
A mechanical-hydraulic hitch control system has been adapted to most agricultural tractors. But it has various defects due to friction, inertia and hysteresis. Recently a number of electronic-hydraulic hitch control systems have been developed in several countries to improve control performance of the agricultural tractors equipped with a mechanical-hydraulic hitch control system. This study was conducted to develop a new electronic-hydraulic hitch control system using an electro-hydraulic servo valve instead of an on-off valve and to carry out computer simulation of the system. According to the result of computer simulation, the control system showed the best performance when the proportional constants were 9 and 4 for position and draft control respectively. The step and frequency responses were improved as flow rate increased.
This study suggests a new type shaft generating system driven by hydrostatic transmission suitable for small size vessels. In this system, the hydraulic motor speed is controlled by displacement adjustment using a 3-way high speed on/off valve. The 3-way high speed valve is operated by PWM control signal. In this study, a digital robust servo control algorithm is applied to the controller design of the system. By experiments and numerical computations, the frequency variation characteristics of the generating system under various disturbances are investigated. Conclusively, it is said that the shaft generating system proposed in this study shows excellent control performances.
Generally, the accuracy of motion control systems is strongly influenced by both the mechanical characteristics and servo characteristics of feed drive systems. In the fed drive systems of machine tools that consist of mechanical parts and electrical parts, a torsional vibration is often generated because of its elastic elements in torque transmission. Especially, a torsional vibration caused by the elasticity of mechanical elements might deteriorate the quick movement of system and lead to shorten the life time of the mechanical transmission elements. So it is necessary to analyze the electromechanical system mathematically to optimize the dynamic characteristics of the feed drive system. In this paper, based on the simplifies feed drive system model, radius errors due to position gain mismatch and servo response characteristic have been developed and an optimal criterion for tuning the gain of speed controller is discussed. The proportional and integral parameter gain of the feed drive controller are optimal design variables for the gain tuning of PI speed controller. Through the optimization problem formulation, both proportional and integral parameter are optimally tuned so as to compensate the radius errors by using the genetic algorithm. As a result, higher performance on circular profile tests has been achieved than the one with standard parameters.
Pressurization test is usually required in aircraft full-scale static test. There are several test conditions including pressurization of cockpit, fuselage fuel tank, air inlet duct for T-50 full-scale static test. In this paper, the test conditions, equipment, piping analysis for the pressurization test are introduced. Tank simulation test is performed to verify the validity of piping analysis and to find good tuning parameters for the pressurization channel in the servo controller. Several test setup for pressurization of T-50 test is introduced. Test article volume is filled by form, $60%{\sim}80%$ volume is reduced for the T-50 full-scale static test. Pressurization system is connected to servo controller which also controls hydraulic actuator. Load and pressure control is synchronized by using the same servo controller during T-50 test. Typical control result for pressurization test condition is shown. Pressurization tests of T-50 full-scale static test was completed successfully.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have been recently commercialized can largely be divided into fixed-wing aircraft and rotor aircraft by their styles and flight characteristics. Although the fixed-wing aircraft represents higher power efficiency, higher speed, longer flight distance and larger loading weight than the rotor aircraft, they have a disadvantage of requiring a space for take-off and landing. On the other hand, the rotor aircraft can implement vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and represents various flight modes (hovering, steep bank turns and low-speed flights). But they require both precision take-off control and attitude control. In this study, we used a quad-tilt rotor UAV to combine advantages in both the fixed-wing aircraft and the rotor aircraft. The quad-tilt rotor (QTR) system was designed and constructed by adding a tilt device with a servo motor to a general quad-rotor vehicle.
Accurate positioning of the throttle valve of a gasoline engine is required to implement various systems such as traction control system(TCS), cruise control system and drive-by-wire system. In this research, position control system has been developed for the throttle actuator system that uses one throttle actuation for small volume and DC servo motor for fast response. In order to drive the DC motor, PWM signal generator and PWM amplifier were built and interfaced to the motor and controller. Also, time delay control(TDC) law has been used as a basic control algorithm. A method of varying the reference model of the TDC according to the size of change in target throttle angle is proposed here. The simulation and experimental results show that both overshoot prevention and fast response are achieved by the TDC technique with this variable reference model.
