  • Orthodontists often treat cases which are difficult to treat with conventional orthodontics. In such cases, it could be treated with surgical procedures with the help of an oral surgeon. Especially, transverse deficiency of the mandible can be corrected by widening the transverse width of mandibular symphysis, using distraction osteogenesis. Transverse widening of mandibular sympysis is known as a safe treatment but still complications could occur during the treatment. We are reporting some complications of cases that mandibular symphysis transverse widening were applied. Some cases showed complications because of the inappropriate osteotomy line. Since straight vertical osteotomy line was inclined to the left, only the left bony segment was likely to expand. According to bio-mechanical considerations, it will be better to perform a step osteotomy, cutting the eccentric area of the alveolar crest and the centric area of the basal symphyseal area. Complications could also occur by the failure of the distraction device. The tooth borne distraction device was attached on the lingual side of the tooth with composite resin. During the distraction period, it was impossible to obtain appropriate distraction speed and rhythm because of frequent fall off of the distraction device. Therefore, distraction device should be attached firmly with orthodontic band or bone screw, etc. Tooth mobility increasement could also occur as a complication. 'Walking teeth phenomenon' was observed during the distraction period, showing severe teeth mobility and pain during mastication. These symptoms fade out during the consolidation period. Since the patient could feel insecure and uncomfortable, it should be notified to the patient before the procedure. Finally, alveolar crestal bone loss could occur. Alveolar crestal bone loss occurred because of lack of distraction device firmness and teeth trauma caused by lower lip biting habit. Therefore, adequate firmness of the distraction device and habit control will be needed.

배분력의 정량적인 분석을 통한 단결정실리콘의 나노패턴 연성가공법 연구 (Study on Ductile Machining Technology for Manufacturing Nano-Patterns on Single Crystal Silicon through Quantitative Analysis of Thrust Force)

  • Lithography techniques are generally used to manufacture nano-patterns on silicon, however, it is difficult to make a V-shaped pattern using these techniques. Although silicon is a brittle material, it can be treated as a ductile material if mechanically machined at extremely low force scale. The manufacturing technique of nano-patterns on single crystal silicon using a mechanical method was developed in this study. First, the linear pattern was machined on the silicon with increasing thrust force. Then, the correlation between measured cutting force and machined pattern was analyzed. Based on the analysis, the critical thrust force was quantitatively determined, and then the silicon was machined at a force lower than the critical thrust force. The machined pattern was observed using SEM and AFM to check for the occurrence of brittle fractures. Finally, the sharp V-shaped nano-pattern was manufactured on the single crystal silicon.

저탄소강에서 Planetary 볼밀링에 의한 나노결정 페라이트의 형성 (Formation of Nanocrystalline Ferrite by Planetary Ball Milling in a Low Carbon Steel)

  • Formation of nanocrystalline ferrite was investigated using milled powders obtained by planetary ball milling of chips, which were made by high speed mechanical cutting of a low carbon steel(0.15%C-1.1%Mn-0.01%Ti). After 4 hour milling the chips were changed to powders of $50{\mu}m$ in average size, and with increasing milling time the powders were refined to about $3{\mu}m$ for 128 hour and showed more equiaxed shapes. Nanocrystalline(nc) region appeared in the surfaces of powders milled for 1 hour, and the 4 hour milled powders were almost filled with nc region. Hardness of nc region was much higher than that of work-hardened(WH) region. With increasing milling time, ferrite and cementite in pearlite were severely deformed and lamellar spacing was decreased, and then cementites began to disappear after 4 hour milling due to dissolution into ferrite. Deformation bands formed in lightly work-hardened region showed large width and similar crystallographic orientations. Spacing of deformation bands was decreased with deformation and the layered microstructure consisting of narrow deformation bands subdivided into variously oriented small grains was formed by more deformation, and eventually this structure seemed to be evolved to the nc structure by further deformation. It is also conjectured the growth of nc ferrite grains occurred through the coalescence of nanocrystalline ferrites rather than the nucleation and growth of recrystallized grains.

  • TBM을 적용하기 어려운 터널과 다양한 조건의 광산에서 기계 굴착장비인 로드헤더의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 하지만 우리나라에서 로드헤더의 적용 실적은 거의 전무하며, 일부 국가에서만 로드헤더의 설계 제작기술을 보유하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 로드헤더의 최적 선정과 설계를 위한 로드헤더의 굴착 원리 및 핵심설계항목들을 분석하였다. 또한 전 세계 143개의 로드헤더 설계 정보들을 데이터베이스화하고 로드헤더의 설계에 활용하기 위한 통계적인 상관관계들을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 데이터베이스에 기반하여 로드헤더를 설계하기 위한 절차를 제시하였다.

유해가스 및 분진이 발생하는 작업장내의 자연환기에 대한 연구 (The Study on Natural Ventilation in Working Places with the Noxious Gas and Dust)

  • In recent, occupational diseases in harmful working places become a social issue. It is the well-known fact that a respiration in polluted working places exert a serious effect on health of workers. Accordingly, the cutting off contaminants air originally is the best way to improve working environments. In these cases, ventilation systems should be essentially installed to dilute or exhaust the contaminated indoor air. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of ventilation system of the noxious gas in working indoor places with natural ventilation by using COMET. The numerical simulations were carried out the natural ventilation with two phase(air, dust). For turbulent flow, Reynolds stresses were closed by the standard $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ model. The results are as follows ; 1) In the natural exhaust in the working place, the flows of the central region have a more rapid velocity vector than the right and left one. 2) Numerical results show that the distribution of contaminants concentration have greater influence on convection than the case of diffusion by government of velocity vectors. 3) To observe the velocity variation with distance, three location of distance are considered. As results, it shows that the velocity are 0.075(m/s) at y=5(m), 10(m) and mean concentration are raised 10.6% at y=5(m), 10(m). 4) We have presented the useful data for the adequate counterplan in the harmful working places by carrying out the various investigation of the natural ventilation.

Effects of Main Shaft Velocity on Turbidity and Quality of White Rice in a Rice Processing System

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze turbidity and quality characteristics of white rice as a function of main shaft blast velocity and to verify the optimum processing conditions in the cutting type white rice processing system (CTWRPS). Methods: Sindongjin, one of the rice varieties, which used to be produced in Gimje-si, Jeollabuk-do, in 2015, was used as the experimental material. Turbidity and quality characteristics of white rice were measured at three different main shaft blast velocities: 25, 30, and 35 m/s. The amount of test material used for a single experiment was 20 kg, and after processing, whiteness was found to be $42.5{\pm}0.5$, following which, turbidity and quality characteristics were measured. Results: Turbidity decreased with increase in the shaft blast velocity, and as a result, was lowest at 35 m/s of shaft blast velocity among all the other experiment velocities. The trend of cracked rice ratios was similar to the turbidity. Broken rice ratio turned out to be less than 2.0% in all the test conditions. In the first stage of processing, the processing pressure decreased as the main shaft blast velocity increased. Additionally, in the second stage of processing, the processing pressure was at its lowest value at the main shaft blast velocity of 35 m/s. Energy consumption, too, decreased as the main shaft blast velocity was increased. Conclusions: From the above results, it is concluded that the main shaft blast velocity of 35 m/s is best for reducing turbidity and producing high quality rice in a CTWRPS.

Ag-Cu-Zn-Cd 계 용가재를 이용한 Bronze 소결체/강의 브레이징 접합부 특성 평가 (Characteristics of Brazed Joint of Sintered Bronze/steel Using Ag-Cu-Zn Type Filler Materials)

  • The study was carried out to examine in more detail metallurgical and mechanical properties of brazed joints of diamond cutting wheel. In this work, shank(mild steel) and sintered bronze-base tips were brazed with three different filler materials(W-40, BAgl and BAg3S). The machine used in this work was a high frequency induction brazing equipment. The joint thickness, porosities and microstructure of brazed joints with brazing variables(brazing temperature, holding time) were evaluated with OLM, SEM, EDS and XRD. Bending(torque) test was also performed to evaluate strength of brazed joints. Further wetting test was performed in a vacuum furnace in order to evaluate the wettability of filler metals on base metals9shank and tips). The brazing temperature had a strong influence on the joint strength and the optimum brazing temperature range was about $700~850^{\circ}C$ for the bronze/steel combinations. The strength of the brazed joint was found to be influenced by the three factors : degree of reaction region, porosity content, joint thickness. The reaction region was formed in the bronze-base tip adjacent to the joint. The reaction region resulted in a bad influence on the strength due to the formation of Cu5.6Sn, CuZn4, $\beta(CuZn)$ and CdAg, etc. Porosities increased as brazing variables(brazing temperature, holding time) increased, and the brazed joints with porosities of less than about 3-5% had an optimum strength for the bronze-base tip.

  • 최근 절삭공구산업은 자동차, 항공기, IT, 선박, 에너지 등 첨단산업의 증가로 인해 CGI, CFRP, 내열합금 등 난삭재의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 난삭재는 고내열, 고경도, 초경량 같은 특성을 지니며 우수한 기계적 물성을 갖지만 가공의 어려움이 있어 산업에 적용하는데 한계가 있다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 개발된 가공기술 중 하드 코팅은 공구코팅비용 대비 공구의 표면경도와 수명을 효율적으로 향상시킬 수 있다고 알려져 있다. 대표적인 하드코팅으로는 AlN계, TiN계 코팅이 있다. 이러한 코팅의 경우 높은 기계적 물성과 우수한 내마모성으로 인해 절삭공구의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있기 때문에, 많은 연구가 진행되고 있으며 절삭공구산업에서 각광받고 있다. 기존 선행연구 결과에 따르면 질화물 코팅의 우수한 물성은 질화물(Nitride) 생성 및 질화 공정에 의한 코팅층의 고밀도화에 의해 나타난다고 알려져 있다. 그 중에서 AlCrN coating은 우수한 내마모성 및 향상된 고온경도를 갖고 있다. AlCrN based coating에 미량의 원소를 첨가하여 기존 AlCrN coating의 기계적 특성을 더욱 향상 시킨 coating은 일반적인 고성능 코팅 대비 공구수명이 길다고 알려져 있으며, 전반적으로 우수한 특성에 의해 전 세계적으로 습식 및 건식 기계 가공 용도로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 AlCrN based coating에 미량의 원소를 첨가한 coating의 우수한 기계적 특성의 원인을 규명하기 위해 텅스텐카바이드(WC) 기판 위에 아크 이온 플레이팅 장비를 이용하여 AlCrN based coating을 증착 시킨 sample을 분석하였다. 결정구조 및 상 분석을 위해 X선 회절분석(XRD)을 실시하였으며, 미세 구조를 분석하기 위해 전계방출형 주사전자현미경(FE-SEM), 투과 전자현미경(TEM) 분석을 실시하였다. 또한 코팅층의 화학적 성분 분석을 위해 EDX분석을 실시하였으며 기계적 특성 평가를 위해 나노압입시험(Nano-indentation test)을 진행하였다.

성형 압력에 따른 T800 탄소섬유/에폭시 복합재료의 평면 내.외 물성 변화에 대한 연구 (A study on the variation of in-plane and out-of-plane properties of T800 carbon/epoxy composites according to the forming pressure)

  • 본 논문에서는 필라멘트 와인딩 시 장력에 의해 압밀을 유발하는 압력을 선행연구자들의 연구를 참조하여 결정한 후 T800 탄소섬유/에폭시 복합재료의 기본적인 물성과 성형압력 변화에 따른 면 내 외의 물성 변화를 측정하였다. 실험 시편은 오토클레이브 진공백 성형을 통해 압력(절대압력 0.1MPa, 0.3MPa, 0.7MPa)을 조절하여 제조되었다. 모든 시편은 적층판 형태로 정화된 후 워터젯을 이용하여 시편 모양으로 절단되었으며, 층간 전단시편의 V-노치는 밀링가공을 통하여 제작되었다. 평면 내 물성을 위해 다양한 인장실험이 실시되었으며, 평면 외 물성을 측정하기 위해 층간 전단 실험이 수행되었다 성형압력과 물성 변화를 관련시키기 위해 시편의 섬유 부피분율을 측정하였다. 본 연구에서 측정된 물성은 동일한 탄소섬유 (T800 탄소섬유)를 사용하여 필라멘트 와인딩 공정으로 제작되는 차량용 Type III 수소저장용기의 설계에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

자유곡면물체(自由曲面物體)의 금형설계(金型設計) 및 제작(製作)의 자동화(自動化)를 위한 CAD/DAM - 로우터리 경운(耕耘)날을 중심(中心)으로 - (Development of a CAD/CAM System for the Die Having Complex Geometric Solid Shape - for Rotary Blade as an Example -)

  • The CAD/CAM system for the manufacturing automation is the newest technology in mechanical engineering area and becomes the important research subject nowadays. Most of all hardwares and softwares for the CAD/CAM system used in the our manufacturing companies such as automobile company are developed by the foreign country and the purchasing price of them is very expensive but their applicability to a certain area is very limited. This study was conducted to develope a CAD/CAM system for the design and the automatic manufacturing of the iron pattern shaped with 3 - dimensional free curved surface, and to test its applicability to the design and the manufacturing of the rotary blade. The results obtained from the study are as follow; 1. The CAD system which can process graphic procedures from the free curved surface shaped data was developed with personal computer. 2. The CAM main program was developed. This main program could produce CL data from CAD data file by checking the tool interference according to the cutting mode. 3. The sub. program which can simulate the tool trace from the CL data was developed. 4. The post processor for the Deckel FP2NC NC milling machine from CL data file was developed and the sub program could transmit NC program through modem to NC milling machine was developed. 5. The developed CAM system seemed to be applicable to any other system. Because the measuring results of the cross sectional thickness of the plastic model from the manufacturing iron pattern by the system showed that this system could properly check the tool interference. 6. In took 75~90 hours to manufacture two iron patterns of rotary blade. For the sake of convenience in applying to the other systems, this system was developed in BASIC and FORTRAN computer language and minimum portion of machine language as possible.
