  • This paper introduces the control and measurement of a double parallel robot manipulator applied for unknown geometric surface grinding. A measurement system is developed to recognize a grinding path by a vision camera and to observe a grinding load by a current sensor. With the measured fusion information, an intelligent controller identifies the unknown geometric surface and moves the robot along the grinding path with a constant grinding load.

  • In this Paper we propose a navigation algorithm which can be used to estimate state vectors such as position and velocity for its motion control using multi-sensor output measurements. The output measurement we will use in estimating the state is a series of known multi-sensor asynchronous outputs with measurement noise. This paper investigates the Extended Kalman Filtering method to merge asynchronous heading, heading rate, velocity of DVL, and SSBL information to produce a single state vector. Different complexity of Kalman Filter, with biases and measurement noise, are investigated with theoretically data from KRISO's AUV. All levels of complexity of the Kalman Filters are shown to be much more close and smooth to real trajectories then the basic underwater acoustic navigation system comment)'used aboard underwater vehicle.

  • The promoter region of the pupA gene of Pseudomonas putida WCS358 was fused with the structural genes for bioluminescence (luxCDABE) from Vibrio fischeri, and the resulting fusion plasmid harbored by the WCS358 host. The pup-lux fusion gene was then used for quantitative analysis of the iron-dependence of pupA promoter activity. Factors affecting bioluminescence produced by the pup-lux bioreporter were found to be cell activity, iron-chelator concentrations, Fe(III) concentrations, and nutrient components. Light production rates of the pup-lux bioreporter were inversely dependent upon iron molecules when $FeCl_3$ concentrations were between $10^{-2}$ and 1 ${\mu}M$ in nutrient-poor minimal media, and between 0.1 and 10 mM in nutrient-rich complex media.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy data fusion scheme which can analyze the sensor condition, the strength and location of a force applied to a test material. These can be realized by the modelling and fusioning of sensor signals and sensor properties. The technique uses, as the inference variables, relative magnitude of data (RMD), absolute magnitude of data (AMD) initial state (IS), synchronized relational function (SRF) and asynchronized relational function (ARF). To show the usefulness of this scheme, an experiment on the cantilever bar and six strain gages is carried out. The location of the force is inferred from SRF and ARF and the strength from RMD and AMD. In particular, the strength is compared with the measurement data of the force sensor.

  • The scroll pump is widely used in ultra clean vacuum systems. However, there is no commonly available information on the hydrogen pumping characteristics of this pump, which creates a difficulty in determining whether the scroll pump can be used or not in a fusion experiment system where hydrogen ,is the main working gas. In this paper the experimental setup, measurement procedures, experimental results, and discussions on the pumping speed, the maximum compression ratio and the back-streaming properties of the scroll pump, especially for the hydrogen gas, are reported.

  • We consider a distributed estimation where many nodes remotely placed at known locations collect the measurements of the parameter of interest, quantize these measurements, and transmit the quantized data to a fusion node; this fusion node performs the parameter estimation. Noting that quantizers at nodes should operate in a non-regular framework where multiple codewords or quantization partitions can be mapped from a single measurement to improve the system performance, we propose a low-weight estimation algorithm that finds the most feasible combination of codewords. This combination is found by computing the weighted sum of the possible combinations whose weights are obtained by counting their occurrence in a learning process. Otherwise, tremendous complexity will be inevitable due to multiple codewords or partitions interpreted from non-regular quantized data. We conduct extensive experiments to demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides a statistically significant performance gain with low complexity as compared to typical estimation techniques.

  • In this paper, An analysis on the intelligence system for a biped walking robot(BWR) was made and its results were applied to the BWR. Various sensors were applied to the developed BWR for autonomous and intelligent walk in unknown environments. To measure the distance between the object and BWR, ultrasonic sensor and infrared-rays sensor were used. To identity surrounding environments, vision system was used. Gyro sensor was used to control the posture of BWR. Also, piezoelectricity sensor was used to identity the pressure of foot landing on the surface. Sensors applied to the robot have measurement errors according to noises or walking environments. To improve the function of these sensors, influences of noise or sensing errors were minimized using a sensor fusion scheme. A gait test using the sensor fusion system was performed, and its results are presented.

  • In this paper, we propose an interworking architecture for building indoor air quality monitoring server (BEMS) using IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things). The proposed monitoring server adopts IIoT-based standard protocol so that interaction with BEMS installed in existing buildings can be performed easily. It can effectively communicate with indoor air quality measurement sensor installed in the building based on IIoT, Indoor air quality monitoring is possible. We implemented a proposed monitoring server, and confirmed the availability and monitoring of data from sensors in the building.

  • We consider a design of a combined quantizer and estimator for distributed systems wherein each node quantizes its measurement without any communication among the nodes and transmits it to a fusion node for estimation. Noting that the quantization partitions minimizing the estimation error are not independently encoded at nodes, we focus on the parameter regions created by the partitions and propose a cluster-based quantization algorithm that iteratively finds a given number of clusters of parameter regions with each region being closer to the corresponding codeword than to the other codewords. We introduce a new metric to determine the distance between codewords and parameter regions. We also discuss that the fusion node can perform an efficient estimation by finding the intersection of the clusters sent from the nodes. We demonstrate through experiments that the proposed design achieves a significant performance gain with a low complexity as compared to the previous designs.

  • We propose a train position estimation method for automatic train control system. The accurate train position should be continuously feedback to control system for safe and efficient operation of trains in railway. In this paper, we propose the sensor fusion method integrating the tachometer, the transponder, and the doppler sensor for estimation of train position. The external sensors(transponder, doppler sensor) are used to compensate for the error of internal sensor(tachometer). The Kalman filter is also applied to reduce the measurement error of the sensors. Simulation results are then presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.
