  • Anti-surface missiles have been the most dangerous threat to the surface ships, therefore analyzing the defense effectiveness of surface ships against diverse anti-surface missiles attack strategies is very important to evaluate and anticipate the naval combat ship's abilities in terms of AAW (Anti-Air Warfare). In this paper, we don't study on the defense effectiveness of a ship against a missile, but focus on the defense effectiveness for surface ships against multiple missiles specialized in strategies of anti-surface missiles; ripple fire attack and simultaneous time on target attack (STOT). So, we conduct a variety of monte-carlo simulations with high-fidelity simulators, analyze the measure of defense effectiveness for the key factors of strategies and evaluate the effects and possible interactions of several factors through the analysis of the design of experiment (DOE).

  • This study attempts to assess university library organizational effectiveness and to develop an instrument to measure the construct. Major findings of the study are as follows. First, organizational effectiveness criteria can be reduced to fifteen factors. Second, four distinct clusters of libraries are identified, each showing a unique effectiveness profile. Third, there are significant differences in dimensions of organizational effectiveness according to the number of users, full-time staff, unit and position to which respondents belong. The investigation shows that organizational effectiveness of university libraries is, indeed, a multidimensional construct, implying that no single measure of effectiveness Is sufficient to describe an organization.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate breastfeeding effectiveness scale to measure effectiveness of breastfeeding for mothers in the early postpartum period. Methods: A conceptual framework was constructed from properties of effective breastfeeding (Yang and Seo, 2011), and item construction was derived from literature review and analysis of the data along with interviews with breastfeeding mothers. Content validity was tested by experts. Each item was scored on a five-point Likert scale. The preliminary questionnaire was administered to 248 breastfeeding mothers. Data were analyzed using item analysis, factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Results: From the factor analysis, 20 items in seven factors were derived. The factors were identified as mother's satisfaction, suckling, assurance of milk quantity, infant's satisfaction, latching on, infant's feeding desire, and breastfeeding positioning. The seven factors explained 65.1% of total variance, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of the total items was .83 and the factors ranged from .44 to .75. Conclusion: Results of this study suggest that breastfeeding effectiveness scale is a reliable and valid instrument to measure breastfeeding effectiveness of mothers in the early postpartum period.

  • In future warfare, most part of resources and their platforms would be replaced by unmanned system like UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle). They are also connected each other with communication network and it is called NCW(Network Centric Warfare) environment. Hence how to measure the effectiveness of UGV operated in NCW circumstance become an important issue. However, there are few research paper to deal with this kind of UGV effectiveness issue coupled with communication failure. In this paper, we proposed a new ABM process to measure the UGV effectiveness combined with communication success ratio based on terrain condition of the ground engagement. Additionally, we also provide the effectiveness analysis result when communication repeater is applied in case of communication failure.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to design an experimental simulation model for evaluating the UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle) effectiveness in a small unit combat scenario. Methods: We design and build a simulation model to evaluate the combat effectiveness of UGV in a small unit combat scenario. In order to build a simulation model, we used AnyLogic software tool which has functional advantages to describe agent-based simulation model. As for the combat scenario, we applied the typical engagement of mechanized unit equal or lower than battalion level. Analysis process follows the three phases. 1) Design an agent based conceptual medel in a small unit combat scenario. 2) Build a simulation medel using AnyLogic tool. 3) Analyze the simulation results and evaluate the UGV effectiveness. Results: The UGV effectiveness was measured and presented as a numeric values. Those numeric values were represented as a MOE(Measure of Effectiveness) which was the blue survival ratio. Conclusion: We developed an agent based simulation model which can provide a pattern of change how UGV effectiveness varied depending upon the number of UGV in a small unit combat scenario. We also found that the UGV effectiveness grows in the given scenario as the number of UGV increases.

  • This paper suggests a novel evaluation scheme of protective effectiveness in distribution systems. The adequacy of every parameter in a protective device is evaluated for the setting or correction rules. Then, the protective effectiveness of a device, device-wise effectiveness, is obtained by the combination of the parametric evaluation results. The coordination-wise effectiveness between devices can be calculated by evaluating the parameters which contribute the performance of coordination. The protective effectiveness of the whole system can be obtained by combining the device-wise and coordination-wise effectiveness values. The rules, in this paper, are categorized into three groups; rules for single parameter, rules for coordination between parameters, and rules for coordination between protective devices to form a hierarchical calculation model. The proposed method is applied to a typical distribution network to show its effectiveness.
