미주 한인 여대생이 생각하는 결혼과 출산의 의미: 현상학적 접근 (Meaning of Marriage & Childbirth among Korean Female University Students Living in the United States: A Phenomenological Approach)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to describe the meaning of marriage and childbirth among Korean female university students living in the United States, who are influenced both by Korean culture at home and American culture in social contexts. Methods: This qualitative study used phenomenological approaches. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews with five Korean female university students living in the United States. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's method to derive the meaning of marriage and childbirth. Results: From the data, 239 meaningful statements, 49 meaning formations, 22 themes, and 12 theme clusters were extracted. Additionally, five major categories emerged. These categories were 1) marriage as an opportunity for self-growth, 2) the mirror of life: parents, 3) oneself who cannot give up, 4) a desire to live a stable life, and 5) ambivalence on the culture of two countries. Conclusion: To improve the positive meaning of marriage and childbirth, a positive role model such as a happy married life of parents at home must be ensured. Finally, institutional strategies should be established to support the balance between home and work, as well as various policies which support women's pregnancy and childbirth.

여성 결혼이민자의 결혼생활에 관한 질적 연구: 대상화된 전형화를 넘어서기 (A Qualitative Research on Women Marriage Immigrants' Marital Life: Beyond Objectified Typification)

  • 본 연구는 결혼이민자의 관점에서 결혼생활의 의미를 탐색하고자 Giorgi의 현상론적 방법론에 따라 진행되었다. 연구 결과 여성결혼이주민의 결혼생활 경험의 의미는 '사랑, 그 다양한 빛깔의 끌림', '남편, 참 좋은 사람', '맞닥뜨린 현실', '자녀, 안정과 기쁨 그리고 버거움', '한국 아줌마처럼 살아내라는 남편', '부대끼고 아련한 시부모와 친정부모', '결혼은 나의 힘: 노력하게 하는 원동력', '결혼생활을 넘어 공동체로' 이렇게 8가지로 도출되었다. 참여자들이 경험하는 결혼생활의 의미는 사랑에 끌려 결혼한 참 좋은 사람과 낯설고 두렵지만 부대끼면서 한국 아줌마처럼 살아나가기였다. 이는 결혼이민자를 대상화하여 다문화가정에 대한 부정적인 전형화를 넘어서는 결과였다.

혼수의 사회적 의미 및 혼수가 결혼생활에 미치는 영향 : 사회교환이론적 접근 (The Social meaning and the Adaptable Effects on Marriage Life of the Honsu: A social Exchange View)

  • The exploratory purpose of this study was to investigate the Honsu trend and to examine the relationships between the Honsu, marriage exchange resources and marital satisfaction from general group and also explore the differences in Honsu expenditure between the general group and the aimed group. the explanatory purpose of this study was to prove the social meaning of the Honsu as a 'productive exchange resources' using Emerson's exchange network theory. The data was collected from 800 men and women of general group and 72 men and women of aimed group within 5 years of marital duration through the questionnaire method. Major findings of the study from the general group were as follows : in general group 1. The bridegroom group expended more Honsu than bride group. Bridegroom's primary expenditure item was house expenditure, and bride's primary one was newlywed life goods. 2. The bridegroom's Honsu were influenced positively by parents'SES, bridegroom & bride's education level and bride's parents'SES. Bride's Honsu were influenced positively by parents' SES and bridegroom & bride's education level. 3. Bridegroom's marital satisfaction were influenced positively by bride's marriage need, bridegroom's marriage need, bride's physical attraction and bridegroom & bride's education level. Bride's marital satisfaction were influenced positively by bride's marriage need, bridegroom's physical attraction, bridegroom & bride's education level, bridegroom's marriage need, bridegroom's future possibilities and bridegroom's Honsu. 4. The social meaning of the Honsu was a 'productive exchange resource'. 1. The bridegrooms of aimed group expended more housing expenditure and also Honsu than the brides but there's no statistically significant differences in Honsu expenditure between the bridegrooms and the brides of aimed group. 2. The bridegrooms of aimed group expended about 3 times more money for wedding present for spouse and abut 1.2 times more for Honsu than the bridegrooms of general group. The bride of aimed group expended about 4.6 times more money for general group. the bride of aimed group expended abut 4.6 times more money about 4 times more for housing expenditure and about 3 times more for total Honsu than the brides of general group.

개화기 조혼 담론의 가족윤리의식의 함의 (An Implied Meaning of Family Ethics Consciousness of Early Marriage Discourse During the Enlightenment Period of Korea)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore an implied meaning of family ethics consciousness from the interpretation of early marriage discourse during the enlightenment period of Korea. For the analysis, the estimated time frame of the enlightenment period wile be from 1860 to 1910 that was the time when the Japanese annexed Korea. The discourse of newspapers, Shinsoseols and magazines which are the text of the study have been analysed with the qualitative research technique. The major findings were as follows: 1. The intellects stated that the traditional practice of early marriage should be abolished, and should be replaced by a marriage that the groom and the bride dually agree upon. This argument meant that marriage was not an event for the parents or the family, but a life event for the couples themselves. 2. The practice of early marriage was criticized as it was one of the main reason of making marital relationship miserable. Also it was stated that the children could not follow the role of husband and wife. The importance of marital relationship was emphasized with the recognition that the marital relationship was the basic relationship within family and society. 3. The discourse, criticizing the parents'behavior that enforced the early marriage of children, stated that the children should not be the possession of parents but the public being of society. 4. The discourse also stated that the society and the parents should recognize their children as the human being to be protected from the early marriage which would result in physical damage of their children. Also the discourse asserted the rights of the children including their rights of education. The childhood were being formed in these discourses.

  • The purpose of the research is to critically review the major changes of marriages and families during the 20th & 21st centuries and its impact on family relations. Especially, three topics that is, changes in the meaning of marriage, changes in the gender role and sexuality, and changes in the life span were reviewed in terms of how those changes had impacts on each family members and who had been influenced most. Also, how those kinds of changes will have influences on marriage and family relations. Finally, based on the review implications and research agendas for the family scholars were added.

  • This study will attempt to show how the marriage customs is Korea have changed due to fluctuations in Korea society and values related to this fluctuation from the Japanese colonial period to the present. The procedures for marriage consists of preparation union and absorption. Before 1960 these mainly conformed to the old marriage customs of traditional society. Nowadays the processes of preparation in marriage have been eliminated in large part the processes of union have been changed to western style and the processes of absorption have been altered to a adegree. Matching the horoscopes of a prospective bride and groom and the "marriage box" still remain from the procedures of old marriages. The meaning of marriages as familism has changed to a form that emphasizes individualism opportunism and materialism.terialism.

결혼이주여성의 경제생활 의미에 관한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on the Meaning of Economic Life of Marriage Immigrant Women)

  • 본 연구에서는 질적 연구방법 중 현상학적 연구방법으로 결혼이주여성들의 경제생활에 대한 생생한 이야기에 귀기울이고, 경제생활 경험의 역동성을 심층적인 면담을 통해 그 의미를 분석하고자 한다. 연구질문은 "결혼이주여성이 경험하는 경제생활의 의미는 무엇인가"이다. 연구결과, 의미 있는 진술 67개를 추출하였고, 15개의 중심 의미를 조직하였다. 15개의 중심 의미는 '팍팍한 삶', '자녀교육비, 보험료 등의 소득 불안', '적응을 위한 생활방식의 변화 도모', '일자리를 통한 경제안정을 추구', '친정가족에 대한 지원과 회귀 기대'라는 5개의 주제 묶음으로 범주화하였다. 연구자는 해석학적 글쓰기 적용을 위해 1인칭 화자를 통해 구조적 기술을 하였다. 즉, 결혼이주여성이 체험한 한국의 경제생활의 의미는 '팍팍한 현실을 적응해 나가기 위한 생활방식의 변화를 추구하며 가족중심의 힘겨운 대처과정' 이었다. 이러한 진술을 통해 결혼이주여성 부부의 안정적인 노후경제생활을 위해 국민연금의 (가칭)'부부합산' 제도의 적용으로 노령연금의 수급의 기회를 확대하는 정책의 적극 도입 등 다양한 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

  • The purposes of this study are to explore the consumption expenditure and consumption-cultural meaning in the process of marriage and to provide consumer education programs for premarital couples. For the purpose, this study uses a qualitative analysis including an in-depth interview and a participant observation. Major findings are as follows: Consumers preparing for their marriage experienced quite a different consumption context, which should be said an exceptional practice from the economic point of view. As the agency businesses for marriage becomes one of the fast growing industries, the marriage of Korea is now under the rule of popular consumption culture. Thus, the exceptional consumption abuse during a marriage process brings about the imbalance in consumers' daily life after wedding ceremony. In this point of view, we can see the importance of consumer education programs for the marriage process. The latter half of this study is devoted to propose the desirable model of the consumer education program for premarital couples.

결혼이주여성의 건강행위 어려움 (Difficulties of Health Behavior of the Migrant Inter-marriage Women)

  • 본 연구는 결혼이주여성의 건강행위 어려움을 이해하고 그 경험의 의미를 기술하고자 시도되었다. 2010년 4월부터 5월까지 심층면담과 관찰법을 사용하여 결혼이주여성의 건강행위 어려움을 수집하고 Colazzi가 제안한 현상학적 연구방법에 따라 연구결과를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결혼이주여성의 건강행위 어려움의 중심현상은 "건강정보가 부족함", "문화적 차이로 갈등을 겪음", "의료기관 이용이 부담스러움", "결국은 혼자라고 느낌"으로 도출되었다.

국제결혼부부의 가치관 및 의사소통유형과 갈등과의 관계 (The Values, Communication Type and Conflict of International Marriage Couple)

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the values, communicaton type and conflict type also marital satisfaction level of international marriage couples in Chunlabuk-do. Its results are as follows ; the 140 respondents were surveyed for this study. The follows are to be concluded based on the study. First, they living with their extended family members(85.7%). So most women have psychological burden relatives relationship as well as marital relationship. Second, meaning of marriage and reason of marriage was differently perceived by both couples. They need a family life education program and counseling of marital relationship. Third, conflict and marital satisfaction level were significantly affected. Fourth, type of communication was the only variables that siginificantly affected the type of congruence by both couples. Age and nationality acquisition were variables that siginificantly affected by women on international marriage. In conclusion, systemic korean education program is an important support system for women on international marriage and a crucial program for their settlement in Korea.
