A Study on the Development of Standard Type Modern Han-ok in Rural Areas (농촌지역 보급형 현대 한옥 모델 개발에 관한 연구 -전라남도 사례를 중심으로-)

  • Jeollanamdo aims to cultivate Hanok Village as a lodging resource for tourism industry in rural areas. For the purpose, it invited eight models of the Hanok Village publicly and selected our model as the best. This study is to introduce the concepts and characteristics of the village, centering on the model developed by our research team and awarded by the local government. We develop and suggest eleven types of improved-type Hanok model that is to be distributed to each city and county. We compose the space which reflects needs of residents for modern living. And we focus on preservation of decorative beauty to make it a resource of tourism by creating beautiful view of Hanok and reduction of financial burden to activate its distribution. The Hanok developed in this study has a significant meaning as improved Hanok that can be suggested as a new model of rural area housing project.

A Trend Analysis of Consumers for the Development of Apartment Interior Design (아파트 상품 디자인 개발을 위한 소비자 트랜드 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze consumer's lifestyle, needs and preferences and design trends for planning of the future apartment interior design. Recently, social change such as computerization, industrialization, pluralism and globalization has been braught lots of changes to modern housing spaces. The meaning of ‘Family’ and ‘Residence’ has been diversified by various life-style of modern family. Therefore, the new concept of residence is needed to change for the future housing plans and satisfy their sophisticated needs and preferences considering modern family's lifestyle and life-span. This research was conducted through the questionaire-survey, taste style survey by show card, and focus group interview(F.G.I) for investigating consumer's life style and tastes. Through this research, four-types of consumer's lifestyle were classified by analyzing data and special spaces such as family-room, media room, interior planted-space, and men's room were needed to consider interior space planning. This study shows that the planning of storage space, flexible space, livingroom and multi-used space will be more important in apartment interior space.

  • 104 village has kept the landscape of low-income settlements at hillside village as called 'Daldongnae' since 1960s. It has high urban and social values in modern housing history of Korea. This study is to analyze the basic type, transformed type of street facade and also the meaning in the modern housing history. It analyzes basic elements(building elevation, gate, fence) and subsidiary elements(roof form, door, window), and the type of street facade by the composition of the element.

  • In the work of contemporary spatialization, the meaning of program is being an important conceptual element beyond simple functional dimension. The design of this diagram allows to balance among changing programs, and it comes into the spotlight as a medium, which links the virtual to the reality as embodying the virtual, which is not embodied realistically, realistically through the design process. In other words, this method is attracting the public attention as a design tool which can concentrate on design process rather than a fixed tool. This study focuses on the role of balancing among mixed programs and the diagram as a design tool. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze and research the work of spatialization, which apply to diagrams of contemporary designers, is to identify operating mechanism and then is to examine the characteristics and importance of them.

A Study on the Transfiguration of the Inner-Courtyard at the Single - Detached Urban Dwellings (도시 단독주택 마당의 변용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the trasfiguration of the inner-courtyard (MADANG) at the single-detached urban dwellings in Taegu using the documentary research and survey method. The data was analyzed by the frequency, percentage, and x2-test. The major finding of this study was that the conventional meaning of the inner-courtyard existed in the designation and necessity, facilites, and needs in the future of the open space at the single-detached urban dwellings. Although people who were in their 30s favored the western style of house and garden, people who were in their 50s favored the traditional style of inner-courtyard. Finally, the concept of inner-courtyard at a single-detached urban dwelling is gradually changing to that f westren garden.

  • Korean Folk Village was founded in 1974 as the first open-air museum in Korea. It consists of over one hundred traditional Korean houses and buildings. Most of structures in the Village were reproduced or newly constructed in traditional style. Some houses were used as craft shop and folklore performance. Preservation of vernacular architecture by the government began in the late 1960s in Korea. The development of the Village was initiated by the central government for the sake of attracting both the foreign and domestic tourists. Park Chung-hee administration focused on national culture to justify their dictatorship. The government drove a very rapid economic growth in the 1970s and Korean society was in the midst of modernization leaving many traditional landscapes behind in the memory. The Village was aimed to appeal the Korean people's nostalgia and at the same time to combine their folk into the modern nation.

  • The Japanese style official residence were built by Chosun bank during the Japanese colonial period. The purpose of this study is to find out the architectural meanings of Chosun bank's official residence, its influences on Korean modem dwellings through trace of the original form and actual survey on the residence. We could understand influences of the rationality, also through the process of prototype's transformation and maintenance's change, we can know that the residence's modernizing process don't have the inflow onesidedly but the process of the collision and the assimilation to the differences between the residential sense and one's culture.

  • Remains of settlement are important sources of information in understanding the life style of the time and restoring it. This paper analyzed and studied the residential lives of the time including location of settlement, form and size, interior and change patterns based on Jangheung Sinpoong-ri Site. This study will have a meaning in that it deals with settlement in community well beyond the scope of previous studies which focused on settlement in small sizes and is expected to be a principle one about human residential structure.

  • Louis I. Kahn's spacial composition is characterized by traditional motives and Ecole des Beaux which had influenced him. This influence had showed five forms about Kahn's spacial composition. His constituent factors in geometrical form are classified into the propositional system, the cellular multiplication of a special unit, the Poche Space and others. According to the results of this study obtained from above mentioned subjects, it can be concluded that geometrical factors, which constitute space of plan, are totally expressed as a system of order which unites particular ones into whole one. This characteristic had developed into a completed meaning for passing through the residential architecture in 1950's, and showed in the other artworks there after.

  • The goal of this research is to analyze interrelationship for layout of dwelling house and variation of its side plane by introducing concept of space in order to address as to how Korean traditional houses had been formed and varied in the middle of advancing modern city. In addition, this paper also has its meaning in a way that it identified how Korean traditional houses have been changed, and thus make residents more comfortable to live there by reviving their past characteristics, and make users have traditional food culture. Targeted area for this paper is limited to south-eastern area of Daegu such as Namsanjung, Myeongchijung, Sijangjung, Shinjung and Dalsungjng which was group dwelling houses of people of Chosun Dynasty during Japanese colonial rule' era ($1910{\sim}1945$). Among those places, the paper has chosen a place where Korea traditional houses were well preserved, variation of road and fields was less 1930s, and residential type is easy to effectively compared. As the result of this research, time when traditional cities were changed into new type of city residential area is believed to be around 1930s, and traditional residential area, through its transitional process, is believed to be changed to modern residential area. It also indicates that change of organizational road and fields directly had influence on change of houses.
