  • The dyeing of cotton fabric with Forsythia koreana NAKAI was investigated. The colorant was extracted with methanol under various concentrations of dyestuffs at $40^\circ{C}$ and $76^\circ{C}$. UV-VIS spectrum was obtained to find the maximum wavelength of colorant. Cotton fabrics were dyed at different temperatures, mordants, in pre and post mordanting methods. The maximum wavelength of spectrum were 390nm, 410nm, 440nm. The highest K/S value was showed at 100% dye concentration, extracted at $76^\circ{C}$ and dyed at $80^\circ{C}$. The mordant effect was not good in the K/S values. The light fastness was increased at Fe-pre mordant and Cr, Fe-post mordant.

  • Recently, characteristic research by the changes in the spectrum, one of the factors that influence analysis of maximum output power of PV module, has been studied. In this paper, a one-day intensity of solar irradiation, change of spectrums with time and electrical output for spectrums are analyzed. As a result, blue-rich wavelength compared with red-rich wavelength has large variation of solar irradiance with time, so we recognized that change of solar irradiance is dominated by variation of blue~rich wavelength. Also in same intensity of solar irradiance, electrical output in blue-rich wavelength was 3-8 % higher than one in red-rich wavelength.

  • Poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT) was synthesized by use of FeCl$_3$ as a oxidizing agent at $25^{\circ}C$. The infrared spectrum of our polymer gave good evidence for the conjugation of 3-hexylthiophene monomer unit. P3HT contains the HT(head-to-tail) linkage larger than 64% based on NMR analysis. Electronic absorption and photoluminescence studies show that cast films of P3HT have three exciting state. Absorption spectrum was separated with three maximum peaks by Giese-French method and shifted to the shorter wavelength with increasing temperature. Separated absorption spectrum of P3HT is well adapted to PL peak appeared at longer wavelength. Low temperature PL spectrum is well separated at 669nm, 733nm and 812nm.

  • Electroluminescent[EL] from conjugated polymers has recently received great attention because polymer light-emitting diodes[LEDs] clearly have potential for applications such as large-area displays. The operation of polymer LEDs is based on double injection of electrons and holes from the electrodes, followed by formation of excitons whose radiative decay results in light emission at wavelength characteristic to the material In this paper, we fabricated the single layer EL device using poly(3-octylthiophene)[P3OT] as emitting material. The orange-red light was clearly visible in a dark room Maximum peak wavelength of EL spectrum saw at 640nm in accordance with photon energy 1.9eV. And we know that ionization energy of P3OT is 4.7eV from the cyclic voltammetry.

  • In this study, the characteristics of catechol tannin and pyrogallol tannin contained in Pteridium aquilinum were analysed by It spectrum. Silk fabrics were dyed with Pteridium aquilinum extracts using various mordants, and their dyeing properties were discussed. Additionally the fastness the water digestion, perspiration liquid digestion and light irradiation were investigated. IR spectrum of catechol tannin showed bands of O-H at $3417cm^{-1}$, C-H at $2930cm^{-1}$, C=0 at $1722cm^{-1}$, C=C at $1644cm^{-1},\;CH_2\;at\;1402cm^{-1}$. And IR spectrum of pyrogallol tannin showed bands of O-H at $3409cm^{-1}$, C-H at $3003cm^{-1}\;and\;2933cm^{-11}$, C=0 at $1701cm^{-1}$, C=C at $1582cm^{-11},\;CH_2\;at\;1410cm^{-1}$, CO at carboxylic acid and carboxylic acid ester at $1287cm^{-1}\;and\;1135cm^{-1}$. The maximum absorption wavelength of the extracts appeared at 270.0nm and 311.5nm. The optimum conditions for dyeing silk fabric with Pteridium aquilinum extracts were $80^{\circ}C$, 60min. Surface color of the silk fabric dyed with Pteridium aquilinum extracts was 2.7Y Surface color of the pre-mordanted fabrics with Al, Cu and Fe were 4.3Y, 2.5Y and 4.7Y, respectively. And Surface color of the post-mordanted fabrics with Al, Cu and Fe were 3.7Y, 2.8Y and 0.2GY. The water fastness and the alkaline perspiration fastness were improved in the Al-mordanted silk fabrics. By acidic and alkaline perspiration treatment, ${\Delta}E of the unmordanted fabrics was lower than hat of pre- and post- mordanted fabrics. Also after 40hour irradiation, ${\Delta}E of the unmordanted fabrics was lower than that of pre- and post- mordanted fabrics.

  • Photosynthesis of plants is effective in the range of 550 to 700 nm of the wavelength of solar irradiation. If the conversion of ultraviolet to the above mentioned region is possible, the photosynthesizing ability is expected to be enhanced. $Eu^{3+}$ doped soda-lime bulk and $TiO_2-SiO_2$ sol-gel coated glasses were prepared and their spectroscopic properties were studied. The absorption and emission spectra for the specimens were measured with the changes of wavelength and Eu ion concentration in the range of the wavelength of 300 to 700nm. The transmittance intensity of visible light through the bulk glass and the coated one was unchanged with the addition of Eu element. The emission spectrum intensity of $Eu^{3+}$ was found to be the maximum at 618 nm which is a transition of $^5DO{\rightarrow}^7F_2$. Additionally, it was shown that the intensity was linearly increased up to 10% of the Eu concentration.

  • The effect of gain dispersion on the self-pulsation (SP) characteristics due to the mode beating of two modes emitted in a multisection DFB laser composed of two complex-coupled DFB sections and a phase control section is investigated. When the peak wavelength, ${\lambda}_{p}$, of the gain spectrum of the DFB section is positioned in the center of the lasing wavelengths or the Bragg wavelengths of the two DFB sections, the maximum SP frequencies are higher and the modulation index has better characteristics compared to those cases for ${\lambda}_{p}$ fixed at the lasing wavelength or Bragg wavelength of one DFB section, when the difference between the Bragg wavelengths of the two DFB sections, ${\Dalta}{\lambda}_{B}$, is varied. When ${\lambda}_{p}$ is positioned in the renter of the Bragg wavelengths of the two DFB sections, the maximum SP frequency is higher and of the modulation index has better characteristics compared to those of the case for ${\lambda}_{p}$ positioned in the center of the lasing wavelengths of the two DFB sections.

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of wavelength and intensity of light curing units on the curing of composite resin. The wavelength and intensity of nine units were evaluated with Optical Multichannel Analyzer and Radiometer. Two-part split stainless steel mold with a cylindrical hole-3.0mm in diameter, 6.0mm in hgieht-was prepared. After placing a Mylar strip between two parts, 100 specimens were made by inserting each of four composite resins into the mold and irradiating for 20 seconds with five light units alternatively. The curing depths were measured by scraping method and evaluated by two-way ANOVA. And Vicker's hardness measurements were made on the longitudinally sectioned surface at 0.5mm interval. The results were as follows: 1. Visilux 2 showed a narrow spectral band within the effective wavelength in initiating polymerization and the highest intensity. Translux showed the diffuse spectrum of wavelength and the lower light intensity. 2. Visilux 2 showed the highest curing effect in any composite resin and then followed by Optilux, Efos 35, Heliomat and Translux. (p < 0.01) 3. Durafill showed the deepest curing depth in any light unit and then followed by Bisfil M, Silux and Heliosit. (p < 0.01). 4. Maximum hardness values showed 0.1mm and 0.5mm under top surface and then gradually decreased with depth.
