A slitter is a sort of machinery to cut sheet materials in rolls continuously in the longitudinal direction. Recently slitter line users have requiring higher quality and precision in products in addition to high productivity. A finite element analysis has been performed to investigate the effect of processing factors on shear planes in the slitting of Shrinkage Band(S,K.B.). For the analysis, Hot-dip 55% aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel sheets and coils(SAZCC) is selected as a material. The results obtained are that deformation was concentrated along the very narrow zone and the maximum slitting load decreases by increasing the knife clearance. Also effective strain decreases according to the clearance increases.

In this paper the bending collapse characteristics of square and rectangular steel tubes were studied with the pure bending test machine which apply pure bending moment without imposing shear and tensile forces. Under pure bending moment, delayed buckling modes occur and depend on test length and shape of section. For delayed mode, the endrgy of bending moment is absorbed by strain hardening energy. The pre- dictions of maximum moment and moment-rotation angle curve from those concepts are in good agreement with experimental observations.

Failure of spot-weld joints in car body may cause noise, vibration and safety problems. Systematic procedures for estimating fatigue strength of general spot-weld joints are developed in this paper. Fatigue test results for various spot-welded specimens are analysed using the finite element method. It is found that the maximum principal strain at the nugget boundary on the inner surface governs the fatigue failure of spot-welded joints.

In these days, The base isolation system is often used to improve the seismic capacity of the structures instead of conventional techniques of strengthening the structural members. The purpose of this study is to evaluate dynamic property evaluation of control equipment using lead Lead Rubber Bearing. In this study, a base isolation test of seismic monitoring control cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was performed. The cabinet will be installed on access floor in MCR(main control room) of nuclear power plant. Details and dynamic characteristics of the access floor were considered in the construction of testing specimen. N-S component of El Centre earthquake was used as seismic input motion. Acceleration response spectrums in the top of cabinets showed that the first mode frequency of cabinet with LRB(lead rubber bearing) was shifted to 7.5 Hz in compared with 18Hz of cabinet without LRB and the maximum peak acceleration was reduced in a degree of22 percent from 2.35 g to 1.84 g
Fatigue test was conducted on a S45C steel using hour-glass shaped smooth tubular specimen under biaxial loading in order to investigate the crack formation and growth at room temperature. Three types of loading system, i.e fully reserved cyclic torsion without a superimposed static tension or compression, fully reserved cyclic torsion with a superimposed static tension and fully reserved cyclic torsion with a superimposed static compression were employed. The test results show that a superimposed static tensile mean stress reduced fatigue lifetime. however a superimposed static compressive mean stress increased fatigue lifetime. Experimental results indicated that cracks were initiated on planes of maximum shear strain with either a superimposed mean stresses or not. A biaxial mean stress had an effect on the direction which cracks nucleated and propagated at stage I (mode II).

In this paper, the rolling-sliding contact problem of a layered semi-infinite solid compressed by a rigid surface is solved by finite element method based on the elasto-plastic theory. The purpose of this paper is to present the standard that is needed the later design. For this analysis, the principal parameters are layer thickness. Young's modulus ratio of layer and substrate and friction coefficient. In particular, this paper is interested in effect that layer thickness have influence upon displacement and shear and tensile stress at interface. For the layered material, the layer and the substrate behave elastic and linear-strain hardening respectively. For law friction, a relatively thin layer reduce the undesired maximum tensial stress but, for high friction, act contrary to the case of low friction.
The near-collapse performance limit is defined as the deformation at the 20% drop of maximum base shear in the decreasing region of the pushover curve for ductile framed buildings. Although monotonic pushover analysis is preferred due to the simple application procedure, this analysis gives rise to overestimated results by neglecting the cumulative damage effects. In the present study, the acceptabilities of monotonic and cyclic pushover analysis results for the near-collapse performance limit state are determined by comparing with Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) results for a 5-story Reinforced Concrete framed building. IDA is performed to obtain the collapse point, and the near-collapse drift ratios for monotonic and cyclic pushover analysis methods are obtained separately. These two alternative drift ratios are compared with the collapse drift ratio. The correlations of the maximum tensile and compression strain at the base columns and beam plastic rotations with interstory drift ratios are acquired using the nonlinear time history analysis results by the simple linear regression analyses. It is seen that these parameters are highly correlated with the interstory drift ratios, and the results reveal that the near-collapse point acquired by monotonic pushover analysis causes unacceptably high tensile and compression strains at the base columns, as well as large plastic rotations at the beams. However, it is shown that the results of cyclic pushover analysis are acceptable for the near-collapse performance limit state.

The study was conducted in order to investigate the basic geotechnical properties of sand-bentonite mixtures with the various bentonite contents. The results obtained are as follows : 1. Optimum moisture content of sand-bentonite mixtures was approximately 17.10~18.52% corresponding to the maximum dry density of 1.58~1 .64gf/$cm^3$. As the bentonite contents and curing peroid increased, both the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of sand-bentonite mixtures increased. 2. The unconfined compressive strength of sand-bentonite mixtures increased as the increase of bentonite content, but it did not change along the curing period. 3. The sand-bentonite mixtures ruptured at 8~15% of the axial strain and the maxi-mum shearing stress was about O.7Okgf/$cm^2$. 4. According to the increase of bentonite content, the cohesion intercept and internal friction of the sand-bentonite mixtures increased slightly in the shear test, while the cohesion intercept increased largely, and the internal friction angle decreased largely in the triaxial test. 5. Both the initial void ratio and swelling of the sand-bentonite mixtures were very low with respect to the consolidation pressure increase. 6. The swelling and shrinkage of sand-bentonite mixtures increased slightly according to the increment of bentonite content.
Wave propagation with high transverse deflection could affect the stability of the ball in its trajectory. For low stiffness balls similar to soccer and volleyball balls, the waves are more noticeable in comparison to other balls like ping-pong ball. On the other hand, the soccer balls are under heavy impact loads from shoots and contacting different objects in the field. The maximum recorded speed of a soccer ball after kicking is the 211 km/hr and the average maximum speed is around 112 km/hr. Therefore, in such speeds the aerodynamic forces become important which are directly related to geometrical shape of the ball. In this regard, the wave propagation in soccer ball is examined in the current study using large deformation shear deformable formulations. Classical relations of stress-strain components are taken into consideration along with minimum total energy principle. The final derived relations were solved by using harmonic differential quadrature method. The results are generally presented ion term of phase velocity as function of different influencing parameters of the materials, geometry and mass of the ball.

This paper describe the optimal design of geodetic network by analytical technique based on the quality criteria of network. We described an example of geodetic network design taking into account the precision, reliability and robustness that are the main criteria of network design. The main goal of this paper is to evaluate the criteria to design the geodetic network coinciding with the criteria of high precision(error ellipse, 2DRMS, CEP), reliability(internal and external reliability) and robustness(maximum shear strain, principal strain, dilatation). The network design parameters computed in this study show that precision and reliability has not much improved by about 2% and 3%, respectively, than the observed network, while robustness has much improved by about 3, 100%. It also shown that maximum errors of precision, reliability and robustness were reduced by 5%, 7% and 16,957%, respectively.
