All-optical switching has been demonstrated in bacteriorhodopsin (bR) based on nonlinear intensity induced excited state absorption. The transmission of a cw probe laser beam at 410 nm corresponding to the peak absorption of M state through a bR film is switched by a pulsed pump laser beam at 570 nm that corresponds to the maximum initial 8 state absorption. The switching characteristics have been analyzed using the rate equation approach considering all the six intermediate states (B, K, L, M, N and 0) in the bR photocycle. The switching characteristics are shown to be sensitive to life time of the M state, absorption cross-section of the 8 state at probe wavelength ($\sigma$$\_$Bp/) and peak pump intensity. It has been shown that the probe laser beam can be completely switched off (100 % modulation) by the pump laser beam at relatively low pump powers, for $\sigma$$\_$Bp/ = O. The switching characteristics have been used to design all-optical NOT, OR, AND and the universal NOR and NAND logic gates for optical computing with two pulsed pump laser beams.
Woven sisal textile reinforced composites were manufactured to evaluate fracture toughness, and tensile test. All specimens were immersed in water five times. All specimens are immersed in pure water during 9 days at room temperature, and dried in 1 day at $50^{\circ}C$. Two kinds of polymer matrices such as epoxy and vinyl-ester were used. Fractured surface were investigated to study the failure mechanism and fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion. It is shows that it can be enhanced to improve their mechanical performance to reveal the relationship between fracture toughness and water absorption fatigue according to different polymer matrices. Water uptake of the epoxy composites was found to increase with cycle times. Mechanical properties are dramatically affected by the water absorption cycles. Water-absorbed samples observed poor mechanical properties such as lower values of maximum strength and extreme elongation. The $K_{IC}$ values demonstrate a decrease in inclination with increasing cyclic times of wetting and drying fur the epoxy and vinyl-ester.
The purpose of the present work is to investigate the influence of the refrigerant adulteration by LiBr solution on the cooling capacity and COP for three different types of abso게tion chillers: a single-effect type, a series-flow double-effect type and a parallel-flow with double-effect type. A simulation program has been prepared for the cyclic analysis of absorption chillers. With some assumptions, the calculations have been performed by solving the mass balance equation, energy balance equation and the state equation simultaneously. The range of the LiBr concentration of refrigerant was 0% to 20% in the present study. For the single-effect absorption chiller, the maximum decrease in the cooling capacity was 10% at the 20% of LiBr concentration. For the double-effect chiller, the capacity was decreased by 11.1% for the parallel-flow type and the series-flow type. Also, the COP was reduced by 3.0% in single-effect, 2.8% in series-flow type (SR=0.4) and 2.3% in parallel-flow type.
The objective of this paper is to study the effects of the input gas flow rate and the ambient temperature variation on the absorption cycle performance. An air-cooled NH$_3$-$H_2O$ absorption chiller is tested in the present study. The nominal cooling capacity of the single effect maching is 17.6 ㎾ (5.0 USRT). The cooling capacity, coefficient of performance, burner efficiency, and each state point are measured with the variations of the heat input and the ambient temperature. It is found that the COP and cooling capacity increase with increasing the generator exit temperature up to a certain temperature and then decrease. It is also found that the COP and the cooling capacity decrease with increasing the ambient temperature. The maximum COP of 0.51 is obtained from the present experiment.
Photosensitive resin of azide type is good for resolution and inner solvent, but it is really problem to development of practical use because fanctional groups of polymer has many hydrophilic radicals. By careful attention to this point, this study was investigated synthesis term, photo property and development property of composed photosensitive resin of azida type, it is to this effect. 1) H-NMR spectrum of compared DABCI showed amion redical by $\delta$6.0~6.1ppm to substitude for azide radical by amino radical by $\delta$8.9~9.45ppm, and FT-IR absorption spectra showed the absorption bends at 2100cm. 2)FT-IR absorption spectra of PHS1-DAB, PHS2-DAB, CMM-DAB and CHM-DAB showed azida radical pick to be lost at after irradiation by UV light. 3) According to exposuer change of PHS1-DAB, PHS2-DAB, CMM-DAB and CHM-DAB, absorption maximum value of UV spectrum change was 280nm. 4) to compared relative sensitivity of compared photosensitive resin, PHS2-DAB was the best and to compared insolubility rate of compared photosensitive resin, CMM-DAB was the lower. 5)Solubility if NaOH was the best by 1.0mol/$\ell$ and solubility of developing solution of ethanol to water was it in the ratio of 4 to 1.
Epoxy resins are widely used in microelectronics packaging such as printed circuit board and encapsulating for semiconductor manufacturing. Water can diffuse into and through the epoxy matrix systems and moisture absorption at boarding interfaces of matrix resin systems can lead to a hydrolysis at the interfaces resulting in delamination of encapsulating materials. In the study, the changes of diffusion coefficient and moisture content ratio of epoxy resin systems with nano-sized fillers according to the change of liquid type epoxy resins were investigated. RE-304S, RE-310S, RE-810NM and HP-4032D as a epoxy resin, Kayahard AA as a hardener, and 1B2MI as a catalyst were used in these epoxy resin systems. After curing, moisture content ratios were measured with time under the 85 and 85% relative humidity condition using a thermo-hydrostat. The maximum moisture absorption ratio and diffusion coefficient of EMC decrease with the filler content. It can be seen that these decreases are due to the increase of filler surface area and the decrease of moisture through channel with the content of nano-sized filler.
Si nanowires have exhibited unique optical characteristics, including nano-antenna effects due to the guided mode resonance, significant optical absorption enhancement in wide wavelength and incident angle range due to resonant optical modes, graded refractive index, and scattering. Since Si poor optical absorption coefficient due to indirect bandgap, all such properties have stimulated proposal of new optoelectronic devices whose performance can surpass that of conventional planar devices. We have carried out finite-difference time-domain simulation studies to design optimal Si nanowire array for solar cell applications. Optical reflectance, transmission, and absorption can be calculated for nanowire arrays with various diameter, length, and period. From the absorption, maximum achievable photocurrent can be estimated. In real devices, serious recombination loss occurring at the surface states is known to limit the photovoltaic performance of the nanowire-based solar cells. In order to address such issue, we will discuss how the geometric parameters of the array can influence the spatial distribution of the optical field (resulting optical generation rate) in the nanowires.
In this paper, the difference of the property of absorption and desorption for five species in semi-steady state are studied. The species used are listed in Table 1 and the dimension of specimen was $8\times8{\times}T$(Tangential direction)cm and tested in various conditions. A change of average moisture content with time were measured in each cycles. The results obtained are summarized as follows. When the relative humidity in air was maximum or minimum, the distribution of moisture In wood of all specimens were illustrated by exponential curves of decrease or increased from lace 10 center of wood. From the consideration of coefficient of decrease(C), the amount of moisture change of spruce was larger than the others. The pheonomenon was considered no relation to the specific gravity in air dry, but the wood structures. The velocity of the absorption and desorption for species decreased in the order spruce(Picea sitchensis) neodobam(Fagus crenata), solsong(Tsuga heterophylla), meranti(Shorea sp.) and kaesoo(Cercidiphyllum japoicum). In case of constant temperature and water vapor pressure is changed. the amount of absorbed moisture was larger than that of constant water vapor pressure and temperature vaned. In this fact, it is considered that the property of sorption of wood is strongly influenced by vapor pressure gradient than temperature gradient.
The objective of this study was to improved the limited functional characteristics of mungbean whole globulin. The mungbean whole globulin was acylated with succinic and acetic anhydride, and the functional properties of acylated protein were investigated, The results obtained ware as follows. 1. The UV-absorption spectra of acylated whole globulins with that of the succinylated 74% whole globulin as large blue shift of the absorption maximum and minimum wavelength from 275 nm to 269 nm, respectively. 2. The mobility of acylated whole globulin were increased on PAGE pattern, and degree of mobility was particularly remarkable in case of succinylation, 3. The water absorption capacity of whole globulin was increased by acylation. The most increased rate of whole globulin was 174,02% from succinylated 74%. The oil absorption capacity of whole globulin was increased by acylation The most increased rate of whole globulin was 165.41% from acetylated 81.77%. 4. The bulk density of whole globulin was decreased by acylation. and the greater the extent of acylation, the smaller the bulk density. 5. The foaming capacity and stability of whole globulin was increased by acylation, and remarkably high in 74% succinylated whole globulin. In contrast, however, the foaming capacity and stability of native and acylated whole globulin were decreased by heat treatment.
