  • This paper presents a system identification (SI) scheme in time domain using measured acceleration data. The error function is defined as the time integral of the least square errors between the measured acceleration and the calculated acceleration by a mathematical model. Damping parameters as well as stiffness properties of a structure are considered as system parameters. The structural damping is modeled by the Rayleigh damping in SI. The regularization technique is applied to alleviate the ill-posed characteristics of inverse problems. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by an experimental study on a shear building model.

  • The LDPC Code is focusing a powerful FEC(Forward Error Correction) codes for 4G Mobile Communication system. LDPC codes are used minimizing channel errors by modeling AWGN Channel as VDSL system. The performance of LDPC code is better than that of turbo code in long code word on iterative decoding algorithm. LDPC code are encoded by sparse parity check matrix. there are decoding algorithms for a LDPC code, Bit Flipping, Message passing, Sum-Product. Because LDPC Codes use low density parity bit, mathematical complexity is low and relating processing time becomes shorten.

  • This paper introduces a novel method of on-line identifying the stator resistance and leakage inductance of dual three phase induction motor (DTPIM). According to the machine mathematical model, the stator resistance and leakage inductance can be estimated using the voltage and current values in harmonic subspace. Thus a method of voltage vector injection in harmonic subspace (VVIHS) is proposed, which causes currents in harmonic space. Then the errors between command and actual harmonic currents are utilized to regulate the machine parameters, including stator resistance and leakage inductance. The principle is presented and analyzed in detail. Experimental results prove the feasibility and validity of proposed method.

  • In the process of the acquisition, storage, transmission of signals, noises are generated by various causes and the degradation phenomenon by noises tends to generate serious errors for the signal with information. So, in order to analyze and remove these noises, studies on numerous mathematical methods such as the Fourier transform have been implemented. And recently there have been many ongoing wavelet-based denoising algorithms representing excellent characteristics in time-frequency localization and multiresolution analysis, but the method to remove additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and the impulse noise simultaneously was not given. So, to reconstruct the corrupted signal by noises, in this paper a novel wavelet-based denoising algorithm was proposed and using signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) this method was compared to conventional methods.

  • The usual procedure for the optimal design of ship's steering system is to minimize a chosen quadratic performance index, which isdetermined from the view point of economic run. However, the optimal control synthesized in such a straightforward fashion is unsatisfactory because ship's parameters differ from their nominal values due to uncertainties and errors in measurement and/or simplifications in mathematical modelling, and/or the variation of the ship's loading condition. In an attempt to resolve this difficulty, this paper presents a method for designing a low sensitive optimal steering system in a way as to minimize not only given performance index but also the sensitivity of the performance index and trajectory sensitivity. It is also shown that the optimal control so obtained will result in a system whose performance index and transient response are low sensitive to small varation in ship's time constant.

  • This paper presents force feedback control performance of a 3DOF haptic device that can be used for minimally invasive surgery (MIS). As a first step, a 3DOF electrorheological (ER) joint is designed using a spherical mechanism. And it is optimized based on the mathematical torque modeling. Subsequently, the master haptic device is manufactured by the spherical joint. In order to achieve desired force trajectories, model based compensation strategy is adopted for the ER master. Therefore, Preisach model fur the PMA-based ER fluid is identified using experimental first order descending (FOD) curves. A compensation strategy is then formulated through the model inversion to achieve desired force at the ER master. Tracking control performances for sinusoidal force trajectory are presented, and their tracking errors are evaluated.

  • This study aims to establish interior orientation for various types of sensors including frame cameras, panoramic cameras, line cameras, and whisk-broom scanners. To do so, this study suggests the classification of components of interior orientation of which elements are different according to the sensors. This is entailed by incorporation of sensor characteristics into mathematical models of interior orientation parameters are suggested for being used as guidelines in recovering systematic distortions. Finally, the potential errors resulted from the assumption of regarding sensor model of whisk-broom scanner model as that of push-broom scanner are discussed.

  • Currently, batteries use commonly as energy sources for mobile electric devices. Due to the high density of energy, the energy storage state of a battery is very important information. To know the battery's energy storage state, it is necessary to find out the open state voltage of the battery. The open state voltage calculates with a mathematical model, but the computation of the real time state is complicated and requires many calculations. Therefore, the state observer designs to estimate in real time the battery open-circuit voltage as disturbance including model error. Using the estimated open voltage and applying it to the state estimation algorithm, we can estimate the charge. In this study, we first estimate the open-circuit voltage and design an estimation algorithm for estimating the state of battery charge. This includes errors in the system model and has a robust characteristic to noise. It is possible to increase the precision of the charge state estimation.

  • Conceptual and procedural knowledge of integration is necessary not only in calculus but also in real analysis, complex analysis, and differential geometry. However, students show not only focused understanding of procedural knowledge but also limited understanding on conceptual knowledge of integration. So they are good at computation but don't recognize link between several concepts. In particular, Riemann sum is helpful in solving applied problem, but students are poor at understanding structure of Riemann sum. In this study, we try to investigate understanding on conceptual and procedural knowledge of integration and to analyze errors. Conducting experimental class of Riemann sum, we investigate the understanding of Riemann sum structure and so present the implications about improvement of integration teaching.

  • Precise construction cost estimation is paramount to determining the total construction expense of a project prior to the initiation of the construction phase. Despite this, manual quantification and cost estimation methods, which continue to be widely used, may result in imprecise estimation and subsequent financial loss. Given the fast-paced and efficiency-demanding nature of the construction industry, trustworthy quantity and cost estimation is essential. To mitigate these obstacles, this research is focused on establishing an automated quantity estimation algorithm, particularly designed for the main rebar of beams which are recognized for their complicated reinforcement configurations. The exact quantity derived from the proposed algorithm is compared to the manually approximated quantity, reflecting a variance of 10.27%. As a result, significant errors and impending financial loss can be averted. The implementation of the findings from this research holds the potential to significantly assist construction firms in quickly and accurately estimating rebar quantities while adhering strictly to applicable specifications and regulatory requirements.
