  • A safety assessment was performed through the process analysis of hydrogen station. The purpose of this study provides basic information for the standard establishment about hydrogen stations. The processes of hydrogen stations were classified by four steps (process of manufacture, compression, storage, charge). FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) method was applied to evaluate safety. Each risk element is following; S (severity), O (occurrence), D (detection). And the priority of order was decided by using RPN (Risk Priority Number) value multiplying three factors. Scenarios were generated based on FMEA results. And consequence analysis was practiced using PHAST program. In the result of C.A, jet fire and explosion were shown as accident types. In case of leakage of feed line in PSA process, concentration of CO gas is considered to prevent CO gas poisoning when the raw material that can product CO gas was used.

  • One of the most important elements of the management of chemical accident is threat zone estimation of fires, explosions and toxic gas dispersion based on chemical releases. The threat zone estimation is going to be standard of emergency response for the first defender and base line data of off-site risk assesment (hereinafter referred to as "ORA") and risk management plan (hereinafter referred to as "RMP"). Generally, ALOHA form EPA(U.S.) and Kora(from KOREA MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT) has been used for the off-site consequence analysis in Korea. However it is hard to predict accurate consequences rapidly in case of emergency. Hydrochloric acid is a multipurpose raw material used in many industrial applications such as chemical, metal and food industries. It is usually treated in concentrations from 10 ~ 35 %, and release accident have occurred frequently. In this study, we have developed a simplified estimating method and equation to calculate threat zone easily in case of emergency due to release accident of hydrochloric acid.

  • Most of the accidents occurred from the chemical plants are related to the catastrophic gas release events when the large amount of toxic materials is leaked from its storage tank or transmitting pipe lines. In this case, the greatest concerns are how the spreading behaviors of leakages are depended on the ambient conditions such as air stability and other environmental factors. Hence, we have focused on the risk assessments and consequential analysis for chlorine as an illustrative example. As appeared in the result, Fire & Explosion Index depicted it a bit dangerous with presenting the comprehensive degrees of hazard 90.7. And as a result of Phast6.0/ALOHA, the trends of each scenario appeared considerably identical although there are some differences in the resulting effects according to the input data for the Gas Model. The consequence analysis is performed numerically based on the dense gas mode. In the future, using more correct input data, material properties, and topographical configuration, the method of this research will be useful for the guideline of the risk assessment when the release of toxicants breaks out.

  • It was carried out consequence analysis(CA) of CNG (compressed natural gas) service station and we compared the results of CA of CNG service station with LPG service station which was installed by high Pressure gas law. The results of CA were that distance of CNG LFL was 1.5 times than the length of LPG LFL. Thermal radiation effect about CNG may not be showed damage of process facilities, but in the case of LPG, it was enough to have an large damage effect on a downtown. The thermal radiation of 37.5 $kw/m^2$ extended 12.6 m. Also, in the case of 12.5 $kw/m^2$ which was able to burn wood, the radiation effect of LPG is 3 times than CNG.

  • Level 3 Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) is performed for the risk assessment that calculates radioactive material dispersion to the environment. This risk assessment is performed with a tool of MELCOR Accident Consequence Code System (MACCS2 or WinMACCS). For the off-site consequence analysis of multi-unit nuclear power plant (NPP) accident, the single location (Center Of Mass, COM) method has been usually adopted with the assumption that all the NPPs in the nuclear site are located at the same COM point. It was well known that this COM calculation can lead to underestimated or overestimated radionuclide concentration. In order to overcome this underestimation or overestimation of radionuclide concentrations in the COM method, Multiple Location (ML) method was developed in this study. The radionuclide concentrations for the individual NPPs are separately calculated, and they are summed at every location in the nuclear site by the post-processing of radionuclide concentrations that is based on two-dimensional Gaussian Plume equations. In order to demonstrate the efficiency of the ML method, radionuclide concentrations were calculated for the six-unit NPP site, radionuclide concentrations of the ML method were compared with those by COM method. This comparison was performed for conditions of constant weather, yearly weather in Korea, and four seasons, and the results were discussed. This new ML method (1) improves accuracy of radionuclide concentrations when multi-unit NPP accident occurs, (2) calculates realistic atmospheric dispersion of radionuclides under various weather conditions, and finally (3) supports off-site emergency plan optimization. It is recommended that this new method be applied to the risk assessment of multi-unit NPP accident. This new method drastically improves the accuracy of radionuclide concentrations at the locations adjacent to or very close to NPPs. This ML method has a great strength over the COM method when people live near nuclear site, since it provides accurate radionuclide concentrations or radiation doses.

  • Purpose: Resorption of the alveolar bone is an unavoidable consequence of tooth extraction when appropriate alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) measures are not taken. The objective of this trial was to test the hypothesis that dimensional changes in the alveolar bone after tooth extraction would be reduced by inserting an equine collagen membrane and a collagen cone to fill and seal the alveolus (as ARP), in comparison to extraction with untreated alveoli. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 31 patients were directly treated with the collagen material after extraction of a tooth from the maxilla (the ARP group). Twenty-nine patients served as the control group. After extraction, no further treatment (i.e., no socket preservation measures) was performed in the control group. Changes in the alveolar process immediately after extraction and after an 8 (${\pm}1$)-week healing period were evaluated 3-dimensionally. Blinded analyses were performed after superimposing the data from the digitalized impressions and surfaces generated by cone-beam computed tomography. Results: Both the ARP and control groups showed a reduction of bone in the alveolar area after tooth extraction. However, significantly less bone resorption was detected in the clinically relevant buccal region in the ARP group. The median bone reduction was 1.18 mm in the ARP group and 5.06 mm in the control group (P=0.03). Conclusions: The proposed hypothesis that inserting a combination material comprising a collagen cone and membrane would lead to a difference in alveolar bone preservation can be accepted for the clinically relevant buccal distance. In this area, implantation of the collagen material led to significantly less alveolar bone resorption. German Clinical Trials Register at www.drks.de, DRKS00004769.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how elementary mathematics teachers' adaptations of a reform-oriented mathematics curriculum material in the USA, Everyday Mathematics, influence elementary students' opportunities to learn mathematics. I illustrate how elementary mathematics teachers alter the curriculum material and how such alterations influence their students' opportunities to learn mathematics in their mathematics classrooms. Results suggest that the teachers with Everyday Mathematics did not appear to maintain the cognitive demand of mathematical tasks as appeared in the curriculum material, as set up by the teacher, and as enacted in the classrooms. The results also show that the teachers seemed to omit components including important tasks and suggestions in the curriculum material. As a consequence, the students did not have an opportunity to think and understand mathematics conceptually and meaningfully; they were exposed and encouraged to learn mathematics procedurally.

  • Polystyrene (PS) microspheres were used to good advantage as a template material to prepare macroporous $TiO_2$ thin films. This is enabled to run the thermal decomposition of the PS without the collapsing of the 3-D macroporous framework during the calcination step. $TiO_2$ thin films were deposited onto the colloidal templated substrates at room temperature by RF sputtering, and then samples were thermally treated at $450^{\circ}C$ for 40.min in air to remove the organic colloidal template and induce crystallization of the $TiO_2$ film. The macroporous $TiO_2$ thin film exhibited a quasi-ordered partially hexagonal close-packed structure. Burst holes, estimated to be formed during PS thermal decomposition, are seen as the hemisphere walls. the inner as well as the outer surfaces of the hollow hemispheres formed by the method of thermal decomposition can be easily accessed by the diffusing gas species. As a consequence, the active surface area interacting with the gas species is expected to be enlarged about by a factor of fourth as large as compared to that of a planar films. Also the thickness at neighboring hemisphere could be controlled a few nm thickness. If the acceptor density becomes as large that depletion width reaches those thickness, the device is in the pinch off-situation and a strong resistance change should be observed.

  • Contemporary architecture has two different movements that one is the utilization of digital technology and the other is the inclination to nature. After deconstructivism in architecture, the tendency of design shows the fusion between digitalism and organicism and as a consequence the phenomena of 'skin expression' has emerged which can be thought as 'organic digitalism' or 'digital organicism'. The definition of skin tendency in environmental design is the design of nature based on the technology. As a result, the surface becomes the design issue compared to structure and the momentum for new aesthetic value. There are post-structuralism, complex system theory and the organic architecture as theoretical background for the tendency of skin expression. Specially the ideas of post-structural philosophy has effected deeply to the formation of its movement and also offered the theoretical nutrition for digital architecture. The characteristics of the skin tendency can be analyzed as topological transformation, smooth continuum, deterritorialization, ecological response system, and tactility. These design characteristics has combined with conventional material and design vocabulary to transform and develope new spatial conception.

  • The color of objects varies with changes in illuminant color and viewing conditions. As a consequence, color boundaries are influenced by a large variety of imaging variables such as shadows, highlights, illumination, and material changes. Therefore, invariant color models are useful for a large number of applications such as object recognitions, detections, and segmentations. In this paper, we propose invariant color models. These color models are independent of the object geometry, object pose, and illumination. From these color models, color invariant edges are derived. To show the validity of the proposed invariant color models, some examples are given.
