  • The Passive acoustic control is used in various fields, such as structures, automobiles, aircraft and so on. It is used in variety of acoustic field with the absorbing material, as one of the methods which can control the acoustic in optional space. In that case of passive control using this absorption material, it would be important to maximize the control performance of material property, numbers, geometry shape and the attached location of boundary area of the absorbing material. But realistically these variables, specially material Property, have no broad choice. Therefore, the position of absorbing material is the most important variable. In this study, we use the optimization method to minimize acoustic energy of optional space in the interest frequency attaching some absorbing materials to the boundary area. For analysis and optimization, this study uses the FEA and the conjugate gradient method. This optimization process is very efficient and useful in the passive acoustic control.

  • Recently buildings are being constructed on the downtown area. In most building construction sites on the downtown area, the need for adequate material inventories are critical in order to avoid project delays and cost increases due to inappropriate deliveries of key materials. However immoderate material inventories cause increasing inventory cost. Therefore, we need a proper management material inventories. This research re-establishes the existing safety stock and analyzes relationship between safety stock and service level. It suggests an economical re-order point based on safety stock considering service level, various demand and delivery time.

  • In the current study, the effect of small surface defects in the starting material including roughness, indentations, or scratches, which are perpendicular to the direction of drawing, on the product quality is investigated using the finite element method. An axisymmetric defect is assumed. Such defects are defined by a cylindrical defect area and two tapered regions connecting the defect area to the non-defective area of the material. Various conditions for these initial surface defects are considered, including defect depth, defect slope and defect length. To describe the plastic deformation of the defect in detail during the simulation, local remeshing is applied. Based on the finite element results, defect disappearance maps were generated. It was found that defect disappearance is significantly dependent on the defect depth and the defect length coupled with the defect slope.

  • In order to develop the vacuum distillation process of magnesium alloy scrap, a fundamental study on the evaporation behavior of magnesium alloy (AM50) scrap melt was carried out. Melt temperature, pressure, reaction time, and initial specific surface area of melt were considered as experimental variables. The evaporation rate of magnesium increased with the increase of melt temperature and initial specific surface area of melt, and with the decrease of the pressure. The activation energy of magnesium evaporation reaction calculated by an Arrhenius plot decreased with the decrease of the pressure and with the increase of the initial specific surface area of melt. An empirical equation was derived for the evaporation rate of magnesium from AM50 alloy melt.

  • In this paper, plant crops used in the region to grow crops for the LED lighting area of a rectangle to fit the light distribution to maximize the efficiency of a rectangular distribution was made of LED lights. After the fabrication of LED lamps, light distribution, and in the area of $1.2m{\times}3m$ was the analysis of Illuminance chart. As a result of examining the performance light distribution for total Emin/Eav is 56%, and the target area of the light distribution compared to normal lamps Emin/Eav is improved by about 17%. In addition, plants grown in the area to minimize the outgoing light distribution can be focused on the cultivation area, according to the distance of the plants and be able to have the best luminous efficacy is judged.

  • This article provides strength estimation of T-joint area which made of composite material. Inner and outer structures of medium range surveillance radar are all made of sandwich structure which is made with composite material(CFRP) and aluminum honeycomb core. Since the radar is voluminous and has very complex inner structure, the whole structure cannot be made as one piece. Therefore, usage of T-joints is inevitable. Since some of stress concentration areas were located around T-joint area, series of strength estimations were conducted. Three different configurations were tested to improve mechanical properties(primarily on strength). The results show an improvement on strength to meet calculated strength on stress concentrated T-joint area.

  • The architecture of macrofaunal burrows and the total area of the sediment-water interface created by biogenic structure were investigated in the Donggeomdo tidal flat on the west coast of Korea. Resin casting methods were applied to recover burrows of four dominant species, Macrophthalmus japonicus, Cleistostoma dilatatum, Perinereis aibuhitensis, and Periserrula leucophryna, and whole burrows within the casting area at three sites in different tidal levels. P. leucophryna excavated the largest burrow in terms of a surface area among them. In the case of whole burrow casting, the space occupied by the biogenic structure was extended into deeper and expanded more greatly at the higher tidal level. In the uppermost flat, the burrow wall surface area within sediment was more extensive than the sediment surface area. Increased oxygen supply through the extended interface could enhance the degradation rates of organic carbon and also change the pathways of degradation. Quantifying the relationship between the extended interface and mineralization rate and pathway requires more extensive study.

  • Airborne or spaceborne remote sensing can increase the efficiency of seabed material surveys compared with field surveying using a vessel. For the same seabed material, the optical remote sensing image shows variation in the reflectance depending on the water depth, which is due to the absorption and scattering by the water column. This study suggests a correction procedure to use the hyperspectral image for seabed material analysis. The study is conducted in the coastal area from Sacheonjin Port to Gyungpo Beach in Gangwon-do. The hyperspectral image is acquired using the CASI-1500 sensor. The diffuse attenuation coefficient is estimated for each band through regression models between the water reflectance and depth. Then, the coefficient is applied to each band of the image. As a result, the completely corrected image can be interpreted for a deeper area, although the interpretable area is very shallow without water column correction. Additionally, the water column corrected image shows decreased variation of reflectance with various water depths.

  • As a fundamental study in the development of a distillation process for ferromanganese alloy melts, the evaporation behavior of an electrolytic manganese melt under reduced pressure was investigated. The melt temperature, vacuum degree, surface area of the melt, and reaction time were considered as experimental variables. The amount of vaporized manganese increases linearly as the reaction time increases, and the evaporation of manganese was promoted by increasing the temperature and surface area of the melt. In the pressure range below the equilibrium vapor pressure of manganese, the amount of vaporized manganese per unit surface area of the melt increased sharply with a decrease of the pressure in the reaction chamber. An empirical equation for the evaporation rate of manganese was derived by regression analysis. The evaporation coefficient of manganese was determined to be approximately $3.84{\times}10^{-3}(g{\cdot}K^{1/2})/(Pa{\cdot}cm^2{\cdot}min)$ under the investigated conditions.
