  • Let X be a n-set and let A = [aij] be a $n {\times} n$ matrix for which $aij {\subseteq} X$, for $1 {\le} i,\;j {\le} n$. A is called a generalized Latin square on X, if the following conditions is satisfied: $U^n_{i=1}\;aij = X = U^n_{j=1}\;aij$. In this paper, we prove that every generalized Latin square has an orthogonal mate and introduce a Hv-structure on a set of generalized Latin squares. Finally, we prove that every generalized Latin square of order n, has a transversal set.

  • In this letter, we introduce a new middleware architecture and its generic application programming interface (API) (called the T-DMB MATE API) for terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB). Middleware in T-DMB enables inter-operable applications to be downloaded from both broadcast and telecommunication networks in advance and to be executed in any type of T-DMB receiver. The middleware we introduce here is especially designed to support a proposed method for application provisions applied to a concept of application module appropriate to the service environment of T-DMB. We also verify the designed T-DMB MATE API through the implementation of the middleware and its application in a PC-based receiver.

  • In this paper we introduce the implementation of PC-based receiver platform to verify T-DMB middleware APIs. Recently, generic APIs in T-DMB middleware (called DMB MATE API) have been designed to enable inter-operable applications to be downloaded from both the broadcast and telecommunication networks in advance and to be executed on T-DMB receivers from any manufacturers. We also verify the designed MATE API through execution of several applications at the PC-based receiver. In future, the T-DMB middleware verified in PC can be implemented at various receivers such as T-DMB phone and portable T-DMB receiver.

  • This research is to examine the homogeneity in premarital resources that is exchanged in mate selection and its effect on marital satisfaction among the urban couples in the early period of marriage. Structured questionnaires from 310 urban couples who had been married less than three years were analyzed in this study. First the urban couples tended to seek homogamous selection in age educational level in socioeconomic status of the parents and themselves, Second those who had a spouse from his(her) own religious parental socioeconomic status showed higher level of marital satisfaction than those who had not. The rewards from personal traits such as physical attractiveness gender-role identity personality role-expectation value orientation and perceived reward found to have strong and positive associations with marital satisfaction. Parental approval and semi-arranged marriage were associated with marital satisfaction. Third perceived rewards from these resources and parental approval had significant effects on marital satisfaction; almost half of marital satisfaction was explained by these premarital factors.

  • Information about the mating behaviors of an endangered species is critical for the understanding of the natural history of the species as well as in situ and ex situ breeding programs designed to rehabilitate field populations. We describe the mating behaviors of the Mongolian racerunner (Eremias argus), an endangered species in South Korea. The mating of this species consists of precopulatory, copulatory, and postcopulatory stages and is composed of 12 different mating behaviors. During the postcopulatory stage, other males or females not involved in mating show more interference behaviors than during the precopulatory and copulatory stages. The male E. argus has an extraordinarily long postcopulatory bite, which may function as a type of mate-guarding behavior. This study is the first report on the mating behavior of a South Korean reptile.

  • In this study, we suggest an objective standard in selection of candidate horse mates. Korea Racing Authority provided racing records and pedigree information of 44 sires and 954 dams. The datasets were used to predict Racing Indices represented by the averages of earnings earned by offspring for each dam and sire that indicate the racing performance of its domestic progeny. Proportion of wins and second places to the number of taken races and the mean of distances for the won races of a sire were significant factors in linear model with minimum prediction errors. For dam, those factors were the average of earned money per race, number of outstanding broodmares in pedigree, and the comparable index which indicates the relative affinity with its mate. We can use the resultant model for a horse mate by choosing one of the candidates with the largest predicted value for hypothetical offspring.
