Coronoid process hyperplasia (CPH) of the mandible is a rare condition in which abnormal elongation of the coronoid process leads to chronic mandibular hypomobility. CPH causes impingement or impedance of the coronoid process on the inner surface of the frontal part of the zygomatic bone during mouth opening. The lack of significant symptoms makes the diagnosis difficult. Its etiology remains inconclusive despite several theories being suggested. In this report, three reviewed cases are presented. All three patients visited our clinic with limited mouth opening as the chief complaint. Standard clinical and radiographic examinations were conducted under the initial impression of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), and restricted jaw movements were confirmed in all cases. The absence of improved signs and symptoms following conservative treatment for TMDs or the indeterminate plain radiographs required the attending clinicians to consider three-dimensional imagery. Computed tomography revealed bilateral coronoid hyperplasia in all cases and impingement on the zygomatic bone in two of the three cases. After concluding that this condition caused the patients' limited mouth opening, the patients were referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for possible bilateral coronoidectomy or coronoidotomy. CPH usually presents no symptoms apart from a progressive reduction of mouth opening over time. Diagnosis is often delayed, and patients may undergo unnecessary treatment procedures. Clinicians should be aware of this condition and exercise caution in the differential diagnosis of patients with chronic mandibular hypomobility.

Demand for the femtocell is largely credited to the surge in a more always best connected communication conscious public. 3GPP defines new architecture and security requirement for Release 9 to deal with femtocell, Home eNode B referred as HeNB. In this paper, we analyze the HeNB security with respect to mutual authentication, access control, and secure key agreement. Our analysis pointed out that a number of security vulnerabilities have still not been addressed and solved by 3GPP technical specification. These include eavesdropping, man-in-the-middle attack, compromising subscriber access list, and masquerading as valid HeNB. To the best of our knowledge, any related research studying HeNB security was not published before. Towards this end, this paper proposes an improved authentication and key agreement mechanism for HeNB which adopts proxy-signature and proxy-signed proxy-signature. Through our elaborate analysis, we conclude that the proposed not only prevents the various security threats but also accomplishes minimum distance from use-tolerable authentication delay.
Pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma is a rare tumor with no characteristic symptoms. It is frequently misdiagnosed as pulmonary embolism. We report a case of pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma in a 48-year-old man with dyspnea, cough and blood-tinged sputum. He was initially suspected and treated as a pulmonary embolism. Computed tomography of the chest showed filling defects occupying the entire luminal diameter of the right and left pulmonary artery as well as extraluminal extension of the intraluminal mass. Surgical resection of the tumor confirmed pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma. After surgery, he received 8 cycles of combined chemotherapy consisting of doxorubicin and ifosfamide. After 8 cycles, Computed tomography of the chest showed interval regression of the residual tumor. Radiotherapy was done as total 6,000 cGy for 5 weeks, following the 8th chemotherapy. The patient's condition was successfully stabilized with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Due to the resource limitations of sensor nodes, providing a security protocol is a particular challenge in sensor networks. One popular method is the neighborhood-based key agreement protocol (NEKAP). NEKAP is an efficient and lightweight protocol, but it includes loopholes through which adversaries may launch replay attacks by successfully masquerading as legitimate nodes. In this paper, we present a modified security protocol for wireless sensor networks. We provide four types of keys for each node, which adapt to different security requirements; and an improvement is made to alleviate the replay attack. According to our qualitative performance analyses, the proposed security protocol provides effectiveness in terms of authentication security, attacking node detection, and replay attack resilience when compared to the conventional method.

Recently, the number of attacks by malicious application has significantly increased, targeting Android-platform mobile terminal such as Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab 10.1. The malicious application can be distributed to currently used mobile devices through open market masquerading as an normal application. An attacker inserts malicious code into an application, which might threaten privacy by rooting attack. Once the rooting attack is successful, malicious code can collect and steal private data stored in mobile terminal, for example, SMS messages, contacts list, and public key certificate for banking. To protect the private information from the malicious attack, malicious code detection, rooting attack detection and countermeasure method are required. To meet this end, this paper investigates rooting attack mechanism for Android-platform mobile terminal. Based on that, this paper proposes countermeasure system that enables to extract and collect events related to attacks occurring from mobile terminal, which contributes to active protection from malicious attacks.

Recently, according to the rapid increase of Web users, various kinds of Web applications have been being developed. Hence, Web QoS(Quality of Service) becomes a critical issue in the Web services, such as e-commerce, Web hosting, etc. Nevertheless, most Web servers currently process various requests from Web users on a FIFO basis, which can not provide differentiated QoS. This paper presents a load balancing method to provide differentiated Web QoS in clustering web server. The first is the kernel-level approach, which is adding a real-time scheduling process to the operating system kernel to maintain the priority of user requests determined by the scheduling process of Web server. The second is the load-balancing approach, which uses IP-level masquerading and tunneling technology to improve reliability and response speed upon user requests. The third is the dynamic load-balancing approach, which uses the parameters related to the MIB-II of SNMP and the parameters related to load of the system such as memory and CPU.

In 2011, C.-T. Li et al. proposed a secure user authentication scheme, which is an improvement over Kim et al.'s scheme to resolve several security flaws such as off-line password guessing attack and masquerading attack. C.-T. Li et al. claimed that their scheme prevents smart card security related attacks. Moreover, it provides mutual authentication and session key establishment. However, we found that their scheme is vulnerable to password guessing attack through password change phase, smart card forgery attack and stolen verifier attack. Moreover, C.-T. Li et al.'s scheme is not secure against password guessing attack as they claimed. In this paper, we also point out that their scheme is not practical to use.

An EPON which is going on standardization in IEEE 802.3ah, is tree topology consists of a OLT and multiple ONU using passive optical components, so this network is susceptible to variable security threats - eavesdropping, masquerading, denial of service and so on. In this paper, we design a security protocol supporting authentication and confidentiality services in MAC layer in order to prevent these security threats and to guarantee secure data exchange The designed security protocol introduce public-key based authentication and key management protocols for efficient key management, and choose Rijndael algorithm, which is recent standard of AES, to provide the confidentiality of EPON Proposed authentication and key management protocols perform authentication and public-key exchange at a time, and are secure protocols using derived common cipher key by exchanging public random number To implement the designed security protocol, we propose the procedures of authentication and public-key exchange, session key update, key recovery. This proposed protocol is verified using unknown session key, forward secrecy, unknown key-share, key-compromise impersonation.

Many biometrics-based user authentication schemes using smart cards have been proposed to improve the security weaknesses in user authentication system. In 2010, Chang et al. proposed an improved biometrics-based user authentication scheme without concurrency system which can withstand forgery attack, off-line password guessing attack, replay attack, etc. In this paper, we analyze the security weaknesses of Chang et al.'s scheme and we have shown that Chang et al.'s scheme is still insecure against man-in-the-middle attack, off-line biometrics guessing attack, and does not provide mutual authentication between the user and the server. And we proposed the improved scheme to overcome these security weaknesses, even if the secret information stored in the smart card is revealed. As a result, the proposed scheme is secure for the user authentication attack, the server masquerading attack, the man-in-the-middle attack, and the off-line biometrics guessing attack, does provide the mutual authentication between the user and the remote server. And, in terms of computational complexities, the proposed scheme is more effective than Chang et al.'s scheme.
