  • For Web System composed of a variety of hardware, software and network system, there is a wide difference in price, function and capacity. In addition, it is important to select the most suitable system when web system is constructed as the claim of high-quality web service from user has increased. Data of bench-marking is usually employed when the system is selected. Evaluation with the result of bench-marking, however, is not easy at web situation composed of a variety of systems. In this paper, first integrated bench-marking of hardware, software and network system metric were determined, and the plan to effectively compare and evaluate the result of bench-marking by using fuzzy set were offered.

  • The dye marker Sudan Red 7B was tested as an effective and appropriate marking method for searching the territory of the termite, Reticulitermes speratus, in Korea. The sensitivity of termites to the dye marker was evaluated by measuring the feed consumption amount, survival rate, retention time, and transfer efficiency of R. speratus according to the concentration and feeding period of Sudan Red 7B. As the concentration conditions of dye marker increase, Sudan Red 7B remarkably reduced the feed consumption of the termites. The survival rate was not significantly different from that of the control group (more than 90%), except when feed containing 1% or 2% concentrations of the dye marker was given for five days. The duration of the marking effect persisted for seven days, even at a concentration of 2% dye marker in the feed. No dye transfer by trophallaxis occurred between termites marked with Sudan Red 7B and unmarked termites.

  • In this study, an automatic marking system for fabric inspection machines was developed. The main objectives of the study were to promote intelligence and automation for the inspection process, as well as to increase textile industrial productivity. Generally, when a worker manually inspects and marks a fabric, human error and reduced efficiency are unavoidable. To overcome these problems, we developed an automatic marking system that uses robots. This system incorporates a vision camera to automatically recognize defects, and an optical fiber sensor to detect the side of the fabric. To verify the performance, the control system sends a command directly to the robot to mark the fabric. Finally, the actual production confirmed that the proposed system could perform the desired motion.

  • Since the marking robot draws lines by point-to-point operation, the robot's shifting path greatly affects the working time and productivity. Therefore, it is required to analyze the movement method based on the robot's motion and plan to minimize the movement time. Therefore, this study proposes a method that can optimize the robot's shifting path to minimize the working time of the marking robot. Through the results of this study, it is expected that the non-working time of the marking robot will be reduced and the efficient operation will be possible.

  • Background: Zygomatic arch is a bony arch constituting the lateral midface, which consists of 25% of all midface fractures. There are a number of ways to evaluate the extent of zygomatic arch fracture. Some authors have reported successful treatment outcomes using ultrasound (U/S). To add to the previous methods, we have considered ways to accurately display the location of the fracture line while using U/S with 23 gauge needle marking. We introduce our method, which provided satisfactory results for reduction using a portable U/S, and it can evaluate the fracture line simultaneously when reduction of an isolated zygomatic arch fracture is necessary, and needle marking, which can easily point out the fracture line on U/S. Methods: We studied 21 patients with an isolated zygomatic arch fracture who underwent closed reduction using U/S and needle marking between 2013 and 2015. Results: We achieved satisfactory results in all our cases with respect to reduction by using the Dingman elevator after performing a temporal approach incision, while confirming relative positioning between needle marking and zygomatic fracture at the same time, after insertion of a 23 gauge needle in the skin above the zygomatic arch fracture line parallel to it. Conclusion: We treated 21 patients with an isolated zygomatic arch fracture using U/S and the needle marking method, which provided satisfactory results because the extent of reduction of the fracture could be evaluated in real-time during the operation and exposure to radiation was reduced.

  • PURPOSES : This study was conducted to derive the optimum mixing ratio of phosphorescent pigment for the development of phosphorescent line marking. METHODS: In this study, we utilized a literature review and case study methodology, to describe the domestic and foreign state of practice for the production and mixing of phosphorescent pigment for use in line marking. The optimal mixing ratio was derived by comparing the reduction in luminance over time for the various phosphorescent pigment mixing ratios identified in the literature. In addition, performance and construction characteristics were analyzed using field testing techniques. RESULTS : The results were as follows: 1) the results of the luminance performance standards tests showed that all of the phosphorescence test specimens satisfied the phosphorescent fire protection standard. As the phosphorescent pigment mixing ratio increased, the luminance value increased, 2) the luminance reduction rate was minimum at the mixing ratio of 50%. However, when compared to a mixing ratio 40%, a small difference was recorded, the luminance reduction rate from the mixing ratio of 40% is judged as being converged. Therefore, in view of the economic efficiency, it was determined that the optimal mixing ratio was 40%, 3) as a result of construction on the field, a mixing ratio of 40% was found to have a higher luminance value than the general line marking for up to three hours after sunset, 4) it was found that the phosphorescent line markings without glass beads spraying had a higher luminance value than the phosphorescent line markings with glass beads spraying. CONCLUSIONS : Through the results of the basic experiments of the line markings obtained by blending a phosphorescent pigment, the results could be applied to play an important role in the development of phosphorescent line marking paint technology and in establishing application planning for on-site construction characteristics.

  • In order to establish order in fishing industry by cracking down on illegal fishing vessels effectively, it is an essential requirement to identify marking such as the name of fishing vessel and a port of register more easily. Accordingly, it is quite natural that markings on fishing vessels should be marked clearly in an appropriate size on an appropriate site in order for them to be distinguished on the air such as from planes as well as on the sea. Actually, when examining marks such as the name of a vessel which are operating in the country, marks of most fishing vessels are too small as they cannot be distinguished with the naked eye even very closely. There is no coastal fishing vessel which marks the name of fishing vessel on the upper part in order to distinguish it from planes. Fishing vessel law generally which regulates the basic laws about shipbuilding regulates marks on fishing vessel, and fisheries law only regulates sign boards of fishing vessels. Problems and improvement of the marking system on fishing vessels suggested by this paper are as follows. First, in order to contribute to establish order in fishing industry, it would be desirable to tighten standards in fisheries law besides the fishing vessel law. Second, it is difficult to distinguish marks such as the name of a vessel as relevant laws allow fishers to make such marks too small. It is necessary to set the standard for marks larger than those regulated by the international treaty. Third, the relevant laws do not regulate a letter form of marks. Therefore, it becomes a factor to make small marks hard to be distinguished more. It is necessary to decide a clear letter form. Fourth, there is insufficient detailed international standards about the marking system. It is necessary to regulate a detailed standard.

  • Road conditions which obstruct the driver from seeing road markings, such as in the evening or in the rain, due to the lack of a light source gives way to increasing the risk of traffic accidents. In order to increase road safety, the Korea Expressway Corporation set up a pilot project which used high-quality materials along a section of the Gyeongbu Expressway between Daejeon and Pangyo. There is little research on high-quality materials in the field of pavement marking. This study introduces high-quality materials used in pavement materials, presents the results of a survey conducted to examine the effect of the pilot project and analyzes traffic accident data from before and after the implementation of the pilot project. The survey results show that 87% of the respondents were highly satisfied with the pilot project. With the goal of evaluating the effect of the pilot project, this study used traffic accident data provided by the Korea Expressway Corporation accident data and performed a before-after study of the number of traffic. The results of data analysis show that there were 62 and 48 traffic accidents before and after the implementation of the pilot project. In addition, the result of Emperical Bayes Method indicates that there is an 41.7% decrease in the number of traffic accidents as an effect of High-quality Pavement Marking Materials.
