  • This study investigated commercial power theory of traditional market through the analysis of literature review. Consumers' store selection models are made up a theory based on normative hypothesis, theory of mutual reaction, utility function estimation model, and cognitive-behavioral model. Detailed models are as follows. Normative hypothesis based theory is divided into Reilly's retail gratification theory and Converse's revised retail g ratification theory. Interaction theory is composed of Huff's probability gratification theory, MCI model and Multi-nominal Logit Model (MNL model). There are four models in retail organization position theory such as central place theories, single store position theory, multi store position - assign model, and retail growth potential model. In case of single store position theory, theoretical and empirical techniques have developed for a decision to optimum single store position. Those are like these, a check list, the most simple and systematic method, analogy, and microanalysis technique. Aforementioned models are theoretical and mathematical commercial power measurement and/or model. The study has rather limitations because the variation factors included in formula are only a part of actual commercial power. Therefore, further study shall be made continuously to commercial power areas and variables.

  • Since 1993, M&A activities have been frequent in Liner shipping market. This study examines the effect of M&A on stock price reaction for acquiring firms listed on the market. The study covers the period from 1993 to 2009 and uses 61 daily closing prices of the acquiring firms before and after the M&A announcement day and is analyzed through the market-adjusted model in an event study. After calculating short-term performance using abnormal returns(AR) and cumulative average abnormal returns(CAR) before and after 30 days from the day of event, the results on the test show that the firm's values slightly increased through the M&A, but it does not attest to the statistical significance. In addition, this study investigates the AR difference between estimating windows and post-event windows for the 3 cases of each period before and after 30 days, 15 days, and 7 days from the event day to analyse the impact of M&A on the addition of acquiring firm's value. Our findings suggest that the M&A between Liner shipping companies is targeted for the long-term business strategy instead of the instant rise in the value of the firm involved.

  • Product harm crises can distort long standing favorable equality perceptions, tarnish a company's reputation, cause major revenue and market-share losses, lead to costly product recalls, and devastate a carefully nurtured brand equity. However, in spite of the devastating impact of product-harm crises, little systematic research exists to asses its marketing consequences. So, this study focuses on the negative publicity about companies and their products. Namely, this study presented how inclusion effect supported the relationship between negative publicity and consumers' response, market performance. According to the results, after negativity publicity was happened, it was appeared that the negativity image spread into other product lines(spillover effect; inclusion effect). Also, when they contact with the negative publicity, respondents negatively evaluated both production evaluation and corporate evaluation. And, in that case of the products with negativity publicity, compared with refutation strategy(defense strategy<study 2>), improving strategy(correction notice) had positive influence on recovery of sales, product evaluation, and corporate evaluation. Finally, as the reaction time toward negativity publicity was faster, the market performance got worse. Especially, according to two-way interaction, when the reaction time was fast, the difference between refutation strategy(defense strategy<study 2>) and improving strategy was not existed in product evaluation and corporate evaluation. However, when the reaction time was late(after a month), improving strategy had more positive evaluation than defense strategy in product evaluation, and corporate evaluation.

  • Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites produced by the aflatoxigenic fungi in suitable conditions. Saffron, Crocus sativus, is the most expensive spice in the world. Saffron is normally contaminated with soil and hand microflora during harvest and post-harvest operations. In this study, rapid assessment of aflatoxigenic fungi in saffron was accomplished using polymerase chain reaction. In total, 37 market samples were assayed in order to isolate aflatoxin-producing fungi. The 18.9% of the total samples were contaminated with aflatoxigenic fungi. Our results also show that most of the isolated fungi were saprophytes which are normally originated from soil during harvest and postharvest process.

  • For the commercialization of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), some serious problems such as the decrease of platinum use as catalysts and a larger overpotential of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) at cathode must be solved. In this study, 20%Pt/C and 20%PtCo/C catalysts for the cathode of PEMFC were synthesized from the chemical reduction method and evaluated using an electrochemical measurement. The ORR activity of synthesized 20%Pt/C and 20%PtCo/C had higher than that of the 20%Pt/C on the market. The synthesized 20%PtCo/C with the cobalt concentration (Pt:Co atomic ratio) from 5 to 20% showed the highest ORR activity.

  • This study aims to empirically investigate population stereotype of burner-control linkage of four-stove gas range for Koreans. Background: The previous studies' results for gas range stereotypes were different depending upon methods adopted, i.e., whether using questionnaires, computer simulation or physical models. It is known that the physical model experiment should not be methodologically replaced by the computer simulation or paper-and-pencil tests. Stereotype of gas range for Koreans was surveyed based on questionnaires, but has not been dealt with by using physical models. Method: An experiment was conducted to investigate stereotype of four-burner gas range, in which 32 subjects participated and a real gas range available in the market was bought and used. Four types of burner-control linkage were used as independent variable, and reaction time as dependent variable. Results: ANOVA revealed that four types of burner-control linkage and subjects' gender were not significant on reaction time. Duncan's multiple range test showed that reaction times for type III was significantly lower than those for the other three types of burner-control linkage(${\alpha}$=0.05). Conclusion: It is concluded based on the results of this study that stereotype of gas range for Koreans is type III. This is in agreement with results of existing studies using questionnaire survey, while different from those based on physical models. Application: The results of this study would be useful as an ergonomic guideline when designing gas ranges or similar equipments for minimizing operation errors.

  • Attitude control of a satellite is very important to ensure proper for mission performance. Satellites launched in the past had simple missions. However, recently, with the advancement of technology, the tasks to be performed have become more complex. One example relies on a new technology that allows satellites quickly alter their attitude while orbiting in space. Currently, one of the most widely used technologies for satellite attitude control is the reaction wheel. However, the amount of torque generated by reaction wheels is too low to facilitate quick maneuvers by the satellite. One way to overcome this is to implement posture control logic using a control moment gyroscope (CMG). Various types of CMGs have been applied to space systems, and CMGs are currently mounted on large-scale satellites. However, although technological advancements have continued, the market for CMGs applicable to, small satellites remains in its early stages. An ultra-small CMG was developed for use with small satellites weighing less than 200 kg. The ultra-small CMG measured its target performance outcomes using a precision torque-measuring device. The target performance of the CMG, at 800 mNm, was set through an analysis. The final torque of the CMG produced through the design after the analysis was 821mNm, meaning that a target tolerance level of 10% was achieved.
