Image-based Localization Recognition System for Indoor Autonomous Navigation (실내 자율 비행을 위한 영상 기반의 위치 인식 시스템)

  • Recently, the localization recognition system research has been studied using various sensors according to increased interest in autonomous navigation flight. In case of indoor environment which cannot support GPS information, we have to look for another way to recognize current position. The Image-based localization recognition system has been interested although there are lots of way to know current pose. In this paper, we explain the localization recognition system based on mark and implementation of autonomous navigation flight. In order to apply to real environment which cannot support marks, localization based on real-time 3D map building is discussed.

Dual-Encoded Features from Both Spatial and Curvelet Domains for Image Smoke Recognition

  • Visual smoke recognition is a challenging task due to large variations in shape, texture and color of smoke. To improve performance, we propose a novel smoke recognition method by combining dual-encoded features that are extracted from both spatial and Curvelet domains. A Curvelet transform is used to filter an image to generate fifty sub-images of Curvelet coefficients. Then we extract Local Binary Pattern (LBP) maps from these coefficient maps and aggregate histograms of these LBP maps to produce a histogram map. Afterwards, we encode the histogram map again to generate Dual-encoded Local Binary Patterns (Dual-LBP). Histograms of Dual-LBPs from Curvelet domain and Completed Local Binary Patterns (CLBP) from spatial domain are concatenated to form the feature for smoke recognition. Finally, we adopt Gaussian Kernel Optimization (GKO) algorithm to search the optimal kernel parameters of Support Vector Machine (SVM) for further improvement of classification accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that our method can extract effective and reasonable features of smoke images, and achieve good classification accuracy.

The Recognition for Asian-dust in North-East Asia (동북아 황사문제에 대한 일반인의 인식)

  • Dust phenomenon is a critical thing in the East Asian countries. However, it is quite recent that Asian dust has drawn much attention and the scientific investigation of dust particles began. In this study, the recognition for Asian-dust in Northeast Asia region was analyzed. The survey results show that the people generally recognize the origins and seriousness of Asian dust and understand the difficulty in solving the dust related problems. However, approaches to figure out Asian dust have many difficulties and limits in scientific, economic and political points of view and more detailed road map is needed based on government policy.

  • It is known that SOFM has the property of effectively creating topographically the organized map of various features on input signals, SOFM can effectively be applied to the recognition of Korean phonemes. However, is isn't guaranteed that the network is sufficiently learned in SOFM algorithm. In order to solve this problem, we propose the learning algorithm combined with the conventional K-means clustering algorithm in fine-tuning stage. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we performed speaker dependent recognition experiment using six phoneme classes. Comparing the performances of the Kohonen's algorithm with a proposed algorithm, we prove that the proposed algorithm is better than the conventional SOFM algorithm.

Recognition of Emotion and Emotional Speech Based on Prosodic Processing

  • This paper presents two kinds of new approaches, one of which is concerned with recognition of emotional speech such as anger, happiness, normal, sadness, or surprise. The other is concerned with emotion recognition in speech. For the proposed speech recognition system handling human speech with emotional states, total nine kinds of prosodic features were first extracted and then given to prosodic identifier. In evaluation, the recognition results on emotional speech showed that the rates using proposed method increased more greatly than the existing speech recognizer. For recognition of emotion, on the other hands, four kinds of prosodic parameters such as pitch, energy, and their derivatives were proposed, that were then trained by discrete duration continuous hidden Markov models(DDCHMM) for recognition. In this approach, the emotional models were adapted by specific speaker's speech, using maximum a posteriori(MAP) estimation. In evaluation, the recognition results on emotional states showed that the rates on the vocal emotions gradually increased with an increase of adaptation sample number.

  • Recently, many researchers in the world are concentrated to develop the robot platform which is to reduce the developing cost by reusing existing softwares. In this paper, we describe that the 3 dimension recognition object components for OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Services) which is developed in Korea. We present that the structure of the component, disparity map and depth map algorithm for recognizing 3 dimension space. We used stereo matching and block matching method to produce the disparity map. We test the component on the computer with OPRoS platform and show the results of accuracy and performance time.

A Noble Decoding Algorithm Using MLLR Adaptation for Speaker Verification (MLLR 화자적응 기법을 이용한 새로운 화자확인 디코딩 알고리듬)

  • In general, we have used the Viterbi algorithm of Speech recognition for decoding. But a decoder in speaker verification has to recognize same word of every speaker differently. In this paper, we propose a noble decoding algorithm that could replace the typical Viterbi algorithm for the speaker verification system. We utilize for the proposed algorithm the speaker adaptation algorithms that transform feature vectors into the region of the client' characteristics in the speech recognition. There are many adaptation algorithms, but we take MLLR (Maximum Likelihood Linear Regression) and MAP (Maximum A-Posterior) adaptation algorithms for proposed algorithm. We could achieve improvement of performance about 30% of EER (Equal Error Rate) using proposed algorithm instead of the typical Viterbi algorithm.

  • In this study, we developed a world map learning system for elementary education that uses Google Cloud platform STT, Dialog Flow, and fan holograms to recognize the voices of learners and to show and explain three-dimensional images of suitable results as holograms. As a result of the experiments and interviews, it is expected to be helpful for improving the learning effect by inducing students' interest and immersion and is expected to be effectively used for collaborative learning and education for students with disabilities.

  • It is necessary to construct an effective regional information system in facing the incoming information intensive society. Many local government in Korea began to recognize a need for constructing a GIS(Geographic Information System) and they are planning to construct GIS´s to improve their administrative efficiency. However, ti requires high-priced hardware, software, and an experienced operator to sue a GIS effectively. The purpose of this study is to develop the GIS program which can be sued with ease by common users. By developing a GIS functioned program using a coordinate recognition module by application of geo-spatial data, and a digital map which is already made, this program can be used efficiently only by only inputting attributes without high-priced hardware and software, and can be utilized easily to every purposes of work with geo-spatial data and attributes. MapObjects, mapping and GIS component, was employed to use geo-spatial data, and Access 97 from Microsoft to manage and attributes database. Visual Basic, objected-oriented language, was used to develop an application program. Results of this study were applied to constructing the Information system of Kanwon National University. This program could be used for various purposed by common users without additional hardware and software.
