Multi-view video system provides both realistic 3D feelings and free-view navigation. But it is hard to transmit too huge data, so we send only two or three view images and generate intermediate view image using depth information. In this paper, we propose high quality multi-view image generation method from stereoscopic images. Since the stereo matching method does not provide accurate disparity values for all the pixels, especially at the occlusion area, we propose an occlusion handling method using the background pixels at first. We also apply a joint bilateral filtering to enhance the disparity map at the object boundary since it can affect the quality of synthesized images significantly. Finally, we can generate virtual view images at intermediate view positions using confidence map to reduce bad pixel and hole's error. Experimental results show the proposed method performs better than the conventional method.

In this paper, we propose new depth estimation and intermediate view synthesis algorithms for three-dimensional video generation. In order to improve temporal consistency of the depth map sequence, we add a temporal weighting function to the conventional matching function when we compute the matching cost for estimating the depth information. In addition, we propose a boundary noise removal method in the view synthesis operation. after finding boundary noise areas using the depth map, we replace them with corresponding texture information from the other reference image. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm improved temporal consistency of the depth sequence and reduced flickering artifacts in the virtual view. It also improved visual quality of the synthesized virtual views by removing the boundary noise.

Automated road map generation poses significant research challenges since GPS-based navigation systems prevail in most general vehicles. This paper proposes an automated detecting method for intersection points using GPS vehicle trajectory data without any background digital map information. The proposed method exploits the fact that the trajectories are generally split into several branches at an intersection point. One problem in previous work on this intersection detecting is that those approaches require stopping points and direction changes for every testing vehicle. However our approach does not require such complex auxiliary information for intersection detecting. Our method is based on partial trajectory matching among trajectories since a set of incoming trajectories split other trajectory cluster branches at the intersection point. We tested our method on a real GPS data set with 1266 vehicles in Gangnam District, Seoul. Our experiment showed that the proposed method works well at some bigger intersection points in Gangnam. Our system scored 75% sensitivity and 78% specificity according to the test data. We believe that more GPS trajectory data would make our system more reliable and applicable in a practice.

In the recent mobile communication systems, the performance of Turbo Code using the error correction coding depends on the interleaver influencing the free distance determination and the recursive decoding algorithms that is executed in the turbo decoder. However, performance depends on the interleaver depth that need great many delay over the reception process. Moreover, Turbo Code has been known as the robust coding methods with the confidence over the fading channel. The International Telecommunication Union(ITU) has recently adopted as the standardization of the channel coding over the third generation mobile communications the same as IMT-2000. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed of that has the better performance than existing Turbo Decoder that has the parallel concatenated four-step structure using MAP algorithm. In the real-time voice and video service over the third generation mobile communications, the performance of the proposed method was analyzed by the reduced decoding delay using the variable decoding method by computer simulation over AWGN and lading channels.

In this paper we propose a method that can generate the risk probability map in the form of raster shape by using Markov Chain methodology applied to the object interpretation keys and quantified risk indexes. These object interpretation keys, which are primarily characteristics that can be identified by the naked eye, are set based on the objects that comprise the spatial information of a certain urban area. Each key is divided into a cell, and then is weighted by its own risk index. These keys in turn are used to generate the unified risk probability map using various levels of crime prediction probability maps. The risk probability map may vary over time and means of applying different sets of object interpretation keys. Therefore, this method can be used to prevent crimes by providing the ways of setting up the best possible police patrol beat as well as the optimal arrangement of surveillance equipments.
A depth image-based rendering (DIBR) technique is one of the rendering processes of virtual views with a color image and the corresponding depth map. The most important issue of DIBR is that the virtual view has no information at newly exposed areas, so called dis-occlusion. In this paper, we propose an intermediate view generation algorithm using the Kinect depth camera that utilizes the infrared structured light. After we capture a color image and its corresponding depth map, we pre-process the depth map. The pre-processed depth map is warped to the virtual viewpoint and filtered by median filtering to reduce the truncation error. Then, the color image is back-projected to the virtual viewpoint using the warped depth map. In order to fill out the remaining holes caused by dis-occlusion, we perform a background-based image in-painting operation. Finally, we obtain the synthesized image without any dis-occlusion. From experimental results, we have shown that the proposed algorithm generated very natural images in real-time.
Due to increasing impervious surfaces resulting from urbanization and industrialization which are directly linked to urban inundation and non-point pollutants runoff, there is a need to manage them systematically. A management over urban impervious surfaces calls for pervious/impervious maps, which enable viewing the distribution of impervious surfaces. Nevertheless, relevant data are absent as now. In this respect, despite the diversity of proposed methods, pilot implementation and accuracy verification have never been conducted. Therefore, this study is aimed to produce a pilot pervious/impervious map based on previously proposed methods and to elucidate its pros and cons with a view to proposing a method for producing a GIS-based optimal pervious/impervious map. Following previously proposed methods, a pervious/impervious map of Bupyeong-gu, Incheon was produced. Then, a method of producing optimal pervious/impervious maps applicable to urban areas was proposed through the comparison of pros and cons of relevant spatial data. As a result, the map had been confirmed 99.2% of classification accuracy. Based on the present findings, future studies should establish a standardized method for producing. Also, this method should be used to produce pervious/impervious maps of other regions so that it can be applied to managing impervious surfaces in major urban areas nationwide.

Recently, much demand of vector data have increased rapidly such as a digital map instead of traditional a paper map and the raster data such as a high-resolution orthoimage have been used for many GIS application with the advent of industrial high-resolution satellites and development of aerial optical sensor technologies. Aerial photogrammetric technologies using an airship can offer cost-effective and high-resolution color images as well as real time images, different from conventional remote sensing measurements. Also, it can acquire images easily and its processing procedure is short and simple relatively. On the other hand, it has often been used for the production of a small-scale land use map not required high accuracy, monitoring of linear infrastructure features through mosaicking strip images and construction of GIS data. Through this study, the developed aerial photogrammetric system using the airship expects to be applied to not only producing of scale 1:5, 000 digital map but also verifying, editing, and updating the digital map which was need to be reproduced. Further more, providing the various type of video-images, it expects to use many other GIS applications such as facilities management, scenery management and construction of GIS data for Urban area.

In monocular images that are used to determine the depth of the vanishing point, the buildings, roads and buildings, such as outdoor video or hallway with room inside for the interior structure, such as the vanishing point in the video is a very strong depth cue. Depth map using the vanishing point in the three-dimensional space, the two-dimensional imaging is used to restore the structure. But if there is a vanishing point vanishing point in the video also depends on the location of the relative depth of different ways to express that need. In this paper we present images of a vanishing point with respect to the improved depth-map was created. Proposed an area where the loss of seven points and areas defined as areas along the proposed direction of different depth.
By blocking irradiance, shadows cast by high-rise buildings in urban areas can reduce the power generation efficiency of PV panels installed on low-rise buildings. As the conventionally installed PV panel is not suitable for the urban environment, which is unfavorable for power generating, a more radical solution is required. This study aims to help solve this problem by estimating the optimal PV panel angle. Using the proposed method, the optimal PV angle was calculated by considering shadows that could be cast by nearby buildings throughout the year, and the correlation between solar shading and elevation angle was discovered based on the calculated data.
