  • Dimension and tolerance are very important factors both in a design stage and in a manufacturing stage. As a part of process planning, the tolerance transfer aims at determining the method for converting design dimensions and tolerances into manufacturing dimensions and tolerances based on a given drawing. A procedure for the tolerance transfer is proposed in this paper. Tolerance chart is a valuable graphical tool for a process planner to determine the manufacturing dimensions and tolerances, and consisted of several steps. Among several steps necessary for making up the tolerance chart, the methods for the identification of dimension chain, the determination of tolerances, and the calculation of operational dimensions are presented by using concepts and new presentation methods. A solution method for each step is derived which will be used to establish the tolerance transfer techniques.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate quality of recycled fine aggregate manufactured by drying manufacturing system which is the manufacture method of high quality recycled fine aggregate, and to analyze on the fresh, hardened and durability properties of recycled concrete using it. Therefore it is to present the fundamental data for structural application of recycled concrete. The results of this study are as follows; Quality of recycled fine aggregate by drying manufacturing system is improved, and compressive and tensile strength of recycled concrete using high quality recycled fine aggregate are similar to those of normal concrete. But, durability such as carbonation, salt damage and dry shrinkage show decreased somewhat.

  • Simulation is generally used for the performance analysis and optimization of manufacturing systems. Therefore in this paper using the simulation techniques we obtain the information about the efficiency improvement and the optimization. Because simulation optimization method is subjected to the applied field and environment the general simulation optimization method does not exist. So we do not take the fixed optimization procedure but suggest the alternative one which is modified for applied field. This procedure supplies the optimized simulation information and helps improve the productivity of Geared-Motor assembly line. In order to optimize the manufacturing system we use two simulation languages, FACTOR/AIM and SLAMSYSTEM. The former gives the abundant output information. The latter gives the flexibility in simulation modeling.

  • The objective of ECMS(Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing Systems) is to consider environmental effects through the entire product life cycle from product development stage to design, manufacturing, supplying, using and disposing stage. Recently, environment-oriented recycling, reusing and manufacturing technologies have been researched actively in every engineering fields. In the field of chemical engineering, HHS(Health Hazard Scores) which classifies and analyzes hazardous materials in production processes has been presented. Metal cutting processes also have a lot of harmful factors, and especially hazardous components in cutting fluids have been known to have a bad effect on workers and working area. However, research works such as HHS have been little accomplished in metal cutting processes. In this research, a environmentally conscious machining process is presented by classifying hazardous components in cutting fluids, by using LCA(Life Cycle Assessments) and HHS method, and by evaluating environmental effects from cutting fluids.

  • Demands for micro parts have increased with recent advances in IT and machinery industries. However, the present technology loaves much to be desired to effectively produce parts with the volume of $1mm^{3}$ and less by mechanical method in large quantities. This paper provides a method for efficient quantity production of complete micro 3D structure using micro end-milling cutting process. The possibility has proven via manufacturing experiment of a multistage micro complex gear structure of $500{\mu}m$ in length, $500{\mu}m$ in maximum external diameter and a volume of $1mm^{3}$ and less.

H-infinity Discrete Time Fuzzy Controller Design Based on Bilinear Matrix Inequality

  • This paper presents an $H_{\infty}$ controller synthesis method for discrete time fuzzy dynamic systems based on a piecewise smooth Lyapunov function. The basic idea of the proposed approach is to construct controllers for the fuzzy dynamic systems in such a way that a Piecewise smooth Lyapunov function can be used to establish the global stability with $H_{\infty}$ performance of the resulting closed loop fuzzy control systems. It is shown that the control laws can be obtained by solving a set of Bilinear Matrix Inequalities (BMIs). An example is given to illustrate the application of the proposed method.

  • Recently, the variation of industry has been changed faster and faster than before. It is using Rapid Prototyping Method to cope with fast change. This technology used to make a prototype, master pattern of manufactured product by vacuum casting, and so on. But this method has errors by contraction as a necessity. this error has been caused because the shape of prototype is smaller than CAD data. So we must solve the problem about precision of product. Therefore in this study, we will reduce the errors like contraction of material by manufacturing of rapid prototype product. Through these courses, we will enhance a precision of product.

  • Fractal manufacturing system (FrMS) distinguishes itself from other manufacturing systems by the fact that there is a fractal repeated at every scale. A fractal is a volatile organization which consists of goal-oriented agents referred to as AIR-units (autonomous and intelligent resource units). AIR-units unrestrictedly reconfigure fractals in accordance with their own goals. Their goals can be dynamically changed along with the environmental status. Since goals of AIR-units are represented as fuzzy models, an AIR-unit itself is a fuzzy logic controller. This paper presents a goal regulation mechanism in the FrMS. In particular, a reinforcement learning method is adopted as a regulating mechanism of the fuzzy goal model, which uses only weak reinforcement signal. Goal regulation is achieved by building a feedforward neural network to estimate compatibility level of current goals, which can then adaptively improve compatibility by using the gradient descent method. Goal-oriented features of AIR-units are also presented.

  • Recently, with a great interest in micromachine, it is more and more important to promote the way of manufacturing micromachine. The silicon process or the LIGA process was the main method to manufacture micromachine in the past. But, these manufacturing method was 2.5-dimensinal, there was the limit in manufacturing perfect 3-dimensional structure micromachine. In this study, we developed the rapid prototyping system for micromachining and tested its property. We also realized .mu. m-order manu- facturing and 3-dimensional structure processing. The results showed the possibility of micromachining with the rapid prototyping system.

  • This study is described the modeling of aspheric lens, manufacturing and inspection. The aspheric lens is different from a convex lens and concave lens in that is useful to aspherical, but modeling mettled of this isn't open to the public. Therefore, This study is designed to the aspheric lens of geometric form, manufactured a sample by CAM which is applied to Euler method. So, we have verified modeling and CAM process for aspheric lens through a experiment.
