Background and Objectives: Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) evaluation of coronary artery morphology is based on the lumen and vessel segmentation. This study aimed to develop an automatic segmentation algorithm and validate the performances for measuring quantitative IVUS parameters. Methods: A total of 1,063 patients were randomly assigned, with a ratio of 4:1 to the training and test sets. The independent data set of 111 IVUS pullbacks was obtained to assess the vessel-level performance. The lumen and external elastic membrane (EEM) boundaries were labeled manually in every IVUS frame with a 0.2-mm interval. The Efficient-UNet was utilized for the automatic segmentation of IVUS images. Results: At the frame-level, Efficient-UNet showed a high dice similarity coefficient (DSC, 0.93±0.05) and Jaccard index (JI, 0.87±0.08) for lumen segmentation, and demonstrated a high DSC (0.97±0.03) and JI (0.94±0.04) for EEM segmentation. At the vessel-level, there were close correlations between model-derived vs. experts-measured IVUS parameters; minimal lumen image area (r=0.92), EEM area (r=0.88), lumen volume (r=0.99) and plaque volume (r=0.95). The agreement between model-derived vs. expert-measured minimal lumen area was similarly excellent compared to the experts' agreement. The model-based lumen and EEM segmentation for a 20-mm lesion segment required 13.2 seconds, whereas manual segmentation with a 0.2-mm interval by an expert took 187.5 minutes on average. Conclusions: The deep learning models can accurately and quickly delineate vascular geometry. The artificial intelligence-based methodology may support clinicians' decision-making by real-time application in the catheterization laboratory.

In this paper, we present a novel integrated cell processor to handle individual embryos. Its functions are composed of transporting, isolation, orientation, and immobilization of cells. These functions are essential for biomanipulation of single cells, and have been typically carried out by a proficient operator. The purpose of this study is the automation of these functions for safe and effective cell manipulation using a MEMS based cell processor. This device is realized with a relatively simple design and fabrication process. Experimental results indicate that it can act as an efficient substitute for essential but very tiresome and repetitive manual work while contributing significantly to the improvement of speed and success rate of operation by facilitating cell manipulation. The cell viability test for the device is studied through the distribution of mitochondria in mice embryos and cultivation of cells for 86h.
Beef carcasses were examined to explore the effects of spinal cord removal and washing on central nervous system tissue (CNST) decontamination of the surface during the slaughtering process. A total of 15 carcasses were split by sawing centrally down the vertebral column and left sides of split carcasses were used for analysis. Samples were collected by swabbing the surface from 4 defined parts on the interior and 4 on the exterior of carcasses from the abattoir and analyzed using an ELISA-based test. The results showed that automatic and manual spray washing decreased CNST contamination, especially on the interior ventral parts of carcass surfaces (p<0.01), but did not decrease CNST on the interior dorsal parts. Increasing washing time to 60 s did not affect the reduction of CNST contamination. Samples following spinal cord removal prior to splitting showed lower calculated levels of "risk material" than the stated limit of detection (0.1%) of the ELISA kit on interior and exterior carcass parts (p<0.01). Therefore, spinal cord removal prior to splitting could be a very effective way to minimize CNST contamination of beef carcasses.
The objective of this study was to make comparison of the physical work capacities(PWCs) for three different types of tasks. For this purpose, an ergometer exercise, a treadmill exercise, and lifting activities with four different frequencies (2, 5, 8, 11 lifts/min) for the lifting range from floor to 76cm were considered. Oxygen consumption rates and heart rates were measured during the exercises and lifting activities. The PWC values for ergometer exercise test was $2562.71ml-O_2/min$ and the one for treadmill exercise was $2874.89ml-O_2/min$. The value of lifting PWC increased from $1774.07ml-O_2/min$ to $2296.76ml-O_2/min$ as the lifting frequency increased from 2 to 11 lifts/min. The ratio of the lifting PWCs to the ergometer PWC increased from 69.36% to 89.77% as the lifting frequency increased. To the treadmill PWC, the ratio increased from 62.21% to 85.24% as the lifting frequency increased. From this result, it appears that the PWCs based on the lifting tasks rather than PWCs by ergometer or treadmill exercise should be considered to determine the physiological criterion for safe weights for lifting tasks. Therefore, the physiological criteria of the NIOSH Guideline should be reexamined.
For the safety of sea, it is important to monitor sea fog, one of the dangerous meteorological phenomena which cause marine accidents. To detect and monitor sea fog, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data which is capable to provide spatial distribution of sea fog has been used. The previous automatic sea fog detection algorithms were focused on detecting sea fog using Terra/MODIS only. The improved algorithm is based on the sea fog detection algorithm by Wu and Li (2014) and it is applicable to both Terra and Aqua MODIS data. We have focused on detecting spring season sea fog events in the Yellow Sea. The algorithm includes application of cloud mask product, the Normalized Difference Snow Index (NDSI), the STandard Deviation test using infrared channel ($STD_{IR}$) with various window size, Temperature Difference Index(TDI) in the algorithm (BTCT - SST) and Normalized Water Vapor Index (NWVI). Through the calculation of the Hanssen-Kuiper Skill Score (KSS) using sea fog manual detection result, we derived more suitable threshold for each index. The adjusted threshold is expected to bring higher accuracy of sea fog detection for spring season daytime sea fog detection using MODIS in the Yellow Sea.

In order to solve the difficulties of parameter settings in SA algorithm, an improved practical SA algorithm is proposed by employing the threading techniques, appropriate software structures, and dynamic adjustments of temperature parameters. Threads provide a mechanism to realize a parallel processing under a disperse environment by controlling the flux of internal information of an application. Thread services divide a process by multiple processes leading to parallel processing of information to access common data. Therefore, efficient search is achieved by multiple search processes, different initial conditions, and automatic temperature adjustments. The proposed are methods are evaluated, for three types of Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) (random-tour, fractal-tour, and TSPLIB test data)are used for the performance evaluation. The experimental results show that the computational time is 5% decreased comparing to conventional SA algorithm, furthermore there is no need for manual parameter settings. These results also demonstrate that the proposed method is applicable to real-world vehicle routing problems.
Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of a Korean medicine treatment on a traumatic spinal cord injury. Metohds : A 44-year-old male patient who had suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury was treated for two months. The effectiveness of complex Korean medicine treatments was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and the Manual Muscle Test (MMT). Result : We found that the NRS of pain caused by numbness was decreased from 7 to 0-1, and the overall motor measured by the MMT was also improved. The patient's walking state was changed from wheelchair ambulation to walker ambulation. Conclusion : Based on this finding, complex Korean medicine treatments may be effective in treating patients' pain, controlling paresthesia, and aiding the recovery function of activities in daily living. However, because of the limitation of our study, further high-quality research should be conducted.
Purpose - This research was to help distribution of Go Bags (Survival Bag or Disaster Supplies Kit), which are useful for disaster preparedness, by surveying precomposed Go Bag items in internet shopping malls. Research design, data, and methodology - We checked 15 items including food, water, first aid kit, radio, flashlight or candles, battery, lighter or matches, whistle, blanket, towel, toilet paper, personal sanitations, raincoat, can opener, disaster manual in Go Bags based on the recommendations by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The number of items and price, domestic product, accreditation were compared using a Chi-square test. The Pearson's R was also used to summarize the strength of the linear relationship between the number of items and price, sub-items. Results - Mean of the sub-items was 21, and mean of the items was 8. There was a statistically significant difference between the number of items size and the price level (p=.014). There was also a statistically significant difference between the number of items and sub-items (p<.001), and correlation coefficient was a positive linear relationship of .467. Conclusions - Only eight were sold in the internet shopping malls as a precomposed Go Bag items. Even the approved Go Bags had no difference in the number of items. Higher prices had a relatively greater number of items, and it had a positive correlation between the size of sub-items and items.
This paper presents a novel Intelligent-Welding-Carriage (IWC) for automation of curved block in shipbuilding. The curved block is usually used in both front and back side of the ship. In curved block root gap is big, $1{\sim}7$ [mm] and inclination, $0{\sim}30$ [deg]. Since available conventional carriage type is limited to use below root gap of 3 [mm], only manual welding is employed in curved block. To adopt an IWC in curved block, it requires control of the welding conditions, i.e., voltage, current and travel speed, with respect to root gap and inclination to achieve good welding quality. In this paper, an IWC is developed for automization of welding operation to accommodate gap and inclination. Kinematics model and dynamics using Lagrangian formulation of the manipulator is introduced. IWC utilizes a database to perform accurate welding. The database is programmed based on numerous experimental test results with respect to gap, inclination, material, travel speed, weaving condition, voltage, and current. Finally, experimental result using PID control is addressed for verify the trajectory tracking accuracy of end-effector.

During construction of a sea-crossing bridge grouting was used to fill densely the space between the bottom of caisson and the ground. This grout mixture was mixed with an anti-washout admixture after locating accurately the pre-cast caisson on three concrete landing pads. This method differs significantly from the costly conventional method, for bridge foundations offshore, where concrete is placed in situ after excavating inside of a temporary concrete coffering wall. To verify the grouting method in advance, the full-scale field tests were performed twice on land. After identifying the fluidity of the grout material to be filled, finding some possible problems with the main construction and revising the original design, the main construction has been continuing successfully with 20 caissons completed to date. The purpose of this paper is to introduce for the first time in Korea the grouting method including the automatic and the manual monitoring system based on the main construction of the caisson foundation.
