  • Information extraction is a process of recognizing and fetching particular information fragments from a document. In order to extract information uniformly from many heterogeneous information sources, it is necessary to produce information extraction rules called a wrapper for each source. Previous methods of information extraction can be categorized into manual wrapper generation and automatic wrapper generation. In the manual method, since the wrapper is manually generated by a human expert who analyzes documents and writes rules, the precision of the wrapper is very high whereas it reveals problems in scalability and efficiency In the automatic method, the agent program analyzes a set of example documents and produces a wrapper through learning. Although it is very scalable, this method has difficulty in generating correct rules per se, and also the generated rules are sometimes unreliable. This paper tries to combine both manual and automatic methods by proposing a new method of learning information extraction rules. We adopt the scheme of supervised learning in which a user-interface agent is designed to get information from the user regarding what to extract from a document, and eventually XML-based information extraction rules are generated through learning according to these inputs. The interface agent is used not only to generate new extraction rules but also to modify and extend existing ones to enhance the precision and the recall measures of the extraction system. We have done a series of experiments to test the system, and the results are very promising. We hope that our system can be applied to practical systems such as information-mediator agents.

  • Objective: T1 mapping provides valuable information regarding cardiomyopathies. Manual drawing is time consuming and prone to subjective errors. Therefore, this study aimed to test a DL algorithm for the automated measurement of native T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) fractions in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging with a temporally separated dataset. Materials and Methods: CMR images obtained for 95 participants (mean age ± standard deviation, 54.5 ± 15.2 years), including 36 left ventricular hypertrophy (12 hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, 12 Fabry disease, and 12 amyloidosis), 32 dilated cardiomyopathy, and 27 healthy volunteers, were included. A commercial deep learning (DL) algorithm based on 2D U-net (Myomics-T1 software, version 1.0.0) was used for the automated analysis of T1 maps. Four radiologists, as study readers, performed manual analysis. The reference standard was the consensus result of the manual analysis by two additional expert readers. The segmentation performance of the DL algorithm and the correlation and agreement between the automated measurement and the reference standard were assessed. Interobserver agreement among the four radiologists was analyzed. Results: DL successfully segmented the myocardium in 99.3% of slices in the native T1 map and 89.8% of slices in the post-T1 map with Dice similarity coefficients of 0.86 ± 0.05 and 0.74 ± 0.17, respectively. Native T1 and ECV showed strong correlation and agreement between DL and the reference: for T1, r = 0.967 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.951-0.978) and bias of 9.5 msec (95% limits of agreement [LOA], -23.6-42.6 msec); for ECV, r = 0.987 (95% CI, 0.980-0.991) and bias of 0.7% (95% LOA, -2.8%-4.2%) on per-subject basis. Agreements between DL and each of the four radiologists were excellent (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC] of 0.98-0.99 for both native T1 and ECV), comparable to the pairwise agreement between the radiologists (ICC of 0.97-1.00 and 0.99-1.00 for native T1 and ECV, respectively). Conclusion: The DL algorithm allowed automated T1 and ECV measurements comparable to those of radiologists.

  • BIM facilitates data transparency and consistency through three-dimensional parametric modeling and promotes the accurate managing and sharing of project information. In Korea, however, BIM-based detailed design of architectural interior finishes required during the Construction Documents phase increases the burden on architectural firms due to frequent design changes and manual workload. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to establish rule-based modules using parametric modeling that automates repetitive tasks that occur during the detailed design of interior finishing. Interviews with practitioners were conducted to analyze the major finishing elements. Of these floors, walls, and ceilings, which were the most rudimentary and common items, were selected as the subjects of the study. The modules developed in this study have two functions. One is to create new finish types, and the other is the automatic modeling of new types into rooms. For these functions, parameters that belonged to each finish and room element in a BIM model were analyzed and valid parameters directly used for parametric modeling were derived. Then, based on these parameters, rule-based modules for three elements, I.e., floors, walls, and ceilings were constructed with Revit Dynamo, and the effectiveness of the modules was verified with a pilot test. In conclusion, this study suggested a series of processes for automatic finishing to improve the efficiency of BIM-based architectural detailed design of finishes and to contribute in solving the chronic problems occuring during current design processes.

  • Age related decrease of muscle strength, balance, and gait abilities bring about physical inactivity in the elderly. Virtual reality (VR) training has been used successfully to rehabilitate functional balance and mobility in elderly subjects. This study was aimed at determining the effect of VR-based exercise programs by using a video game on the muscle strength, balance, and gait abilities in the elderly. 48 old people were randomly divided into two groups; VR-group (men: 11, women: 14, age: 68.42yrs) and control group (men: 10, women: 13, age: 67.58yrs). VR-group performed an exercise program twice a week for 8 weeks and control group had no intervention. The VR-based exercise program was composed of warm up(10 mins), VR-program(40 mins), and cool down(10mins). It was performed by playstation eyetoy play that provided visual and auditory feedback as well as movements of the upper and lower extremities. Muscle strengths of the knee and ankle were measured using manual muscle tester. Static balance was estimated using computerized posturography. Dynamic balance was measured by Timed up and go test (TUG), Functional reach test (FRT). 10m walk test and 6-min walk test were used to assess gait abilities. After the completion of the VR-exercise program, muscle strength, balance, and gait abilities were improved significantly (p<0.05). In conclusion, the VR-based exercise program showed improvement on the muscle strength, balance, and gait ability in the elderly. This exercise program is both effective and interesting for this age group.

  • We present a kevlar rope based Non-Explosive Actuator(NEA) device which has simple structure and is activated by burning Ni-Cr wire. Through performance test, we find it can be operated under various pre-load by simply changing turn number of Ni-Cr wire. It shows release time of 680ms and shock level of 110G under pre-load of 6.0kN. Launching environment and space environment tests are planned to verify performance of the NEA based on European Satellite Agency test manual. Conclusively, we expect the proposed NEA can be applicable to release solar panel and fairing separation.

  • Dissolution test has been performed to control drug quality and to predict in vivo drug release profile of solid dosage forms, so there's a drift towards setting dissolution test instead of disintegration test. However, some solid dosage forms in Korea Pharmaceutical Codex (KPC) are not established the dissolution test yet, so these monographs are necessary to set the specification of dissolution test. In this study, we developed the specification and test method of dissolution test for itopride hydrochloride tablets and tiropramide hydrochloride tablets which are not established the dissolution test yet. According to the "Manual for Guideline Application for Validation of Analytical Procedures" and "Guidelines on Specification of Dissolution test for Oral dosage form" of Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP), we validated and established each development method. Based on the preliminary dissolution profile, we set the dissolution condition(paddle apparatus, pH 1.2 media, 50 rpm). For this condition, we performed the main dissolution test to determine the specification (45 min, 85%). Finally, we validated each analytical method by specificity, linearity, accuracy and precision. These developed methods will be included the next supplement of KPC and also contributed to the quality control of medicines.

  • Nowadays, one of the most interested area of automobile industry is the production of vehicle which has collision safety and ability to produce less amount of $CO_2$. The achievement of such a dual performance is done by choosing the materials like dual phase steel, ferrite bainite steel, etc. These steels have been used in automotive chassis and body parts, and also used to be formed by hole flanging to meet the goal of strength and design requirement. The formability of sheet material was experimented by hole expansion test and the judgement relies on human eye and his experience. This manual judgement involves many errors and large deviation. This paper develops the automatic crack recognition system which finds a crack based on CCD image to complement the problem of the current method depending on human's sense.

  • Real scale fire tests was carried out for extinguishing performance evaluation of the wetting agent. The experiment was conducted in accordance with a Class A fire extinguishing test methods specified in the 'Type Approval of the Manual System Fire Extinguisher and Technical Standards of Test'. In addition, the subjects of this experiment were the wood flour and rice husk. Fire-fighting water, the three kinds of wetting agents used in the country and this study was used, was undertaken to determine a clear discrimination of the water and wetting agent. In the experimental results, it was confirmed that the internal temperature is maintained long time in the case of water. The internal temperature were rapidly lowered in the experiment of wetting agents. Therefore, the discrimination of extinguishing ability was confirmed by the temperature distribution in accordance with time. Based on the results of this experiment, this study is expected to be used as a underlying material on presenting a method of optimized performance evaluation of wetting extinguishing agent.
