  • In this paper, we discuss issues related with conceptual definition and measurement of financial management behavior. Specifically, we examine the relationships among the management behavior relating to throughput, inputs, and outputs, based on the financial management systems model. Fer the analysis, we have reviewed articles that dealt with financial management behavior utilizing financial management systems model. The articles we reviewed appeared between the year 1986 to 2000, in four journals published in Korea (Journal of Korean Home Economics Association, Journal of Korean Home Management Association, Journal of Consumer Studies, and Journal of Korean Family Resource Management) as well as five home economics journals published in the U.S. The implications for the future research of financial management are also Presented.

  • Though many researchers have interested in the effects of creativity management on the business performance, few have researched the relationship between management execution systems for creativity management and the performance. This paper tried to identify the relationship between management execution systems for creativity management and the performance by using 181 Korean companies' survey data. In this paper, a creative management execution system is modelled by the six criteria that are widely used in the Malcolmn Baldrige National Quality Award, and the performance is measured by a composite variable called by business capability. Through an analysis of survey data using factor analysis and regression analysis, this paper tried to answer two research questions: Firstly, does creative management execution systems have the characteristics of multi-dimensionality? Secondly, does creative management execution systems have an impact on the firm's performance? It was found that a creative management execution system largely consists of two parts, which are called 'system factor' and 'management support factor', and system factors have a more strong impact on the performance. The contribution of this paper is in suggesting that establishing a systematic creative management execution system is required in order to efficiently manage for creativity.

  • The size of the market for SCM information systems have globally and steadily increased. And there are businesses that obtained innovative business performance by introducing SCM information systems. However, many businesses have still undergone trial and error in the process to introduce and operate SCM. As external factors including suppliers, customers, etc. and internal factors of businesses have been analyzed to be failure factors of executing SCM information systems, the businesses that try to introduce SCM information systems need to understand possible failure factors and establish the solutions. Therefore, this study tries to verify the diffusion of SCM information systems and effects on bullwhip effects. The study is expected to suggest empirical data that people will refer to the establishment of next counterstrategies according to the lapse of the period that systems are introduced based on theoretical bases related to the diffusion of SCM information systems.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate the spread pattern of Korean legal certification systems and their impact on industry performance. Methods: It first analyzes the life cycle of legal certification systems and classifies them into four categories based on the spread patterns in a chronological view. A survey study is then conducted to find out the impact of legal certification systems on financial performance. Both the legal mandatory certification systems and the legal voluntary certification systems are included in the survey. Results: Four spread patterns of legal certification systems are sustainable growth, stagnation after growth, decrease after growth, and repetition of growth and declination. 56% of 293 certified corporations responded positively about the financial impact of their certification systems. Conclusion: The policy makers can utilize the results of this study in designing additional certification systems as well as promoting the current legal certification systems.

  • Today, the importance of test and evaluation of defense systems is increasing day by day. In performing efficient defense systems test works, process improvement based on quantitative management is essential. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of process improvement for the defense systems test works of the test organization based on quantitative management activities. As a methodology to confirm process improvement performance, the 'MPM(Managing Performance and Measurement)' practice area of the CMMI model was applied. The quantitative management model for defense systems test works was developed so that it could be practically applied not only to the entire test organization but also to the organization at the department level that actually performs the test work. Finally, the application cases of the quantitative management model for defense system test works and the results of process improvement were described.

  • In the current RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) middleware systems based on the EPCglobal standard, the tag data received by multiple readers are processed sequentially in FIFO (First In First Out) order. Considering the priority of RFID reader makes the RFID system more flexible and improve the data transaction throughput in the service environment where important tag data with high priority for a specific reader. In this study, we propose a new RFID middleware system architecture supporting priority service with the Buffer Management Component. Our proposals are compliant with the EPCglobal ALE (Application Level Events) standard interface for middleware systems and their clients. To verify the efficiency of this proposed system, simulation is used for evaluation.

  • Systems Engineering application focused on requirement definition and management for SURION System Development Project is described in this paper. To perform the development process effectively based on systems engineering processes; Requirements Definition, Design Review, Configuration Management, Quality Assurance, Data Management, are applied in this project. In this processes, the Stakeholder's Requirements are transferred to Specifications verified with design reviews, prototyping inspections, and integration tests. All engineering data, especially verification plan & results are recorded, and traced to each requirements of system specification in Surion database. Therefore, it could be assured that all requirements of specification are evaluated and verified successfully in Surion Project.
