시뮬레이션 기법의 성공적인 적용을 위한 실무 가이드라인 (Practical Guidelines for Successful Application of Simulation Technologies)

  • Computer simulation is widely known as a very powerful and practical tool to understand behaviors of considered systems and evaluate design alternatives. However, to use simulation technologies, one should acquire simulation languages, statistics, etc. Also, lots of resources such as time and money are necessary to develop models and analyze statistical data. These obstacles prevent one from adopting simulation tools easily. This paper presents practical guidelines for successful application of simulation. Firstly, we propose how to acquire simulation tools to help one who is going to use simulation techniques. Next guidelines are for introducing simulation software set including simulation and support softwares. Lastly, guidelines for simulation project management are presented.

GK-DEVS의 실시간 시각 시뮬레이션을 위한 외곽공간의 관리 (Bounding Space Management for Real-time Visual Simulation of GK-DEVS)

  • This paper presents bounding space(BS) management for real-time visual simulation when using GK-DEVS models. Since GK-DEVS, extended from DEVS formalism, has information of 3D geometry and 3D hierarchical structure, we employs three types of bounding spaces: BS of its own shape, BS of its children GK-DEVS, and total BS. In addition to next-event scheduling functionality of previous GK-Simulator, its abstract simulation algorithms is extended to manage the three types of BSs so that BSs can be utilized in the rendering process of a renderer, so called GK-Renderer, We have implemented the method and evaluated it with an automated manufacturing system. In the case study, the proposed BSs management method showed about 2 times improvement in terms of rendering process speed.

  • Simulation is one of the most widely used techniques in operations research and management science, and by all indications its popularity is on the increase. There have been several impediments to its even wider acceptance and usefulness. This paper presents a simulation study for evaluating lane operation and determining parking space for customers in a supermarket using a SLAM network simulation model. The results for the simulation are analyzed using statistical methods.

  • Simulation은 진실로 대단히 편리한 도구이다. 그러나 절대로 이것이 "만병통치"는 되지못한다. Simulation은 원래 통계학적인 근사치를 구하는 방법이고 적정정책이 직접적인 해로 나오는 것이 아니라 단지 몇개의 대안을 비교하는 데 그친다. 또한 Simulation이란 어디까지나 계량적인 기법이기 때문에 모든것이 수치로 나타나고, 숫자로 나타나지 않는 인과관계나, 또는 modeling단계에서 빠뜨린 부분에 대한 영향은 알 수가 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고 Simulation는 운영연구에 있어서 대단히 편리한 도구이고 다른 방법으로 해결할 수가 없는 많은 운영문제에 있어, 없어서는 안될 중요한 기법이다. 중요한 기법이다.

  • The cell loss probability recommended in the B-ISDN is in the range of 10$^{-8}$ ~ 10$^{-12}$ . When a simulation technique is used to analyze the performance of the ATM switching system, an enormous amount of computer time is required. In this study, we derive an importance sampling simulation technique that can be used to evaluate the loss probability obtained by the importance sampling simulation is very close to that obtained by the ordinary simulation and the computer time can be reduced drastically by the importance sampling simulation.

  • A computer method is developed for group technology layout and its simulation analysis. The method is composed of three phases: Phase I sorts the parts by its similar production routes and forms part families. Phase II plots the layout by machine cell and evaluates the group layout alternatives by the total process time analysis and the part travel distance evaluation analysis. Phase III also evaluates the alternatives by simulation analysis using SIMAN simulation software. All the computer programs are developed with BASIC except SIMAN simulation.

  • Considering the supply system and operating cost of enterprises which are in the supply chain as the main index, this paper establishes a supply chain evaluation model, and utilizes Arena building stimulation model of the supply chain which considers manufacturing enterprises as the core of supply chain. This model designs a generic simulation model of the supply chain including multi-level distributors and suppliers. And the model analyzes a representative example of business process, one of the enterprises in Shandong.

  • 그리드 컴퓨팅 환경에서 자원 관리는 이기종의 자원들 사이에서 통합과 상호작용을 위해 필수적이다. 이 논문은 자원관리의 복잡한 문제들을 해결하기 위해 집중화된 브로커 기반과 분산화된 브로커 기반 모델링의 자원 관리 기법을 논하고 그리드 컴퓨팅 환경에서 분산화된 브로커 기반 자원 관리 모델링의 설계와 구현을 표현한다. 이 모델은 글로벌 자원 브로커와 로컬 자원 브로커로 이루어지고 우리는 통신의 감소와 로컬 자원 브로커를 사용한 작업 관리의 기능적인 분산을 이끌어낸다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 자원 활용도와 평균 응답 시간의 향상을 보여주고 이 모델이 사용자 요구에 즉각 응답하고 자원의 활용도를 향상시킨다는 것을 증명한다.

  • To manage a cluster of distributed server systems, a number of management aspects should be considered in terms of configuration management, fault management, performance management, and user management. System performance monitoring and reporting take an important role for performance and fault management. In this paper, we present distributed system architecture modeling of a performance monitoring and reporting tool. Modeling architecture of four subsystems are introduced: node agent, data collection, performance management & report, and DB schema. The performance-related information collected from distributed servers are categorized into performance counters, event data for system status changes, service quality, and system configuration data. In order to analyze those performance information, we use a number of ways to evaluate data corelation. By using some results from a real site of a company and from simulation of artificial workload, we show the example of performance collection and analysis. Since our report tool detects system fault or node component failure and analyzes performances through resource usage and service quality, we are able to provide information for server load balancing, in short term view, and the cause of system faults and decision for system scale-out and scale-up, in long term view.
