The purpose of this study was to explore the psychosocial characteristics of academically maladjusted students and the College's current status regarding academic maladjustment based on 4-year medical student cohort data collected from 2018 to 2021 and through interviews with 10 medical education experts using the integrated research method. This study included 223 students who consented to inclusion in the student cohort and participated in the emotional behavior test and college adaptability test of whom 65 students experienced academic maladjustment. Academically maladjusted students had significantly higher scores for social stress, anxiety, sense of inadequacy, attention, hyperactivity, and school maladjustment, and significantly lower scores for relationships with parents, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-strength. Academic and social integrity, emotional stability, university satisfaction, and university service satisfaction were all significantly lower in the academically maladjusted students than in the non-maladjusted group. The expert interviews indicated that academic maladjustment was mainly recognized as a personal problem, with causes such as lack of motivation and learning methods, vulnerability to stress, lack of social relationships and alienation, lack of support from the family, and insufficient resilience. Systematic support other than counseling for academically maladjusted students is required, and an early diagnosis and preventive intervention are important.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of the Peer Relationship Program on the school adjustment of Ha-nul with the school maladjustment by peer problems. To achieve this purpose, single subject pretest-pottiest design was implemented for Ha-nul with school maladjustment in the third grade of the elementary school. As for the testing period of this study, this program was carried out one time a week for 10 weeks from Sept 11, 2006 to Oct 13, 2006. Each test lasted for $40{\sim}60$ minutes. To find out changes in the school adjustment of the subject child, the progress in change before and after tests was comparatively analyzed through a Likert-type three-step evaluation scale and presented as tables and graphs regarding the target behavior table. And the school adjustability was calculated in terms of percentage and presented as tables and bar graphs through a Likert-type four-step evaluation scale. Change in the subject Ha-nul's behavior, which was shown in test scenes, was observed and recorded and then Qualitatively analyzed. The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this study: First, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to the relationship between a teacher in charge and Ha-nul with the school maladjustment This program made a confidence and increased the ability to express one's own ideas and feelings to others. Second, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to the relationship between schoolfellows and Ha-nul with the school maladjustment This program provided the opportunities to get along with peers naturally and the abilities of a mutual understanding. Third, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the partially positive influence to Ha-nul with the school maladjustment. Fourth, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to follow the school rules by experiencing a role, concession and fairness through the various activities. Fifth, the Peer relationship improvement program was effective in the positive influence to take part in the school event with a self-confidence and cooperation with peers through the various activities.
This study investigated the prevalence of mutual antipathy in peer groups and the distribution of mutual antipathy with same- and opposite-gender peers. Moreover, psychosocial maladjustment was compared between children with mutual antipathies and children with no mutual antipathies. The subjects, 520 children in the fifth and sixth grades completed peer nominations that assessed mutual antipathy, social behavior, peer victimization. and friendship. In addition, teachers assessed children's internalizing and externalizing problems. The results indicated that 23.5% of the children had one or more mutual antipathy. Compared to children with no antipathy, those with antipathy had different psychosocial adjustment. When including children who received at least one rejection nomination, having a mutual antipathy was associated with maladjustment for girls, but not for boys.
Effectiveness of Long-term Group-counseling in Improving Emotional Intelligence and Prosocial Behavior in Preschooler The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of long-term group-counseling in preventing children's maladjustment at school. for this study, six children were selected for an experimental group and another six for a control group. They were tested using the Emotional Intelligence Rating System and the Prosocial Behavior Skill Situations Measure for Preschool Level. In addition to quantitative analysis, a qualitative analysis was conducted to examine group processes and changes in each child. The experimental group participated insocio-drama, group art therapy, and game play therapy whereas the control group did not receive any treatment. In order to examine the impact of the intervention, pre-program tests and post-program tests were conducted. The results were as follows. First, the children's emotional intelligence was improved with group counseling. There was a significant difference in emotional intelligence between the experimental and the control groups. Second, children's prosocial behavior ability alsoimproved. There was a significant difference in social ability between the experimental and the control groups.
The number of individuals with spinal cord injuries in the most countries is rising each year. However, it is reported that most of them have sexual problem, however lack of research on deal with the issues related to sex identity and maladjustment in rehabilitation counseling setting. The purpose of this article: (a) to possess an adequate knowledge of the sexual problems facing individuals with spinal cord injuries; (b) to review past research on sexuality counseling with people who have spinal cord injuries; and (c) to present for some strategies for people with spinal cord injuries in order to sexuality adjustment, through Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Some suggestions are presented.
The purpose of this study was to verify the effectiveness of sociodrama on adolescents who are maladjusted in school. For this study, nine adolescents were selected from a middle school located in Seoul. The Inventory of School adjustment by Bae Sook-Jin, Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory(BDHI) and Impulsivity Test by Eysenck were administered. The experiment group acted out a sociodrama twelve times. The first follow-up test was conducted twelve weeks after the pre-test. The second follow-up test was conducted six weeks after first follow-up test. Each time the adolescents acted out a sociodrama their behavior was recorded by a video- camera and then documented by research assistants. Also in order to discover any changes in daily life after sociodrama, an interview survey were done with the adolescents' teachers. The findings were as follows. First, in the initial follow-up test degree of school-maladjustment was less than in the pre-test. Further decreases in the level of maladjustment were noted in the subsequent follow-ups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the performance of sociodramas can reduce school-maladjustment among adolescents and that this reduced level is maintained. Second, the level of hostility discovered in the first follow-up test was less than that in the pre-test, and this level continued to decrease in the following follow-ups. Therefore, we may conclude that sociodrama that reduces adolescent hostility and the reduced levels continue. Finally, the degree of impulse detected in the first follow-up was, once again, less than that of the pre-test, And, as in the other cases, there was a continued decrease in this level. We may therefore conclude that sociodrama does reduce the impulse of adolescents and that this reduction is maintained. This study indicates that sociodrama is an effective method to improve the psychological characters of adolescents who are maladjusted in school. Given the above, a follow up study is suggested.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of family relations on facility adaptation of the elderly. In January and February of 2018, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 5 ~ 6 elderly residents of each long-term care facility, and finally 353 data were used for analysis. The main results of the study were as follows: First, the adaptation level of the elderly was high. As for 'maladjustment of group behavior' and 'movement shock', the level of maladjustment is low as 2 points, and adaptation dimension such as 'accept of new residence' and 'making friend' is above the middle level. Second, the influence of family variables was more influential than the demographic characteristics of the elderly and the influence of the facility-related variables. Among them, the closeness with family is the most influential. Therefore, it is suggested that the elderly need active support and efforts to maintain the intimacy with the family from the entrance to the facility and the time after the entrance.
Subjects of this study were 621 children selected from 5th and 6th grades of elementary schools in Pusan. Factors associated with parents and peers varied by type of peer maladjustment(aggressive type and withdrawn type, compared with a control group). Particularly, the level of factors associated with peers varied from the control group by peer maladjusted types(aggressive types and, withdrawn types). Causal relationships of parents' rejection, victimization, negative representation by parents and by peers on child?s maladjustment varied by behavior types. Negative representation of peers had a direct effect only on withdrawal. On the other hand, negative representation of peers had no effect on aggression. Victimization had a first total effect on both withdrawal and aggression.

This study aims to explore the effects of the parenting education program for high-school maladjusted students. To this purpose, a parenting education program for adolescents developed by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family(MOGEF) was applied to ten high-school maladjusted students in an alternative(Dae-an) class in Jeju. Findings from class observations and interviews with participants are as follows. First, students with school maladjustment recognized importance and necessity of positive self-concepts and had an opportunity for self-growth through parenting education program. Second, students with school maladjustment obtained understanding about their family of origin and confidence for forming their future families. Third, advance learning about meanings and roles of being a parent provided students with opportunities to know importance of responsible sexual behavior. Fourth, practices of basic care with a replica of a new-born baby enhanced participation and concentration level of students with school maladjustment which became extremely effective in obtaining necessary knowledge for the basic care. Fifth, information provision for parent roles according to children's different developmental levels let students recognize that parent's roles change as their children grow and opened a way to grasp the need of parent education. Sixth, education and repetitive practices on reflective listening helped students enhance communication skills which entailed expanding their human relations. Seventh, passing-down of emotion and understanding on child abuse allowed students recognize risks of child abuse as well as the importance and need of skills for controlling emotion. This study sheds lights on the feasibility and effectiveness of a parenting education program for maladjusted or vulnerable students as an effective program for school drop-out prevention.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to address two questions: (1) To what extent are types of child abuse related to psycho-social maladjustment of the abused? (2) Do relations found in this study vary by the gender, sample size, year of publication, types of publication, and respondents' age? The materials of this study were based on 14 variables obtained from 104 published and unpublished (doctoral disserations and master's theses) research papers over a span of 26 years(1990-2016). Child abuse related variables were categorized into physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and abuse while psycho-social maladjustment grouped as internal (anxiety, depression, withdrawal, and anxiety/depression) and external problem behaviors(aggression, problem behavior, and delinquency). Major findings were: Medium effect size of emotional abuse, abuse, physical abuse, neglect on psycho-social maladjustment among the abused were calculated. Emotional abuse was highly related to every internal and external problem behaviors. Neglect was found to have higher effect size in external problem behaviors than internal problem behaviors. Publication types moderated the association between types of child abuse and internalization while year of publication, number of samples and publication types showed moderation effects on the relation between types of child abuse and externalization. Finding suggest that future studies on child sexual abuse and those on intervention outcome are required and use of well validated instruments are essential.
