  • The purpose of this study is to find the structural relationships among major satisfaction, career search efficacy, and career exploration behavior with marine science high school students. For investigating this topic, 524 students were surveyed from the marine science high schools. In order to find out the structural relationships among major satisfaction, career search efficacy, and career exploration behavior, structural equation modeling was used. Followings were the results of the research: (a) Major satisfaction effected significantly on the career search efficacy. (b) Career search efficacy effected significantly on the career exploration behavior. (C) There was not significant direct cause and effects from major satisfaction to career exploration behavior, but indirect effect was significant. Some recommendations were suggested for increasing career exploration behavior of marine science high school students.

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the acoustic patterns of Japanese /t/ produced by 40 Korean speakers in order to find an effective method of teaching it to Koreans. The experimental data consisted of 400 /t/ phonemes in word initial or non-initial positions of 10 words. Informants were in their twenties and raised in Daejeon and the surrounding area. Results showed that there were distinctive trends in duration and intensity of the major and non-major groups productions. Both groups pronounced the phoneme longer than the native speakers with more open mouths but with less loudness. The formant analysis showed that F1 values of the Japanese /t/ pronounced by Japanese major group were lower than those of the non-major. Its F2 values by the major group were higher than those of the non-major, which would suggest that the Koreans produced the tongue blade in more frontal position than the native speakers.

  • This study involves descriptive research designed to understand the level of major satisfaction, the motivation for major selection, and major commitment of undergraduate nursing students, as well as the factors influencing major commitment and the mediating role of major selection motives. Data collection was conducted with 228 people enrolled in nursing colleges located in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, and proceeded from November 7th to November 16th, 2020. The collected data was analyzed with the SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. The analysis found that the level of major satisfaction was high and that the motivation for major selection and the major commitment were strong. Major satisfaction and motivation for major selection were predicted as factors influencing major commitment. Major satisfaction and major commitment were partially mediated by the motive for major selection, and specifically, they were partially mediated by personal motives. These results provide basic information to improve the undergraduate nursing students' major commitment, and suggests the importance of the process in which nursing is selected as a major.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to understand the level and patterns of college adjustment, major satisfaction, academic engagement, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study examined the factors influencing adaptation to college life. Methods: This study was approved by the institutional review board of 00 university. We analyzed 166 survey data responses collected by distributing questionnaires from June 1 to July 2, 2020. Statistical product and service solutions version 23.0 was used for statistical analyses. The data were presented as frequencies and percentages or means and standard deviations, and pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: There was a significant difference in the average score of major satisfaction according to the type of college (university) and grades. For college adjustment, there was a significant difference in the average score according to major grades. Academic engagement showed a significant difference in the average score according to the college type and grade. Major satisfaction, college adjustment, and academic motivation showed significant positive correlations among the variables, whereas ADHD, major satisfaction, and college adjustment showed a significant negative correlation. Multiple regression analysis revealed that major satisfaction (p<0.001) and academic motivation (p<0.001) were factors affecting college adjustment (p<0.05). Conclusions: It is necessary to develop and apply specific and systematic adaptation programs to improve the understanding, control, and guidance methods for college students and to promote human relations, such as school life and social life.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to test the critical thinking tendency, clinical practice satisfaction, and clinical performance, and analyze the factors impacting clinical practice satisfaction and clinical performance of dental hygiene students. Methods: The study conducted a written survey during the period between 30 July ~20 August 2019, among 3rd and 4th year dental hygiene students from Seoul, Gyung-gi region, who had taken clinical practice courses. Using SPSS 22.0 program (IBM SPSS statistics, New York, USA), the study analyzed the final 174 cases. Results: Dental hygiene students scored 3.33±0.43, 3.48±0.83, and 3.30±0.58 for critical thinking, clinical practice satisfaction, and clinical performance, respectively. The clinical thinking score was higher when their study performance was good (p<0.001), clinical practice satisfaction was higher when their major satisfaction was satisfactory (p<0.001), higher when their relationship with their clinical practice partner was good, and the clinical performance was better when the students' major satisfaction was good (p<0.001). The study performance yielded better results when their study achievement was better (p<0.05). Clinical practice satisfaction (r=0.156) and clinical performance (r=0.393) showed a positive correlation with critical thinking, and clinical performance had a positive correlation with clinical practice satisfaction. The impact factor for clinical practice satisfaction appeared to be clinical performance (p<0.05) and major satisfaction (p<0.001), and the factors impacting the clinical performance were among the sub-causes of critical thinking (p<0.05), intellectual fairness (p<0.05), watchfulness (p<0.05), clinical practice satisfaction (p<0.05), and major satisfaction (p<0.01). Conclusions: Results of the study showed that for dental hygiene students, critical thinking, clinical practice satisfaction, clinical performance, and major satisfaction were the impact factors affecting the students' clinical performance. Therefore, the study recommends that development of educational programs and operation of a field-based curriculum is necessary to improve critical thinking, clinical practice satisfaction, and major satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether library field study expands students' understanding of their knowledge acquired in school. For this purpose, six major areas of LIS(Library and Information Science) and 29 sub-major knowledge were derived, and 19 fourth-year undergraduate students were surveyed before and after field study. The analysis showed that there was a difference in comprehension between the pre- and post-tests in the major areas where the students had direct practice, but there was no significant relationship between field study using Fisher's exact test. In the future, it is necessary to conduct a follow-up study with a long-term practice and a large number of students, and this study will be a step towards discovering the possibility that field study can make a positive contribution to the understanding of knowledge.
