An Analysis of Classroom Illuminance with Simulation Program and Improvement of Classroom Illumination (시뮬레이션프로그램을 활용한 교실조도 분석 및 개선방안)

  • The actual conditions of school illumination was investigated. The illumination state was classified by the number of installed luminaires per 1 classroom. The illuminance state was measured and analyzed. The work surface illuminance was up to the standard, but the illuminance on blackboard was below standard when there was no local illumination. As a result of conducting a simulation based on the mesurement of the reflection factors of the classroom finishing materials and lamp replacement and lamp cleaning, nine luminaires for general lighting and local lighting for the blackboard were required, and the kind of design considered illumination maintenance was called for.

Characterization of Repairing PVC profile for Trenchless Sewer Pipeline (비굴착 하수관로용 PVC 프로파일 보수재 특성 평가)

  • The full depth excavation induces couple of technical and social problems like increase of construction cost and time for excavation and backfill, increase of public complains and delay of traffic, and so force. In order to overcome these problems, lots of laboratory tests were carried out for sewer pipeline of maintenance materials with trenchless methods. The testing materials are PVC strip and then the lab tests were followed by Korean Standard. We will treat the structure safety and pipe integrity of PVC profile more excellent than the profile have application to SPR. There is no side-effect to process and to satisfy the criteria of tensile strength, impact strength and softening temperature. The profile with resin adhesive showed no leakage of water at specific pressure.

  • There is commonly used the full depth excavation method of sewer pipeline maintenance in Korea. This induces couple of technical and social problems like increase of construction cost and time for excavation and backfill, increase of public complains and delay of traffic, and so force. In order to overcome these problems, lots of laboratory tests were carried out for sewer pipeline of maintenance materials with trenchless methods. The testing materials are liquid and hardened polyurethane, and polyurethane CIPP. The lab tests were followed by Korean Standard. There are no side effects, like harmless to the human body and air pollution with stink. Judging from the limited test results, all the items tested were satisfied the KS criteria.

Effect of Absorbent Materials and Initial Sealed Curing on Drying Shrinkage and Compressive Strength of Hwangtoh Mortar (흡수성 물질과 초기 밀봉양생이 황토 모르타르의 건조수축과 압축강도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of the absorbent materials on the material properties(compressive strength and drying shrinkage) of natural hwangtoh mortar which is one of the traditional building material in Korea. The absorbent materials used are seaweed paste and Super-Absorbent Polymer(SAP). In addition to the absorbent materials, the initial sealed curing recommended by the standard specification of properties for Korean traditional building materials is also a main interest of this study. Based on the test results of 28 days compressive strength and converged drying shrinkage, it is confirmed that the initial sealed curing for 7 days is effective to reduce the drying shrinkage and to enhance the compressive strength. Thus, it is verified that the recommendation is reasonable and has positive effects on the properties of the mortar. Next, the test results show that the addition of absorbent materials into the mortar is also effective to the two properties depending on their absorption capacity. Thus, it is more effective to use SAP than the seaweed paste because of higher absorption capacity. However, both the initial sealed curing and keeping total water contents of the mortar are required to show this effectiveness. Lastly, the compressive strength is inversely proportional to the drying shrinkage. By using this relation, the reason of the increase of compressive strength due to the initial sealed curing or the addition of absorbent materials is quantitatively explained.

  • Recently, study on self-healing materials have been performed to increase the life by repairing the damage of structures themselves, which are difficult to repair or require high maintenance costs. A water permeability test has been widely used for the evaluation of self-healing performance. However, in the self-healing performance test method, the initial crack width of the concrete greatly affects on the self-healing performance but it does not have a consistent standard. Therefore, in this study, the correlation between crack and permeability and that between time and permeability were analyzed based on crack width and permeability. In addition, since the initial crack width measured by optical microscope is not reliable, the value is derived from the Poiseuille flow and the tendency of time-permeability and time-crack width are analyzed.

A Study on Performance Evaluation of New Asphalt Surface Reinforcement Method (ASRM) for Preventive Maintenance (예방적 유지보수를 위한 아스팔트 표면강화공법의 실내 성능 평가)

  • The new asphalt surface reinforcement method (ASRM) is one of the preventive maintenance methods in asphalt concrete pavements. The adhesion performance of new ASRM satisfied the standard of non-slip pavement and bridge waterproofing materials. As a results of durability tests (as wheel load, rolling bottle and UV resistance test), the new ASRM showed sufficient resistance to traffic and environmental loads. The waterproof and chemical resistance tests of new ASRM were conducted to evaluate whether the pavement could be protected from water and chemicals and the performances of new ASRM were satisfactory. Furthermore, the new ASRM demonstrated some rejuvenation effects due to its toughness increases in recycled asphalt concrete mixture by 5% compared to the conventional hot mix asphalt mixture using reclaimed asphalt pavement. In conclusion, the new ASRM was evaluated to protect the asphalt concrete pavement and increase the lifetime.

  • Construction industry, which is a composite industry being performed by organic combination of various tasks, gives birth to a various of information in the stages of planning, designing, and maintenance management. In particular, the drawing information is broad in the scope of use because it contains all information about buildings as wall as bid, materials, contracts. Therefore, the management of drawing information security is one of the most important factors, which determines the success of failure of business. The major findings and result of this study are as follows to control the distributed drawing information in the collaboration environment. 1) Analysis for function and practical use of DRM in the construction industry. 2) Proposal for applications of DRM that can secure IFC model-based drawing information in the collaboration environment. 3) Extraction from additional IFC entities to apply DRM to part 21 physical files 4) Analysis for functions which are necessary in DRM application prototype system and development of the system. 5) Development IFC model-based DRM prototype system.

  • Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP)s have various advantages for construction material in that they are noncorrosive and very strong. FRPs are economical and effective for management and maintenance when applied to footbridge, beam or deck of the bridge, girder, and marine structure. For safety, optimal design for standard modulation of the cross section is necessary. Conditions of optimum are possibilities of domestic production, modular assembly, and structure materials cast in compressed area.

  • This study was performed to evaluate bonding strength of the composites section made of existing concrete and repair mortar in domestic. The pull-out tester was used to test bonding strength for the composites section made of each materials. The results of the test was used to evaluate the korean industrial standard of polymer modified cement mortars for maintenance in concrete structures.
