  • Carbonation is the results of the interaction of carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere with the alkaline hydroxides in the concrete. in other words, of the hydrates in the cement pastes, the one which reacts with readily is Ca(OH)2, the product of the reaction being CaCO3 and which decreases the alkalinity of concrete. Consequently, RC structure is deteriorated due to steel corrosion in concrete. As the importance of maintenance of reinforced concrete structure recently has emerged, the attention of durability of structure has been increasing. There are many studies about durability decline especially due to the carbonation. In order to study carbonation progress after surface repair of carbonated concrete, each carbonation penetration velocity from different repair materials of concrete structure is compared through the experiment of carbonation accelerating CO2 concentration to 100%. As carbonation infiltration progress is predicted through this study, the counterplan of service life evaluation will be prepared on selection of repair materials of concrete structure.

A Study on the Change of Mass in Flow Velocity Using Loss Resistane Test Method - Using Synthetic rubber system Repair material - (유실저항성 시험방법을 이용한 유속조건에서의 질량변화 추이 연구 합성고무계 보수재료를 중심으로-)

  • Tests are conducted according to the ISO TS 16774, Part 3 standard for quality management of leakage repair materials used in cracks in underground concrete structures. These test methods are performed indirectly using a nonwoven fabric on a chalet containing leak repair materials. However, it is considered that it is appropriate to verify the resistance of the repair material, which is required to be applied directly to the cracks in the actual field and to exhibit the resistance of the flow velocity. In this study, mass change was measured by using nonwoven fabric and nonwoven fabric. As a result, both methods showed an increase in mass, which indicated that the maintenance material itself contained a large amount of water, and that the mass change occurred depending on the drying state. Also, depending on the use of nonwoven fabric, the error due to the indirect test could not be ruled out. Therefore, further verification is needed, and it is considered that the test for change of mass reduction measurement is necessary according to the drying time of other types of the same series.

  • Historic buildings are history of human kind and a crystal of culture. Therefore, we have a responsibility and obligation to succeed to descendants. Once such heritage is damaged, it is hard to restore its original form. Thus, various attempts to preserve its value and authenticity have been made internationally. Among these, the international preservation tendency of historic building in terms of materials has been given to the preservation of materials as well as the preservation of appearance. In accordance with such trend, Korea also presented an equivalent general principle, and has managed historic buildings with the separate related instruction. The most general method to preserve historic buildings in Korea is a repair work. Since the foundation of Korea, the repair work tendency has been carried out in the principle of phenomenon change and original form maintenance. But, such tendency focuses on the appearance such as style, structure and trimming method, and there is insufficient consideration on the authentic preservation of materials. Accordingly, this study attempts to examine preservation principle and methods in the repair works, and also to investigate the afforestation condition for the restoration work. And, by suggesting preservation method of authentic materials, it aims to prepare the reference for the future repair work.

OAPR-HOML'1: Optimal automated program repair approach based on hybrid improved grasshopper optimization and opposition learning based artificial neural network

  • Over the last decade, the scientific community has been actively developing technologies for automated software bug fixes called Automated Program Repair (APR). Several APR techniques have recently been proposed to effectively address multiple classroom programming errors. However, little attention has been paid to the advances in effective APR techniques for software bugs that are widely occurring during the software life cycle maintenance phase. To further enhance the concept of software testing and debugging, we recommend an optimized automated software repair approach based on hybrid technology (OAPR-HOML'1). The first contribution of the proposed OAPR-HOML'1 technique is to introduce an improved grasshopper optimization (IGO) algorithm for fault location identification in the given test projects. Then, we illustrate an opposition learning based artificial neural network (OL-ANN) technique to select AST node-level transformation schemas to create the sketches which provide automated program repair for those faulty projects. Finally, the OAPR-HOML'1 is evaluated using Defects4J benchmark and the performance is compared with the modern technologies number of bugs fixed, accuracy, precession, recall and F-measure.

On determining a non-periodic preventive maintenance schedule using the failure rate threshold for a repairable system

  • Maintenance activities are regarded as a key part of the repairable deteriorating system because they maintain the equipment in good condition. In practice, many maintenance policies are used in engineering fields to reduce unexpected failures and slow down the deterioration of the system. However, in traditional maintenance policies, maintenance activities have often been assumed to be performed at the same time interval, which may result in higher operational costs and more system failures. Thus, this study presents two non-periodic preventive maintenance (PM) policies for repairable deteriorating systems, employing the failure rate of the system as a conditional variable. In the proposed PM models, the failure rate of the system was restored via the failure rate reduction factors after imperfect PM activities. Operational costs were also considered, which increased along with the operating time of the system and the frequency of PM activities to reflect the deterioration process of the system. A numerical example was provided to illustrate the proposed PM policy. The results showed that PM activities performed at a low failure rate threshold slowed down the degradation of the system and thus extended the system lifetime. Moreover, when the operational cost was considered in the proposed maintenance scheme, the system replacement was more cost-effective than frequent PM activities in the severely degraded system.

  • This paper addresses the maintenance optimization problem in multi-component systems in which parts are connected in series, carrying out several missions interspersed with scheduled finite breaks. Due to limited time or resources, maintenance actions can be only carried out on a limited set of components. The decision maker then has to decide which components to maintain to ensure a pre-specified performance level during next mission. Most of the existing models in the literature usually assume only one system and enough spare parts. However, there are situations in which maintenance is required for multiple systems of the same type. To overcome this restrictive assumption, this study optimizes the maintenance problem considering the lack of repair parts and cannibalism for many identical systems. This study presents two optimization models with different objectives to solve the problem and analyzes the results so that the decision maker can decide. The results of this study are expected to be used for the maintenance of multiple systems of the same type, such as swarm drones.

An Analysis on the Effect of PBL(Performance Based Logistics) Application for ROK Navy Landing Ship Fast(LSF-II) (해군 고속상륙정(LSF-II)에 대한 성과기반군수지원(PBL) 적용 효과 분석)

  • ROK Navy Landing Ship Fast(LSF-II) is equipped with special equipment that is not compatible with other combat ships due to special missions. So there are almost no maintenance capabilities except for simple repair parts replacement and maintenance parts. The researcher determined that the way to solve these problems was to apply Performance Based Logistics (PBL), and reviewed the cases of PBL applications abroad and domestically. To confirm the current maintenance capability, we visited LSF-II operation unit to identify maintenance capabilities for each mounted equipment, and interviews with operators and maintenance practitioners confirmed the limitations of outsourcing maintenance and the need to apply PBL. In order to analyze the effect of PBL application, the measure of effectiveness and measure of performance were selected based on the opinions of LSF-II operation/maintenance practitioners and PBL experts and the practical experience of this researcher. A survey was conducted on operation/maintenance practitioners and professional personnel. Based on the survey results, the effect of applying PBL was analyzed using the AHP technique, and an efficient PBL application plan was proposed for LSF-II.

Study on Spatial Model Generation for BIM-based Apartment Maintenance History Management (BIM 기반 공동주택 유지보수 이력 관리를 위한 공간 모델 생성 연구)

  • This study proposes a BIM-based space model generation framework for managing maintenance history in apartments. While BIM adoption in design and construction phases is increasing, its use in operation and maintenance remains limited, particularly in the continuous utilization of as-built BIM models. To address this, the study introduces a methodology for automated space model generation using DYNAMO, analyzing 1,875 maintenance records and long-term repair plans from two apartment projects over two years. The framework was applied to case projects, achieving a 100% space model creation rate for dedicated spaces and 108.91% for public spaces, proving its applicability. This suggests that the automated space model generation process proposed in this study is applicable. The significance of this study is that it presents a model transition framework for the operation and maintenance phase of the as-built BIM model. In addition, it is of research value that a simplified BIM space model is proposed to overcome the limitation of not being able to manage the history of each part in the current maintenance phase. This study can be utilized as a basis for future BIM guidelines applicable to operation and maintenance phases and delivery guidelines for as-built BIM models.

Development of maintenance cost estimation method considering bridge performance changes (교량 성능변화를 고려한 유지관리비용 추계분석 방법 개발)

  • To prepare for the explosive increase in maintenance costs of bridges according to the aging of infrastructure, future maintenance costs of bridges should be predicted. For this purpose, the management status of bridges was investigated and modeled as the upper limit of the performance level and the target management level according to the life cycle. This paper proposes methodologies and procedures for estimating the bridge maintenance costs using two models and existing cost and performance prediction models that consist of unit repair cost model according to the safety score, performance degradation model of bridges, unit reconstruction cost, and average reconstruction time. To verify the applicability, future maintenance costs can be forecasted for specific management agency considering the number of bridges, degree of aging, and current management status. As a result, it is possible to obtain the maintenance cost and safety level of an individual bridge level for each year. In addition, by summing them up to the agency level, the average safety score, ratio of the safety level, inspection costs, repair costs, and reconstruction costs can be obtained. In a further study, the changes in maintenance costs can be analyzed according to the changes in the target management levels using the developed method. The optimal management level can be suggested by reviewing the results.

The Physical Properties of Port Type Crack Injection Method Using Latex Elastic Storage Tube (라텍스 탄성 저장관을 활용한 포트식 균열주입 공법의 물리적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, to solve the problems of the conventional crack repair and injection method, high elasticity latex was used as the material of the storage tube to withstand the high pressure in the center part differently from the general port. When the repair solution was injected into the crack part, The TPS method was developed so that the air existing in the TPS can be discharged. In addition, a new infusion port in which a valve blocking the backflow of the remediation solution was installed at the injection port was developed and the physical characteristics of the port were analyzed. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that the filling rate of the remedial solution was improved compared to the existing ordinary injector method, and the cracks were completely filled in the test conditions. Compressive strength and tensile strength after repair showed about 20% decrease after repair in case of using ordinary injector method, while TPS method showed about 2~7% increase after repair. The results of this study showed that the injection port method using the elastic storage tube increased the injection performance and the quality after repair compared to the conventional injector method. The result of this study is expected to be utilized as the basic data for application and commercialization of the result to the practical structure.
