Study of Shorted-turn for Cylindrical Synchronous Generator Rotor (원통형 동기발전기 회전자의 층간단락에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the methods for the detection of shorted-turn in the rotor of a cylindrical synchronous generator. A search coil is installed in the air-gap to detect the shorted-turn. The occurrence of a fault in the rotor winding results in a decrease of the induced voltages in the stator. And the magnitude of the rotor flux can be estimated by using the search coil and the estimated stator voltages respectively. And the magnitude of the estimated rotor flux is used for discriminating the rotor windings short or not by detecting the magnitude of the rotor flux. The method using a search coil located in the air-gap can detect not only the occurrence of a turn fault but also its position in the rotor winding. But the method using the estimated stator voltages gives the magnitude of the rotor flux, and only the number of a short-turn.

Analysis of influence of parameter error for extended EMF based sensorless control and flux based sensorless control of PM synchronous motor (영구자석 동기전동기의 확장 역기전력 기반 센서리스 제어와 자속기반 센서리스 제어의 파라미터 오차의 영향 분석)

  • The PM synchronous motor drives with vector control have been applied to wide fields of industry applications due to its high efficiency. The rotor position information for vector control of a PM synchronous motor is detected from the rotor position sensors or rotor position estimators. The sensorless control based on the mathematical model of PM synchronous motor is generally used and it can be classified into back EMF -based sensorless control and magnet flux-based sensorless control. The rotor position estimating performance of the back EMF-based sensorless control is deteriorated at low speeds since the magnitude of back EMF is proportional to the motor speed. The magnitude of the magnet flux for estimating rotor position in the flux-based sensorless control is independent on the motor speed so that the estimating performance is excellent for wide speed ranges. However, the estimation performance of the model-based sensorless control may be influenced by the motor parameter variation since the rotor position estimator uses the mathematical model of the PM synchronous motor. In this paper, the rotor position estimation performance for the back EMF based- and flux-based sensorless controls is analyzed theoretically and is compared through the simulation and experiment when the motor parameters including stator resistance and inductance are varied.

  • This paper presents a novel nonlinear speed control strategy for induction motor utilizing exact feedback linearization with states feedback. The speed and flux control loops utilize nonlinear feedback which eliminates the need for tuning, while ordinary proportional-integral controllers are used to control the stator current of d-axis the speed. The control scheme is derived in rotor field coordinates and employs an appropriate estimator for estimation of the rotor flux angle, flux magnitude.

  • This paper describes an approach to design a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) for the reduction of cogging torque. The magnitude of the torque ripple and cogging torque in a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) are generally dependent on several major factors: the shape of stator tooth tip, slot opening width, air gap length, the shape of barrier preventing flux leakage of magnets, magnet configuration and magnetization distribution or magnet poles. In this paper, the IPM BLDC motor is designed considering a saturated leakag flux between the barriers on the rotor for increasing the efficiency and decreasing the magnitude of the cogging torque. Analytical model is developed for the IPM BLDC motor with a concentrated winding stator. The results verifies that the proposed design approach is very efficient and effective in reducing the cogging torque and the torque ripple of the IPM BLDC motor to be used in an electric vehicle.

  • A method for the time step analysis of single phase induction motors is proposed. The unknown variables in differential equations are the currents flowing through rotor bars. They are coupled with the distributed magnetic flux densities in the airgap instead of inductance matrix while applying Kirchhoff's and Faraday's induction laws. Two patterns for magnetic flux densities are necessary. One is given by ideal stator winding distribution. the other is produced by currents flowing a rotor bar with unit magnitude and is calculated by FEM. Formulated set of equations are solved for a simple three phase and single phase example model and the resultant speed torque curve is shown in this paper.

  • This paper deals with the comparison and analysis for open-circuit field of PM(permanent magnet) machines with Halbach and circumferential magnetized rotor. The governing equation is derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and 2-d polar coordinate. And then, analytical results has been verified by comparison with those obtained from FE(finite element) method. On the basis of 2-d analytical results, this paper confirms that PM machines with circumferential magnetized rotor is superior to it with Halbach magnetized rotor in terms of magnitude and sinusoidal wave-forms of flux density due to PM and required magnet volume.

Assessment of Insulation Condition in Operating Large Turbine Generator (운전중인 대형 터빈발전기에서 절연상태 평가)

  • Six stator slot couplers(SSC) and a flux probe sensor installed on the stator winding slots of large turbine generator. Assessment of insulation condition has been based upon the measurements of partial discharge(PD) of stator windings and shorted-turn of rotor windings in operating large turbine generator. The maximum PD magnitude(Qm), normalized quantify number(NQN), PD pattern and shorted-turn were measured using on-line insulation condition monitoring system. The NQN and Qm of slot PD side in the phase A are indicated the highest value in six SSC sensors. Monitoring system results showed that discharge at conductor surface and internal discharge were detected at the surface of stator winding and in voids of the groundwall insulation. Insulation of stator and rotor windings in large turbine generator was judged to be in good condition.

  • Flow through turbomachinery has a very complex structure and Is Intrinsically unsteady. In addition, trend to highly loaded turbomachinery makes the flow extremely complex due to the interaction between rotor and stator. In this study, flows through UTRC LSRR turbine are numerically analyzed using 2 dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The convective terms of the governing equations are discretized using the Van-Leer's FVS(Flux vector splitting) with an upwind TVD scheme. The conventional central differencing is used to discretize the diffusion terms on the finite volume. The accurate unsteady motion is achieved by using a 2nd order accurate, 3-point Euler implicit scheme. The quasi-conservative zonal scheme is used for calculating the flow variables on the zonal interface between the rotor and stator. The axial gap between stator and rotor has been configured in two variations, 15% and 65% of average chord length. The analysis program is validated using experimental results and the effect of axial gap is examined. The numerical analysis results are presented by time averaged pressure coefficient and pressure magnitude coefficient and compared with experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System)을 이용한 유도 전동기의 회전자 저항을 추정하는 방법을 제안하였다. 슬립 계산은 회전자 저항 값과 연관되어 있기 때문에, 잘못된 회전자 저항 값 정보는 벡터제어의 동특성을 저하시킬 수 있다. 따라서 회전자 저항 값을 정확히 측정 또는 추정이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 회전자 자속의 크기 기반의 MRAS를 바탕으로 회전자 자속 전압 모델을 기준 모델로 구성하고 회전자 자속 전류 모델을 적응 모델로 구성하는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 두 모델 사이의 오차 신호를 영으로 수렴하도록 적응 메커니즘을 구성하여 회전자 저항 값을 추정한다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 방법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • Indirect vector control for induction motors requires the use of observers for estimation or observation of rotor flux magnitude and position. In this paper, authors discribe the induction motor vector control and introduce a nonlinear observer, named ELO(extended Luenberger Observer), without simulation results as a preliminary work for trial application. Normally, design of nonlinear observer need coordinate transfromation and linearization through solving the partial different equation. However, ELO requires minimal solution of nonlinear partial differential equation. Simulation was performed by under the enviroment of Matlab and Simulink without the proposed observer because we are still working. Simulation was performed with conventional flux observer, a dc-ac inverter by SVPWM technique, a vector controller armed with multiple PI controllers
