Biocompatible capsules have recently been highlighted as novel delivery platforms of any "materials" (e.g., drug, food, agriculture pesticide) to address current problems of living systems such as humans, animals, and plats in academia and industry for agriculture, biological, biomedical, environmental, food applications. For example, biocompatible alginate capsules were proposed as a delivery platform of biocontrol agents (e.g., bacterial antagonists) for an alternative to antibiotics, which will be a potential strategy in future agriculture. Here, we proposed a new platform based on biocompatible alginate capsules that can control the movements as an active target delivery strategy for various applications including agriculture and biological engineering. We designed and fabricated large scale biocompatible capsules using alginates and custom-made nozzles as well as gelling solutions. To develop the active target delivery platforms, we incorporated the iron oxide nanoparticles in the large scale alginate capsules. It was found that the sizes of large scale alginate capsules could be controlled via various working conditions such as concentrations of alginate solutions and iron oxide nanoparticles. As a proof of concept work, we showed that the iron oxide particles-incorporated large scale alginate capsules could be moved actively by the magnetic fields, which would be a strategy as active target delivery platforms for agriculture and biological engineering (e.g., controlled delivery of agriculture pesticides and biocontrol agents).
Here magnetic iron oxide particles (MIOPs) were synthesized under atmospheric air and which size was controlled by regulating the flow rate of alkali addition and used for efficient removal of bovine serum albumin (BSA) from water. The MIOPs were characterized using field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transformation-Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The results revealed a successful preparation of the MIOPs. The removal efficiency for BSA using MIOPs was found to be about 100% at lower concentrations (≥ 10 mg/L). The maximum adsorption of 64.7 mg/g for BSA was achieved as per the Langmuir adsorption model. In addition, microfiltration membrane for removal of BSA as model protein organic foulant is also studied. The effect of various MIOPs adsorbent sizes of 210, 680 and 1130 nm on the absorption capacity of BSA was investigated. Water permeability of the BSA integrated with the smallest size MIOPs membrane was increased by approximately 22% compared by the neat BSA membrane during dead-end filtration. Furthermore, the presence of small size MIOPs were also effective in increasing the permeate flux.
In this research, a novel and efficient quinoline thioacetamide functionalized magnetic graphene oxide composite ($GO@Fe_3O_4@QTA$) was synthesized and utilized for dispersive magnetic solid phase preconcentration of Cd(II) and Ni(II) ions in urine and various food samples. A number of diverse methods were employed for characterization of the new nanosorbent. The design of experiments approach and response surface methodology were applied to monitor and find the parameters that affect the extraction performance. After sorption and elution steps, the concentrations of target analytes were measured by employing FAAS. The highest extraction performance was achieved under the following experimental conditions: pH, 5.8; sorption time, 6.0 min; $GO@Fe_3O_4@QTA$ amount, 17 mg; 2.4 mL $1.1mol\;L^{-l}$$HNO_3$ solution as the eluent and elution time, 13.0 min. The detection limit is 0.02 and $0.2ng\;mL^{-1}$ for Cd(II), and Ni(II) ions, respectively. The accuracy of the new method was investigated by analyzing two certified reference materials (sea food mix, Seronorm LOT NO 2525 urine powder). The interfering study revealed that there are no interferences from commonly occurring ions on the extractability of target ions. Finally, the new method was satisfactorily employed for rapid extraction and determination of target ions in urine and various food samples.
This study was carried out for characterization of MIO synthesized in our laboratory by co-precipitation method and applied isotherm and kinetic models for adsorption properties. XRD analysis were conducted to find crystal structure of synthesized MIO. Further SEM and XPS analysis was performed before and after phosphate adsorption, and BET analysis for surface characterization. Phosphate stock solution was prepared by KH2PO4 for characterization of phosphate adsorption, and batch experiment was conducted using 50 ml conical tube. Langmuir and Freundlich models were applied based on adsorption equilibrium test of MIO by initial phosphate solution. Pseudo first order and pseudo second order models were applied for interpretation of kinetic model by temperature. Surface area and pore size of MIO were found $89.6m^2/g$ and 16 nm respectively. And, the determination coefficient ($R^2$) value of Langmuir model was 0.9779, which was comparatively higher than that of Freundlich isotherm model 0.9340.

This study examined the effect of Sn co-doping on the transport and magnetic properties of Cr-doped $In_2O_3$ thin films grown on (100) silicon substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The experimental results showed that Sn co-doping enhances the magnetization and appearance of the anomalous Hall effect, and increases the carrier (electron) concentration. These results suggest that the conduction carrier plays an important role in enhancing the ferromagnetism of a laser-deposited Cr-doped $In_2O_3$ film, which may have applications in transparent oxide semiconductor spin electronics devices.

$Mg_xNi_yZn_{1-x-y}Fe_2O_4$ ferrite powders were prepared by self-propagating high temperature synthesis followed by classified by ultrasonic wet-magnetic separation method to get nano-sized particles with high purity. The $Mg_xNi_yZn_{1-x-y}Fe_2O_4$ ferrites were well formed by using several powders like iron, nickel oxide, zinc oxide and magnesium oxide at 0.1 MPa of oxygen pressure. The ultrasonic wet-magnetic separation of pre-mechanical milled ferrite powders produced the powders with average size of $3.7-0.8{\mu}m$. The addition of a surfactant during the separation process improved productivity more than twice. The coercive force, maximum magnetization and residual magnetization of the $Mg_xNi_yZn_{1-x-y}Fe_2O_4$ nano-powders with 810 nm size were 45.89 Oe, 53.92 emu/gOe, 0.4 emu/Oe, respectively.
We confirmed that the improvement in properties of magnetic tunnel junctions prepared by radical oxidation after thermal treatment was mostly resulted from the redistribution of oxygen at the $AIOx/Co_{90}Fe_{10}$ interface. The as-deposited Al oxide barrier was oxygen-deficient but most of it re-oxidized into $Al_2O_3$, the thermodynamically stable stoichiometric phase, through thermal treatment. As a result, the effective barrier height was increased from 1.52 eV to 2.27 eV. On the other hand, the effective barrier width was decreased from 8.2 ${\AA}$ to 7.5 ${\AA}$. X-ray absorption spectra of Fe and Co clearly showed that the oxygen in the CoFe layer diffused back into the Al barrier and thereby enriched the barrier to close to a stoichiometirc $Al_2O_3$ phase. The oxygen bonded with Co and Fe diffused back by 6.8 ${\AA}$ and 4.5 ${\AA}$ after thermal treatment, respectively. Our results confirm that controlling the chemical structures of the interface is important to improve the properties of magnetic tunnel junctions.

In this study, growth and burning behavior of 6061 aluminum alloy was studied under constant anodic voltages at various temperatures and magnetic stirring rates in 20% sulfuric acid solution by analysing I-t curves, measuring thickness and hardness of aluminum anodic oxide (AAO) films, observations of surface and cross-sectional images of AAO films. AAO films were grown continuously at lower voltages than 18.5V but burning occurred when a voltage more than 19V was applied in 20% H2SO4 solution at 20±0.5℃ and 200 rpm of magnetic stirring. The burning was always related with an extremely large increase of anodic current density with anodizing time, suggesting that high heat generation during anodizing causes deteriorations of AAO films by chemical reaction with acidic solutions. The burning resulted in decreases of film thickness and hardness, surface color brightened and formation of porous defects in the AAO films. The burning voltage was found to decrease with increasing solution temperature and decreasing magnetic stirring rate. The decreased burning voltages seem to be closely related with increased chemical reactions between AAO films and hydrogen ions.
The vibratory and rotational levels of many biological macromolecules lie in the terahertz (THz) band, which means that THz techniques can be used to identify and detect them. Moreover, since the biological activity of most biomolecules only becomes apparent in aqueous solution, we use microfluidic technology to study the biological properties of these biomolecules. THz time-domain spectroscopy was used to study the THz absorption characteristics of graphene oxide (GO) aqueous solution at different concentrations and different exposure times in fixed electric or magnetic fields. The results show that the spectral characteristics of the GO solution varied with the concentration: as the concentration increased, the THz absorption decreased. The results also show that after placing the solution in an external electric field, the absorption of THz first increased and then decreased. When the solution was placed in a magnetic field, the THz absorption increased with the increase in standing time. In this paper, these results are explained based on considerations of what is occurring at the molecular scale. The results of this study provide technical support for the further study of GO and will assist with its improved application in various fields.
Supported vanadium oxides are being used extensively as catalysts for a variety of reactions, including partial oxidations and ammoxidations. A series of vanadium oxide supported on TiO2-ZrO2 was obtained by impregnating ammonium metavanadate slowly into a mixed precipitateof Ti(OH)4-Zr(OH)4, followed by calcining in air at high temperatures. The prepared catalysts were characterized by 51V solid-state NMR. In the calcined catalysts 51V NMR studies indicated the peaks corresponding to distorted tetrahedral vanadia species at low V2O5 contents and octahedral vanadia species at high vanadia loadings. These results illustrate the suitability of 51V NMR as a unique quantitative spectroscopic tool in the structural analysis of vanadium(V) oxide catalytic materials.
