  • In this paper, hybrid electromagnets using NdFeB permenant magnet are designed by 3-dimensional finite element analysis. Four hybrid magnets levitate the carrier of which total weight including control circuits and battery is 14[kg]. The nominal air gap length of the hybrid magnet is 3[mm]. The control circuit consists of DSP, 4-quadrant chopper, and gap sensor as feedback sensors. As a result, some experimental results for the magnetic levitation control by PI feedback control theory are shown.

  • 본 논문에서는 자기부상시스템의 상태추정을 위한 슬라이딩모드 관측기와 동적 안정화를 위한 슬라이딩모드 제어기를 제안한다. 제안된 슬라이딩모드 관측기는 관측오차를 감소시키기 위해서 Lyapunov 안정도이론에 의하여 구성되고, 추정된 상태에 대해서 등가 제어입력과 비선형 제어입력의 일차결합으로 슬라이딩모드 제어기가 설계된다. 제안된 설계방법의 유용성은 모의실험결과로부터 검증한다.

  • In this paper, a robust levitation controller for an attractive MAGLVE system is designed. The design of an H$\infty$ controller based on LMI method is proposed for the control of a simple magnetic levitation system. Attractive MAGLEV system is highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable, and has a very restricted equilibrium region, Also, this system has to tolerate various disturbances caused by propulsion.   • Magnet core and rail of a magnetically levitated vehicle are usually made of highly conductive materials. Accordingly, eddy currents are induced in those members. Eddy currents often lead to a decrement of levitation and guidance force. This paper has calculated the decrement of both forces due to eddy current generated by magnet's vertical and lateral motion. U-shaped electromagnet and rail were chosen as amodel of 2D finite element analysis. Calculated results proved that both forces dropped significantly at high speed. Consequently, effects of eddy current should be considered in designing the magnet and control system.

  • In the semiconductor and optical industry, a new transport system which can replace the conventional transport systems is required. The transport systems are driven by the magnetic field and conveyer belts. The magnetic field may damage semiconductor and the contact force may scratch the optical lens. The ultrasonic wave driven system can solve these problems. In this semiconductor and optical industry, the non-contact system is required fur reducing the damages. The ultrasonic transportation is the solution of the problem. In this paper, the ultrasonic levitation system fur levitating object are proposed. The 3D vibration profiles of the beam are measured by Laser scanning Vibrometer fur verifying the vibration characteristics of the system and the amplitudes of the beam and the levitation heights of object are measured for evaluating the performance.

Effects of artificial holes in very large single-grain Y1.5Ba2Cu3O7-y bulk superconductors

  • The effects of artificial holes on the trapped magnetic fields and magnetic levitation forces of very large single-grain $Y_{1.5}Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ (Y1.5) bulk superconductors were studied. Artificial holes were made for Y1.5 powder compacts by die pressing using cylindrical dies with a diameter of 30 mm or 40 m, or rectangular dies with a side length of 50 mm. The single grain Y1.5 bulk superconductors (25 mm, 33 mm in diameter and 42 mm in side length) with artificial holes were fabricated using a top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) process for the die-pressed Y1.5 powder compacts. The magnetic levitation forces at 77 K of the 25 mm single grain Y1.5 samples with one (diameters of 4.2 mm) or six artificial holes (diameters of 2.5 mm) were 10-17% higher than that of the Y1.5 sample without artificial holes. The trapped magnetic fields at 77 K of the Y1.5 samples with artificial holes were also 9.6-18% higher than that of the Y1.5 sample without artificial holes. The 33 mm and 42 mm single grain Y1.5 samples with artificial holes (2.5 mm and 4.2 mm in diameter) also showed trapped magnetic fields 10-13% higher than that of the Y1.5 samples without artificial holes in spite of the reduced superconducting volume fraction due to the presence of artificial holes. The property enhancement in the large single grain Y1.5 bulk superconductors appears to be attributed to the formation of the pore-free regions near the artificial holes and the homogeneous oxygen distribution in the large Y123 grains.

PSO를 이용한 수동형 자기 베어링의 최적 설계 (Optimal Design for Passive Magnetic Bearing Using PSO)

  • The existing contact-type bearings using rolling or sliding require continuous maintenance due to abrasion caused by friction and are not suitable for high-speed rotation and slimming. A magnetic bearing without contact can overcome such problems but the performance depends on the allocation of magnets and the structure of bearings. This paper proposes a method designing parameters of a passive magnetic bearing to improve levitation force. The proposed method employs Halbach array as the allocation of magnets, uses particle swam optimization to determine the structure of bearings. The numerical experiment shows that the levitation force is improved by the proposed method compared with the existing one using finite element analysis.

  • Applying the magnetically levitated transportation system, which is noncontact bearing system, to solve the problems such as transformation of original form or flaw of iron plate caused by transportation of thin iron plate which required high quality as body of motor vehicle, materials of electronic devices etc.. Magnetic saturation phenomena caused by thickness of iron plate and gap size between magnets. In case of iron plate, the vibration mode will be considered since vibration occurs during transportation. In order to solve the problems caused by vibration, choose the levitation system method using numbers of magnet, magnetic saturation for thickness and length of iron plate with parameters in location and gap of magnet. In this paper, we will suggest the whole design technique of magnetically levitated transportation system, namely method of magnetic attraction and transportation system

  • This paper introduces a new self-bearing motor which combines a homopolar step motor and a passive magnetic bearing. Compared with conventional self-bearing motors which are mostly based on the theory of active magnetic bearings and therefore have some difficulties in design of the complicated flux distribution and control of the levitation force and the torque independently, the proposed self-bearing motor has a very simple and novel structure and operating principle. for the levitation, it works just like passive magnetic bearings which use the repulsive force between permanent magnets. On the other hand, its rotation principle is quite similar to that of a conventional homopolar step motor. In this paper, we introduce the basic structure and the operating principle in detail, and show some results of FEM analysis to predict the performance of the proposed self-bearing motor and further, to get the optimal design parameters.
