  • The electronic transitions from the ground state to low-lying excited states of CF₃OH have been investigated using high level ab initio quantum mechanical techniques. Also the possible photodissociation procedures of CF₃OH have been considered. The highest level employed in this study is TZP CCSD(T) level of theory. The possible four low-lying excited states can result by the excitation of the lone pair electron (n) in oxygen to σ$^*$ molecular orbital in C-O or O-H bond. The vertical transition (n → σ$^*$) energy is predicted to be 220.5 kcal/mol (130 nm) at TZ2P CISD level to theory. The bond dissociation energies of CF₃OH to CF₃O +H and CF₃+OH have been predicted to be 119.5 kcal/mol and 114.1 kcal/mol, respectively, at TZP CCSD level of theory. In addition, the transition state for the unimolecular decomposition of CF₃OH into CF₂O + HF has been examined. The activation energy and energy separation for this decomposition have been computed to be 43.6kcal/mol and 5.0 kcal/mol including zero-point vibrational energy corrections at TZP CCSD(T) level of theory.ed phenols were also estimated.

  • Decay kinetics of Ga(5s), Ga(5p) and Ga(4d) atoms in Ar were studied by laser induced fluorescence technique. Theground state gallium atoms in the gas phase were generated by pulsed dc discharge of trimethyl gallium and argon mixtures. Both pulsed discharge and YAG-DYE laser system were controlled by a dual channel pulse generator and the delay time between the end of discharge and laser pulses was set 3.0-6.0 ms. The Ga(5s) and Ga(4d) atoms were generated by single photon excitation from the ground state Ga atoms and radiative lifetimes as well as the total quenching rate constants in Ar were obtained from the pressure dependence of the fluorescence decay rates. The Ga(5p) atoms were populated by a two-photon excitation method and the cascade fluorescence from Ga(5s) atoms were analyzed to extract quenching rate constant of Ga(5p) atoms by Ar in addition to radiative lifetimes of Ga(5p) state. The magnitudes of the quenching rate constants by Ar for the low-lying excited states of Ga atoms are 1.6-3$ {\times}10^{-11}cm^3$ molecul$e^{-1}s^{-1}$, which are much larger than those for alkali, alkaline earth and Group 12 metals. Based on the measured rate constants, kinetic simulations were done to assign state-to-state rate constants.

  • Purpose : To provide the understanding of abdominal hollowing exercise, this study reviewed literatures related with TrA and AHE. Methods : We reviewed the prior studies related with TrA and AHE. Results : Crook lying is easier to facilitate isolated contraction of TrA from EO than the others. The contraction of the TrA is shown to be the highest muscle activity in prone lying. Additionally, wall support standing(or standing) is shown a higher contraction of entire abdominal muscle than the others. However, learning and teaching correct AHE have innate difficulties in four positions. Conclusion : We have to consider that Rehabilitative Ultrasonic Imaging(RUSI) can facilitate accurate AHE. In the country, physical therapists will be necessary more training and efforts to use ultrasound because very few use ultrasound in clinical field. It will be necessary to study the effects of RUSI feedback and examine effects of exercises in combination with AHE.

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to conduct inter-rater and intra-rater reliability tests in patients with low back pain (LBP) using the prone instability test (PIT) and side-lying instability test (SIT). We have analyzed the Korean version Oswestry disability index (K-ODI) correlations and radiograph finding (RF) for validity. METHODS: Individuals (n = 51) (mean age of 40.27 ± 13.28) with LBP for at least over a week were recruited, together with two participating physical therapist examiners. The measurement consisted of PIT, PST, K-ODI, and RF. Sensitivity (Sn), specificity (Sp), positive predictive value, negative predictive value, prevalence index, agreement %, Cohen's kappa, and prevalence-adjusted bias-adjusted kappa (PABAK) were calculated. The PIT and SIT were compared with RF for validity analysis, while PIT, SIT, K-ODI, and RF were calculated for the correlation analysis. RESULTS: The intra-rater reliability test measured for the PIT (kappa = .79, PABAK = .88) and SIT (kappa = .73, PABAK = .84), and inter-rater reliability test measured for the SIT (kappa = .80, PABAK = .88) showed good agreements. The PIT (Sn = .65, Sp = .63) and SIT validities (Sn = .68, Sp = .70) were compared with RF, showing a significant correlation in PIT and RF (r = .69), SIT and RF (r = .73), and PIT and K-ODI (r = .53). CONCLUSION: The SIT is a more comfortable position test than the PIT in patients. Both PIT and SIT have acceptable reliability and validity.

  • The number of single-person households is increasing worldwide, and among them, the proportion of elderly single-person households is increasing. In the case of elderly single-person households, a significant portion of their leisure time is devoted to watching TV. However, if they fall asleep while watching TV without turning it off, it may be difficult to sleep well due to lights and sounds of TV, which can cause health problems such as depression and reduced immunity. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system that automatically turns off the TV when a person watching TV falls asleep. Images are collected using the camera installed in front of the TV. Since the posture of a person watching TV varies from a sitting posture to a lying posture, the system is designed to determine whether or not to fall asleep regardless of the posture. In addition, since it becomes difficult to judge eye movements as a person moves away from the TV, a method for extending the judgmentable distance is proposed. The system model was implemented and tested using a Raspberry Pi, a monitor, an infrared sensor, and a camera. Eye movements were judged regardless of sitting or lying position, and the distance between a user and a TV was extended by about 200 cm.

  • This study was performed to investigate the behavioral characteristics of Hanwoo(Bos taurus coreanae) cows and their calves. Four cows and their calves were placed in pens. The behaviors of each cow and calf were recorded using a time lapse VCR from 07:00 h to 18:00 h for 6 days and were analyzed using the scan point sampling method. The cow's behaviors in order of frequency were LD(lying down, 25%), ST(standing, 23%), EA(eating, 13%), LR(lying down rumination, 10%) and SR(standing rumination, 7%). The cows spent less than 3% of their time PG(pairwise grooming) and SF(snifting). The calves mainly showed LD(52%), ST(28%), LF (lying flat, 4%), EA(3%) and WA(walking, 3%). The calves spent less than 2% of their time SF(sniffing) and SUK(suckling), The behavioral patterns of cows and their calves at 07:00 h, 12:00 h and 18:00 h were different, especially in ST and LD.

  • The otitis media has the highest rate of occurrence in 6-36 month after birth, and relatively high rate of occurrence to six years old. It is one of major cause for hearing loss problem because of its high rate of recurrence. The researcher observed at bed that feeding posture and feeding habit at night have some relationship with occurrence of otitis media. I found that medical research in this area was very weak, and it caused her to concentrate her research on the topic. This paper was undertook a retrospective case-control study to find out the relationship between the mode of feeding and the occurrence of otitis media among the otitis media patients and the healthy persons. As the controling groups, the researcher chose fifty eight mothers whose children received the treatment of otitis media(6-36 months after birth) from the pediatrics clinic of two general hospitals in Seoul, as the patient group, and forty five mothers who consulted with their child to well baby clinic at the general hospital and kindergarten in Seoul as the control group. The results of the survey can be summarized as followed : 1. "Otitis media patient group may have more lying posture mothers while feeding than the healthy control group". The first hypothesis is supported by the fact that the children who have lying posture feeding habit mothers are more easily exposed to otitis media than those who have sitting posture feeding habit mothers as the analysis show : $X^2=8.142$, p = .017 2. "Otitis media patient group may have higher rate of sleeping habit with milk bottle on the month at night than the healthy control group does". The second hypothesis was supported by the fact that the patients group has higher rate of expected sleeping habit than the healthy group dose as the analysis show : $X^2=4.35$, p = .037 3. "Otitis media can be found more in the artificial feeding group than in the healthy children group". The hypothesis is rejected by the analysis, $X^2=1.550$, p = .416. Though the hypothesis is not supported by this research, we need to encourage mothers to feed mother's breast milk on the ground that healthy group has mother's milk feeding tendency, and the best food for infants is their mother's milk, and psychological-sociological effects of breast feeding os quite good for children. It will improve the health of infants. It can be summarized as follows : Otitis media is more concerned with posture of feeding and night feeding habits than feeding modes. On the basis of this survey, feeding education problem for mothers of infants need to be developed. In the education, sitting-embracing posture of feeding, mother's breast feeding, and prohibition of children's lying posture feeding at night need to be emphasized.

  • Background: Improvement of lumbo-pelvic stability can reduce the compensatory action of the quadratus lumborum (QL) and selectively strengthen the gluteus medius (GM) during side-lying hip abduction (SHA). There are abdominal draw-in maneuver (ADIM) and abdominal bracing (AB) as active ways, and pelvic compression belt (PCB) as a passive way to increase of lumbo-pelvic stability. It is necessary to compare how these stabilization methods affect the selective strengthening of the GM. Objects: To investigate the effects of ADIM, AB, and PCB during SHA on the electromyography (EMG) activity of the GM, QL, external oblique (EO) and internal oblique (IO), and the GM/QL EMG activity ratio. Methods: A total of 20 healthy male adults participated in the study. The subjects performed three conditions in side-lying in random order: SHA with ADIM (SHA-ADIM), SHA with AB (SHA-AB), and SHA with PCB (SHA-PCB). To compare the differences among the three conditions, the EMG activities of the GM, QL, EO and IO, and GM/QL EMG activity ratio were analyzed using one-way repeated ANOVA. Results: The EMG activity of the QL was significantly higher in SHA-AB than in SHA-ADIM and SHA-PCB. The GM/QL activity ratio was significantly higher in SHA-PCB than in SHA-ADIM and SHA-AB. In addition, the figure for SHA-ADIM was significantly higher than that for SHA-AB. In the case of the EO, the figure for SHA-AB was significantly higher than corresponding values for the other two conditions. The figure for SHA-ADIM was significantly higher than that for SHA-PCB. The EMG activity of the IO was significantly higher in SHA-AH than in SHA-PCB. Conclusion: It can be suggested that wearing the PCB can more selectively strengthen the GM than to perform ADIM and AB during SHA. In addition, the ADIM can be recommended when there is a need to strengthen abdominal muscles during SHA.

  • This study was carried out in thoroughbred colts grazed in pasture at summer season of Jeju island, Korea, from June 23 to 29 in 2007. We investigated the behavioral pattern of the thoroughbred colts (n=23) at the age of 3-year-old (n=11) and 1-year-old (n=12). The group behavioral pattern of thoroughbred colts was different according to the age. It was shown that eating 56%, standing 23%, lying 10%, walking 5%, running 2.5% and drinking 3% in the 1-year-old thoroughbred colts group. Especially, it was significantly individual difference (P<0.05) in the average behavioral expression ratio of 1-year-old thoroughbred colts (n=3), which was eating 53%, standing 29%, lying 11%, walking 5%, drinking 1% and running 1%. On the other hand, it was investigated that eating 54%, standing 27%, walking 13%, running and drinking 1.5%, lying 1% in the 3-year-old thoroughbred colts group. Also, the individual behavioral expression ratio of the 3-year-old thoroughbred colts was eating 53%, standing 32%, walking 10%, running and drinking 1%, which was a similar pattern to the result of 1-year-old colts. It is considered that this is the first study regarding a pasturage action of a racehorse produced in Korea. These data cannot be enough, but this data will be based on the production of racehorses and fostered in the management.
