InP 코어 합성온도에 따른 InP/ZnS의 코어/쉘 양자점의 발광특성 (Luminescence Properties of InP/ZnS Quantum Dots depending on InP Core synthesis Temperature)

  • In this study, we investigate the optical properties of InP/ZnS core/shell quantum dots (QDs) by controlling the synthesis temperature of InP. The size of InP determined by the empirical formula tends to increase with temperature: the size of InP synthesized at $140^{\circ}C$ and $220^{\circ}C$ is 2.46 nm and 4.52 nm, respectively. However, the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of InP is not observed because of the formation of defects on the InP surface. The growth of InP is observed during the deposition of the shell (ZnS) on the synthesized InP, which is ended up with green-red PL spectrum. We can adjust the PL spectrum and absorption spectrum of InP/ZnS by simply adjusting the core temperature. Thus, we conclude that there exists an optimum shell thickness for the QDs according to the size.

MgO 단결정의 열자극 발광 및 Exo전자 방출 현상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermally Stimulated Luminescence and Exoelectron Emission Phenomena of MgO Single Crystals)

  • Cr, Cu, Fe 등을 고의적으로 첨가한 MgO 단결정에 자외선 및 X선을 조사하여 여기하고 액체질소온도로부터 500K까지의 범위에서 열자극 발광 그로우곡선과 발광 스펙트럼을 측정 분석하였다. 이 시료에서 얻어진 TSL 그로우곡선은 136.5K, 223.5K, 360K, 390K, 440K, 5개의 봉우리가 얻어졌다. 그들 봉우리의 활성화 에너지 값은 각각 0.27eV와 0.63eV, 1.08eV, 1.19eV, 1.33eV이었다. 우리는 200nm에서 650nm의 파장 범위 내에서 MgO 단결정의 TSL 스펙트럼을 측정하였다. 이 TSL 스펙트럼 측정으로부터 얻어진 345nm, 375nm, 410nm 파장에서 봉우리를 가진 스펙트럼을 분석하였으며, 이들의 발광 기구를 기술하였다. MgO:Cr, MgO:Cu, and MgO:Fe에서 방출된 TSL 스펙트럼의 봉우리는 346nm, 360nm, 375nm의 파장에서 나타났다.

  • In this study, the physical and optical properties of $ZnS:Mn^{2+}$ Quantum Dot prepared by wet-process condition with Mn/Zn ratio was valuated. The powder characteristics and optical behavior were investigated through XRD, TEM and Photo spectrometer exicted by various UV light source. We found the main peak of ZnS (111) was shifted by 0.8 degree to low angle position with increasing stirring energy from 200 RPM to 600 RPM, which is thought to be the increase of lattice defects during wet process. The photo luminescence at 600 RPM shows also higher blue intensity which is well correlated with XRD results. With increasing Mn/Zn ratio, the PL intensity become higher and shifed by 8.5nm to right side, by the increment of substitutional $Mn^{2+}$ ions.

CsSrCl3 단결정의 섬광특성 (Scintillation properties of CsSrCl3 single crystal)

  • $CsSrCl_{3}$ crystal was grown using Czochralski method from equimolar mixture of CsCl and $SrCl_{2}$. The spectrum range of the luminescence excited by 205 nm of wavelength was about $280{\sim}550$ nm, and its peak emission appeared at 343 nm. The luminescence decay curve of the $CsSrCl_{3}$ revealed two exponential components with time constants of 60 ns and 700 ns. The energy resolution for $^{137}Cs$ 662 keV ${\gamma}$-ray was 10.3 %. The pulse shape was linear at high energy, but some deviation existed in the low energy region.

Synthesis and Characterization Of Green- and Yellow-Emitting Zinc Silicate Thin Films Doped with Manganese

  • Zinc silicate ($Zn_2SiO_4$) has been identified as a suitable host material for a wide variety of luminescent activators, such as transition metal and rare earth elements. In particular, manganese-activated $Zn_2SiO_4$ exhibits highly efficient photoluminescenceand cathodoluminescence, which allows this material to be used in fluorescent lamps and display applications. In this study, we investigated the green and yellow luminescence from Mn-doped $Zn_2SiO_4$ thin films that were synthesized using radio frequency magnetron sputtering followed by annealing at $600{\sim}1,200^{\circ}C$ The refractive index of the $Zn_2SiO_4$: Mn films showed normal dispersion behavior. It was found that the $Zn_2SiO_4$: Mn films annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ ossessed a mixture of alpha and beta phases. The obtained photoluminescence spectrum consisted of two emission bands centered at 525 nm in the green range and 574 nm in the yellow range. The green luminescence originates from the divalent Mn ions in alpha phase of $Zn_2SiO_4$, while the yellow luminescence comes from the divalent Mn ions in beta phase. The films annealed at and above $900^{\circ}C$ xhibited only the alpha phase. The broad PL excitation band was observed ranging from 220 to 300 nm with a maximum at around 243 nm.

  • In this present study, the luminescence characteristics and mechanism of energy $CaTiO_3$:Pr phosphor were studied using disk specimens sintered at various temperatures and envirenment. A single-phase $CaTiO_3$:Pr was synthesized by sintering above 140$0^{\circ}C$ and its crystal structure was found to be perovskite orthorhombic. A dominant peak around 360 nm and a broad peak around 395 nm were observed in the PLE(Photoluminescence Excitation) spectrum of $CaTiO_3$:Pr with fixed emission wavelength at 612 nm, the decay time of 360 nm excitation was found to be longer than that of 395 nm excitation. From this result, it is assumed that the free carrier excited to 360 nm is transferred to 395 nm energy level. Therefore, the decrease in 395 nm intensity observed in CaTiO$_3$:Pr specimens sintered in Ar gas environment induced shorter decay time and improved CL luminescence.

Al 도핑된 ZnO 박막에서 방출되는 보라색 발광 스펙트럼 (Violet Photoluminescence Emitted from Al-doped ZnO Thin Films)

  • We report on a strong violet luminescence emitted from the ZnO:Al films grown on glass substrate by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. The growth of high-quality thin films and their optical properties are controlled by adjusting the mixture ratio of Ar and $O_2$, which is used as the sputtering gas. The crystallinity of the films is improved as the oxygen flow ratio is decreased, as evidenced in both x-ray diffractometer and atomic force microscope measurements. As for the violet luminescence measured by photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, the peak energy and intensity of the PL signal are decreased with increasing the oxygen flow ratio. The peak energy of the violet PL spectrum for the thin film with an oxygen flow ratio of 50 % is almost constant, regardless of the increase of laser Power and temperature. These results indicate that the violet PL signal is probably due to defects related to interstitial Zn atoms.

CsI:Gd 결정 육성과 섬광 특성 (Crystal Growth and Scintillation Properties of CsI:Gd)

  • CsI:Gd crystal was grown by the Bridgeman method and its scintillation properties were investigated. The wavelength peak of the luminescence spectrum for the crystal excited by X-ray was 419 nm. The range of the spectrum was from 300 nm to 800 nm. The spectrum well matched to the quantum efficiency of a typical bi-alkali photo-multiplier tube(PMT). An energy resolution of 48.2 % was obtained for 662 keV ${\gamma}$-rays of $^{137}Cs$. The three decay times were obtained as a fast(557.4 ns, 42.2 %), intermediate (1.78 ${\mu}s$, 29.7 %) and slow (5.43 ${\mu}s$, 28.1 %) components, respectively.

  • SrTiO3 :Al, Pr phosphor as an oxide compound phosphor is expect to be applied for a field emission display(FED). In this phosphor the excitation spectrum shows a different tendency according to an addition Al3+ and Pr3+ In this excitation spectrum the main peak at 359 nm represent excitation level of Pr3+(1S0longrightarrow1D2 transition) and the absorption characteristic according to Ti/Sr molar ratio is influenced by the structure symmetry. The emission spectrum exhibits the red luminescence with the radiative decay of the 1D2 states(1D2 longrightarrow3H4 transition) The concentration quenching phenomena at 1D2 state shows up as Al3+ and Pr3+ ion concentration increases.

  • Mn doped {{{{ {Zn {Ga }_{2 }O }_{4 } }} thin film phosphors were prepared on Si(100) wafers and ITO coated glass substrates by rf magnetron sputtering technique and the effects of the substrates dopant and the sputtering paramet-ers were analyzed, Changes of the oreintation were observed after annealine tratment. The grain size of {{{{ {Zn {Ga }_{2 }O }_{4 } }} : Mn thin film deposited on Si wafer was smaller than that on ITO/glass substrate which resulted in higher PL intensity. The PL spectra of Mn doped {{{{ {Zn {Ga }_{2 }O }_{4 } }} thin films showed sharp green luminescence spec-trum. According to CL spectrum it could be concluded that Mn ions acted as an actuator for green emission by substituting Zn atom sites.
