Purpose: The purpose of this study was to impact of force system change in finger spring that add helical coil one round on orthodontic force. Methods: The following conclusions were drawn from the experiment conducted after bending 90 samples with a CNC wire forming machine while changing the height and lumen size to 1mm - 3mm - 5mm and 2mm - 3mm - 4mm respectively in the coil of the force system in finger spring added with one wheel of helical coil of 18-8 stainless steel round wire (${\Phi}0.5mm$, spring hard) from Jinsung Co. in domestic market under the following conditions: Laboratory name = Instron 5942; Temperature($deg^{\circ}C$) = 18.00; Humidity(%) = 50.00; Rate 1 = 10.00000 mm/min; Compressive extension = 5.0mm. Results: When Coil height is 1, 3, 5mm and lumen size is 2, 3, 4mm reduce finger spring as mean value of compressive extension occasion maximum load(mN) increases as coil height rises, and lumen size grows to 5.0mm. And was expose that compressive load(mN) increases as coil position of finger spring rises and increase as lumen size is decrescent. Conclusion: As the adherence height of coil was raised from 1mm through 3mm to 5mm, compressive load increased. As the lumen size increased from 2mm through 3mm to 4mm, compressive load decreased. Therefore, these results suggest that it is desirable to lower the coil height and enlarge the lumen size to enhance the biomechanical efficiency of finger spring when manufacturing the finger spring for removable orthodontic devices.

Objective: To compare the lumen parameters measured by the location-adaptive threshold method (LATM), in which the inter- and intra-scan attenuation variabilities of coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) were corrected, and the scan-adaptive threshold method (SATM), in which only the inter-scan variability was corrected, with the reference standard measurement by intravascular ultrasonography (IVUS). Materials and Methods: The Hounsfield unit (HU) values of whole voxels and the centerline in each of the cross-sections of the 22 target coronary artery segments were obtained from 15 patients between March 2009 and June 2010, in addition to the corresponding voxel size. Lumen volume was calculated mathematically as the voxel volume multiplied by the number of voxels with HU within a given range, defined as the lumen for each method, and compared with the IVUS-derived reference standard. Subgroup analysis of the lumen area was performed to investigate the effect of lumen size on the studied methods. Bland-Altman plots were used to evaluate the agreement between the measurements. Results: Lumen volumes measured by SATM was significantly smaller than that measured by IVUS (mean difference, 14.6 mm3; 95% confidence interval [CI], 4.9-24.3 mm3); the lumen volumes measured by LATM and IVUS were not significantly different (mean difference, -0.7 mm3; 95% CI, -9.1-7.7 mm3). The lumen area measured by SATM was significantly smaller than that measured by LATM in the smaller lumen area group (mean of difference, 1.07 mm2; 95% CI, 0.89-1.25 mm2) but not in the larger lumen area group (mean of difference, -0.07 mm2; 95% CI, -0.22-0.08 mm2). In the smaller lumen group, the mean difference was lower in the Bland-Altman plot of IVUS and LATM (0.46 mm2; 95% CI, 0.27-0.65 mm2) than in that of IVUS and SATM (1.53 mm2; 95% CI, 1.27-1.79 mm2). Conclusion: SATM underestimated the lumen parameters for computed lumen segmentation in CCTA, and this may be overcome by using LATM.
It was the purpose of this study to analyze and compare the mechanical properties of ortho dontic open coil springs. Four variable factors were presented - wire diameter (.008", .009", .010"), lumen size (.030", .032", .036"), arch wire size and shape (.016" round, $ .016^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\times}.022^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ rect.) and alloy type (HiT II, Elgiloy, Sentalloy). The total 104 specimens were divided into 13 groups, and compression test was performed on an Instron test machine. The load deflection curve of each open coil spring was obtained, from which, the load-deflection relations, stiffnesses, percent recoveries were computed statistically. The results were obtained as follows: 1. When the lumen size of the coil spring remained constant, stiffness and percent recovery increased as the wire diameter increased. 2. When the wire diameter of the coil spring remained constant, stiffness and percent recovery decreased as the lumen size increased. 3. The effect of size and shape of arch wire on the coil spring was not statistically significant. 4. In alloy types, stiffness was the greatest in HiT II (55.21), Elgiloy (42.61) and Sentalloy (7.74) in that order. Sentalloy exhibited superior percent recovery and long range of action.

In this study, the lumen loading technology for preparing magnetic papers were evaluated. The rice husk fiber, softwood kraft pulp, hardwood kraft pulp were applied and the morphological properties of pits on the those fibers were investigated with SEM. The softwood kraft pulp had the bigger size of pits, $3{\sim}5{\mu}m$ in diameter, which resulted in higher loading amount. The comparison of two methods for lumen loading such as the low concentration method with the disintegrator and the high concentration method with the Hobart mixer showed the Hobart mixer could resulted in the higher efficiency. The conditions of lumen loading process such loading time, addition amount of metal particles and addition of PEI were also evaluated. The magnetic hysteresis loop of handsheet samples made of lumen loaded fiber with $Fe_3O_4$ and $Fe_2O_3$ were examined. The differences in magnetic properties could be found according to the ferrite types.
Membrane distillation (MD) is a separation process which higher vapor pressure components are evaporated in mixed liquid solution through hydrophobic membrane with 0.1 or $0.5{\mu}m$ pore size. In this study, direct contact membrane distillation process for hollow fiber module were interpreted numerically using the "COMSOL Multiphysics" software. The variables for the system were temperatures and flow rates of lumen and shell side solutions. The permeate flux increased from 1.0 to $3.8L/m^2{\cdot}hr$ as temperature of the feed solution for lumen increased from 30 to $50^{\circ}C$. However the effect of shell solution temperature on permeate flux was relatively low. Also, the optimum velocity of lumen feed was obtained at 0.15 m/s ($Re_L=135$) by considering MD permeate flux as well as operating pressure loss.
The unique cell wall micropores of pulp fiber can be utilized as loading site in variety of important practical application which could be the basis of new papermaking technologies. One of these includes the manufature of paper containing higher levels of in situ filler precipitated. Hardwood pulp fiber were first impregnated with the solution of sodium carbonate($Na_2CO_3$). The micropores in cell wall of pulp fibers were filled with the liquid salt solution. The second calcium nitrate($Ca(NO_3)_2$) solution formed an insoluble calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$) precipitate within the cell wall micropores by interacting with the first sodium carbonate solution. The effects of chemical concentration and dryness of pulp fibers on the retention of cell wall micropore loaded filler were investigated. The paper properties of cell wall micropore loaded pulp fibers were compared with those of conventionally loaded and lumen loaded pulp fibers. Also the presense of the fillers within the cell wall micropore was observed by SEM. Increasing the chemical concentration to generate the calcium carbonate increased the retention of filler in cell wall micropore loaded pulp fibers. The particle size distribution of precipitated calcium carbonate ranged from $0.1{\mu}m$ to $80{\mu}m$. But, the average particle size of cell wall micropore loaded calcium carbonate was $4{\mu}m$. The paper made from never dried pulp fibers, the cell wall micropores which were filled with calcium carbonate, had better mechanical and optical properties than those of conventionally loaded or lumen loaded pulp fibers.
To investigate the morphological changes of epithelial cells of ductus epididymides by sperm entrance, the Korean striped field mouse, Apodemus agrarius coreae was studied with light and transmission electron microscopy. 1. The diameters of the caput epididymis (Cp) and its lumen were $135\sim145{\mu}(140{\pm}0.5{\mu})$ and $115\sim120{\mu}m(117{\pm}0.1{\mu}m)$. The length and width of the epithelium were $27.0\sim28.5{\mu}m(28.0{\pm}0.1{\mu}m)$ and $4.8\sim5.4{\mu}m(5.1{\pm}0.2{\mu}m)$. 2. The diameters of the corpus epididymis (Cr) and its lumen were $160\sim170{\mu}m(166{\pm}0.2{\mu}m)$ and $140\sim150{\mu}m(145{\pm}0.3{\mu}m)$. The length and width of the epithelium were $17.4\sim18.0{\mu}m(17.6{\pm}0.5{\mu}m)$ and $8.8\sim10.4{\mu}m(9.5{\pm}0.2{\mu}m)$. 3. The diameters of the cauda epididymis (Cu) and its lumen were $270\sim280{\mu}m(275{\pm}0.2{\mu}m)$ and $265\sim275{\mu}m(268{\pm}0.3{\mu}m)$. The length and width of the epithelium were $11.2\sim13.4{\mu}m(12.3{\pm}0.3{\mu}m)$ and $9.2\sim11.2{\mu}m(10.0{\pm}0.2{\mu}m)$. Therefore, the size of diameter and lumen of the ductus epididymides and the width of the epithelium increased from Cp and Cr to Cu, but the length of epithelial cells decreased from Ca and Cr to Cu. These data suggest that the morphological changes of epithelial cells of the ductus epididymides may be the results of the sperm entrance.

Objectives: Glide path preparation is recommended to reduce torsional failure of nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary instruments and to prevent root canal transportation. This study evaluated whether the repetitive insertions of G-files to the working length maintain the apical size as well as provide sufficient lumen as a glide path for subsequent instrumentation. Materials and Methods: The G-file system (Micro-Mega) composed of G1 and G2 files for glide path preparation was used with the J-shaped, simulated resin canals. After inserting a G1 file twice, a G2 file was inserted to the working length 1, 4, 7, or 10 times for four each experimental group, respectively (n = 10). Then the canals were cleaned by copious irrigation, and lubricated with a separating gel medium. Canal replicas were made using silicone impression material, and the diameter of the replicas was measured at working length (D0) and 1 mm level (D1) under a scanning electron microscope. Data was analysed by one-way ANOVA and post-hoc tests (p = 0.05). Results: The diameter at D0 level did not show any significant difference between the 1, 2, 4, and 10 times of repetitive pecking insertions of G2 files at working length. However, 10 times of pecking motion with G2 file resulted in significantly larger canal diameter at D1 (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Under the limitations of this study, the repetitive insertion of a G2 file up to 10 times at working length created an adequate lumen for subsequent apical shaping with other rotary files bigger than International Organization for Standardization (ISO) size 20, without apical transportation at D0 level.
The present study was performed to investigate the effect of Yangkyuksanhoa-tang on the morphological changes of the basilar artery after experimentally induced subarachnoid hemonrrhages(SAH). Yangkyuksanhoa-tang has been used freguently for cerebrovascular accident Sprague Dawley rats weighing between 350-400 g were used. The 6 normal rats and 24 SAH elicited rats were used, The SAH induced by injection of the fresh autologus heart blood (0.3-0.4 ml) into the cisterna magna through the posterior atlanta-occipital membrane, Sample group was given 3.3 ml/kg/day of Yangkyuksanhoa-tang extracts for 2 days after SAH. The experimental animals were killed at 48hrs after SAH. The morphological changes of the arterial walls were examined by light and electron microscopy. Following are the obtained results: 1. In SAH elicited rats, the size of the lumen in basilar artery was diminished by about 45% and the thickness of arterial wall was increased by about 82%. In SAH elicited rats with Yangkyuksanhoa-tang treatment, the size of the lumen in basilar artery was merely diminished by about 18% and the thickness of arterial wall was merely increased by about 19%. 2. In light microscopic examination, the endothelium was swollen into a cuboid shape and the layer of smooth muscle was increased in the basilar artery of SAH elicited rats. In SAH elicited rats with Yangkyuksanhoa-tang treatment, the size of the lumen in basilar artery was enlarged and the thickness was decreased than in SAH elicited rats. The endothelium was flattened into a squamous shape and the layer of smooth muscle was decreased more than in SAH elicited rats. 3. In electron microscopic examination, the endothelial cells with fragmentation nuclei were changed into a cuboid shape and the internal elastic lamina were folded at the basilar artery of SAH elicited rat. The nuclei of smooth muscle cells were changed into a round or crumpled shape. The length of smooth muscle was shorten and thickness was increased. But all kinds of morphologic changes were diminished in SAH elicited rats with Yangkyuksanhoa-tang treatment. Conclusion : Yangkyuksanhoa-tang extracts were effective to treat cerebral vasospasm after experimentally induced subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats.
