  • In this study, several kinds of volatile amines in ambiant air were collected and their concentrations were expected from the calibration curves prepared by standard solutions of 7 amines by the official measuring method prescribed in Japanese Offensive Odor Law. The obtained calibration curves showed a good linearity and the detection limit of trimethyl amine was found to be about 0.033 ppb (0.040 ng) in case of 50 liters air. It means that trimethyl amine could be detected with the concentration of lower than its permitting level at the border line of companies. As typical examples of measuring amines in air, results of investigation of two sewage works and one rendering plant around the capital area indicated that 4 kinds of amines, i.e. methyl amine, dimethyl amine, trimethyl amine and isopropyl amine were detectable and concentrations of trimethyl amine at the primary sedimentation pond and sludge dewatering building of the sewage plant A showed 9.07 ppb and 7.79 ppb respectively, being over the concentration of odor strength 2.5, And the aeration tank, excrement input facility and indoor of maintenance room of excrement process building in the sewage plant B showed 70.0 ppb of dimethyl amine and 2.44 ppb of trimethyl amine.

  • 1H NMR spectrum of a DMF-d7 solution containing 4-aminopyrimidine and [SiW11CoIIO39]6- (SiW11Co) shows separate peaks from two linkage isomers, a and b, in which N(1) and N(3) of the pyrimidine ring are coordinated to SiW11Co, respectively. The signal from the amine group in the isomer a exhibits temperature dependence that is characteristic of a two-site exchange problem. Rates of internal rotation of the amine group were determined by simulating the NMR spectra at 5-35℃. The amine group of free 4-aminopyrimidine also shows temperature-dependent spectra at lower temperatures; rates of internal rotation at (-25)-25℃ were determined. The internal rotation of the amine group in the complex is much slower than that for free 4-aminopyrimidine, indicating that π-character of the C-N bond increases on coordination to SiW11Co. The amine group in the isomer b does not show such behavior. It is probable that hydrogen bonding between N-H and a bridging oxygen atom of SiW11Co prevents it from rotating at low temperatures.

  • Primary and secondary amine-based sorbents were synthesized to investigate the operation capacity for the carbon dioxide separation TSA process. (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane was used as a primary amine precursor as a crosslinking agent to synthesize a secondary amine precursor in which amine groups were crosslinked with a crosslinking agent. Carbon dioxide absorbed by primary amines is completely separated above 170 ℃. The working capacity of the primary amine absorbent was less than 2% when regenerated at 130℃. The secondary amine absorbent has a higher carbon dioxide separation capacity at a lower regeneration temperature than the primary amine absorbent. The secondary amine absorbent could predict process operation performance of about 6.5% with 2% carbon dioxide absorption and 100% carbon dioxide regeneration conditions. Therefore, it was found that the working capacity of the secondary amine absorbent was higher than that of the primary amine.

  • Several instances of synergistic interaction have been identified between alkyl amine oxide and long chain fatty acohol polyethoxylates in various surfactant formulation. The purpose of this study was examined whether these benefits could be observed within the framework of generic hand-surface cleaning formulations. Comparative evaluation were also carried out to determine the performance characteristics of low-and zero-phosphate systems in which amine oxide and alcohol ethoxylates are used. Best cleaning was observed with 1:1 mixtures of the subject surfactants, but substantial improvements over fatty alcohol ethoxylate alone also were noted with formulations that contained lower ratios of amine oxide.

  • A series of amine functionalized MCM-41 catalysts were prepared by aminopropyltrimethoxysilane grafting and their catalytic performance in Knoevenagel reaction of selected substrates was investigated. Water resistant and catalytically active amine grafted MCM-41 was prepared by post-synthetic silylation using methyltrimethoxysilane ; hydrogen bonding of the water molecules formed during the condensation reaction to the active N group was suppressed, which led to high TON of the reaction. Amine functionalized MCM-41 prepared by coating method produced high conversion, but the TON of the catalyst was much lower than that of the amine grafted MCM-41; pore volume of the functionalized MCM-41 decreased substantially and large portion of the immobilized amine is believed to be hydrogen bonded to each other, which can result in decrease in the basicity of the N group. A secondary amine group was prepared by room temperature condensation between aminopropylsilane and chloropropylsilane, and the MCM-41 grafted with the secondary amine group demonstrated the highest catalytic activity among the catalysts prepared.

  • Mesoporous SBA-15 was synthesized using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as the silica source and Pluronic (P123) as the structure-directing agent. The defective Si-OH groups present in SBA-15 were successively grafted with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane (CPTMS) followed by tris-(2-aminoethyl) amine (TAEA) and/or tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) for effective immobilization of silver nanoparticles. Grafting of TAEA and/or TEPA amine and immobilization of silver nanoparticles inside the channels of SBA-15 was verified by XRD, TEM, IR and BET techniques. The silver nanoparticles immobilized on TAEA and /or TEPA grafted SBA-15 was subjected for electrocatalytic reduction of hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$). The TEPA stabilized silver nanoparticles show higher efficiency for reduction of $H_2O_2$ than that of TAEA, due to higher number of secondary amine groups present in TEPA. The amperometric analysis indicated that both the Ag/SBA-15/TAEA and Ag/SBA-15/TEPA modified electrodes required lower over-potential and hence possess high sensitivity towards the detection of $H_2O_2$. The reduction peak currents were linearly related to hydrogen peroxide concentration in the range between $3{\times}10^{-4}\;M$ and $2.5{\times}10^{-3}\;M$ with correlation coefficient of 0.997 and detection limit was $3{\times}10^{-4}\;M$.

  • The combined waterproofing method is an excellent method to overcome the disadvantages of the single waterproofing method by composing two or more materials to complement each other, but it is a method that can cause defects such as separation and peeling between materials due to the heterogeneity of the applied two materials. In order to improve this, in this study, we aimed to develop a technology for inducing chemical unification between materials through a urea reaction with a coating material applied on the lower side by laminating a nonwoven fabric treated with a modified amine on the back surface of the sheet material, The adhesion performance test was carried out with the presence or absence of denatured amine treated nonwovens as variables. As a result of the test, it was confirmed that the adhesion performance of the specimen to which the modified amin - treated nonwoven fabric was applied was improved by about 60% or more as compared with the specimens not having the denatured amine treated specimen.

  • Mono-, or di-substituted chlorodicyanovinyl benzene compound was reacted with an excess amount of ethylenediamine to give corresponding imidazoline product with high reaction yield. This reaction occurs by stable imidazoline ring-forming process through nucleophilic attack of terminal amine on the enaminonitrile adduct, the reaction intermediate, toward electropositive enamine carbon, which is accompanied by the release of neutral malononitrile moiety. The similar reaction with 1,2-phenylenediamine produced stable enaminonitrile-amine adduct at lower temperature which could be cyclized intramolecularly to thermally stable benzimidazole at elevated temperature in solution or in solid state. From the difunctional compound of both reactants, poly(enaminonitrile-amine) could be prepared as a new soluble precursor polymer for well-known polybenzimidazole (PBI). The thermal cyclization reaction accompanying the release of malononitrile molecules was studied using thermalanalysis and infrared spectroscopy.

  • The effects of cure kinetics and mechanism of DGEBA(diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A)/MDA(4,4'-methylene dianiline) with SN(succinonitrile) and HQ(hydroquinone) as an additive and accelerator were investigated. Cure kinetics was evaluated by Kissinger equation and fractional-life method through DSC analysis. The activation energy has hydroxyl group as an accelerator, the activation energy and the starting cure-temperature were lower than those of DGEBA/MDA/SN system. Cure mechanism of those systems was investigated through FT-IR according to the various SN contents. The ratio was SN : HQ = 4 : 1. It has been known that the cure reactions of an epoxy-diamine system are composed of primary amine-epoxy reaction, secondary amino-epoxy reaction and epoxy-hydroxyl group reaction. But in DGEBA/MDA/SN system, primary amino-CN group reaction and CN group-hydroxyl group reaction were added to the above mentioned reactions. These reactions attributed to the long main chain and the low crossliking density. And in DGEBA/MDA/SN/HQ system, hydroxyl group of HQ formed a transition state with epoxide group and amime group and also opened the ring of the epoxide group rapidly, then amino-epoxy reaction took place easily.

  • In this study, a synthetic amine made using the ethylene oxide-ammonia reaction was used as an absorbent to remove carbon dioxide. Existing absorbents were used in a mix in order to improve performance; however, because the ethylene oxide-ammonia reaction generates primary, secondary, and tertiary amines simultaneously, it has the merit that separate mixing of the absorbents was not needed. The performance of carbon dioxide absorption with the synthetic amine was compared to that of MEA. As a result of an experiment, it was determined that the $CO_2$ loading was 1.15 times better than that of MEA (a commonly used amine), while the cyclic capacity was 2.28 times higher. Because the heat of reaction was 1.10 times lower than for MEA, the synthetic amine showed superior performance in terms of absorption and regeneration.
